View 2 RepliesI am having a problem running an Excel/VBA program that has been working till this morning. The error I got when I ran a macro I wrote is: Compile error: Cannot find project or libraryWhen I check the references in VBA editor, I find the list of references to be different than when I ran it on another machine. I have some xla libraries on a server that I've linked to the application, and the libraries are being shared among my colleagues. I tried relinking the libraries but that didn't work either. Sometimes, I get another message saying the library is being used by another application.

A co-worker checked a very simple Visual Basic Visual Studio 2010 application into our version control system. When I checked it out and tried to build it I got the weird error below, which I am guessing has something to do with which .Net Framework the build is targetted towards and also which Framework I have installed.

View 6 Repliesi am using VB 2008. And i want to tell you that there are many basic features not yet available with controls. 1] Blank Date (Null Date) with DateTimePicker Control (user may not want to write date for some fields) 2] NumericBox for Writting just Numbers having properties AllowDecimal, AllowThousandSeperator, Min. n Max.Ranges. 3] Multi Column List for ComboBox. 4] 'Contains' type Lookup (finding) in ComboBox and AutoComplite enabled TextBox which finds for the strings in any part of String. Why developers needs to rely on third party control vendors for these Basic Features?
View 5 RepliesI have a custom control's library. Now there's a control which looks like a panel, and when it opens up I want to animate its vertical growing like this:
For h As Single = 0 To finalHeight Step 0.5
Me.Height = CInt(h)
' HERE I WANT TO CALL DoEvents'
Next
Me.Height = finalHeight
If I don't call DoEvents in the loop then the animation is not shown, I only get the final height without a visual feedback along the way. I can call DoEvents from inside my main WinForm project, but can't inside a library. How can I do that, without drowning into the deep threads waters?
I'm using the iTunes library control to figure out the current song playing in my iTunes, but theres 1 annoying thing... everytime I load my program it now automatically starts iTunes. Is there a way to use the control and not have it launch iTunes with my program? Or a better way of getting the current iTunes song without using the iTunes control?
View 3 RepliesSo I've made this control that inherits from the treeview control and basically loads objects from active directory into a treeview (url...).All working fine, but as this is the first custom control I have made that I have intended for other people to use, I'm not quite sure how I should approach error handling.I mean, obviously I shouldnt do something like show any exceptions in a messagebox because that might not be what the person that is using the control wants to happen. So do I just write out exception messages to the debug window? Do I swallow exceptions (guessing not)? Do I just totally ignore them so that they are thrown in the user's project?

View 13 RepliesI downloaded a nice menu control from this webpage [URL]. I added the control to my toolbox, and dragged and dropped it onto my form. The problem is I can't see any way of adding menu items. There is a property named items, but that doesn't seem to add menu items to the menu. There doesn't seem to be any other property that would add the items. Any way of adding code to add the menu items.
