My vb.net app ORDER is at d:myapporder. I created a setup project named it as ordersetup in the same solution file. Once I moved ORDER to e:myapporder, ordersetup can not load any more. How to fix it?

VB 2008 during a compile gave me the following error: Error reading icon 'C:Usersxxxxxx x xxxxxAppDataRoamingMicrosoftVBExpress9.0VSProjectApplication.ico' -- The system cannot find the path specified.
The file "VSProjectApplication.ico" is in 'C:UsersDennisAppDataRoamingMicrosoftVBExpress9.0'
Somewhere in the VB2008 "configuration" files I believe that I need to manually change the old path to the new path.
I found the old path in the ".suo" file. The ".suo" file is not a text file. How can I edit the .suo file, save it so that it will work?

1- i add Project Setup Project for my Project for Visual Studio 2008 Deploy & setup Type Projects and make it with output option and detect dependices
2- i try make it with Setup Factory 8.2.1
3- i try with MSI Factory 2.0
4 i try with Setup Factory 6.0
and after making installer copying it to my test virtual Machine or my friend lap and install it i get this error when try to run my application :

View 4 RepliesI've finally got a project compiled and tested and ready to roll out.I have discovered that the "Publish" option is not what it seems, and that we must create a separate "Setup Project" to carry out the task of installing the files.This is not the most intuitive process I've seen, and the online help on that subject is not easy to understand.I was hoping that someone could direct me to a tutorial or guide that would step me through the specific approach I need. Many of the other guides online are vague and address multiple scenarios and do not separate the approaches very well.I have the contents of my project in /bin/release. It runs nicely by iteself with no errors.Here's what I need:
1. To create a setup exe that I can distribute that will install my software, with all of the supporting (resource) files and folders.
2. I need the setup process to force the installer to "agree" to a EULA.
3. I'd would like to provide an image on the installation screen/popup.
4. I would like the software registered in the registry and rely on it being there in the registry.
5. I need it to default to program filesprojectname (it does by default)
I new to this Forum and relatively new to VB programming. I have read some really good posts here and thought I would ask about a perplexing problem I'm having. I createdindows Form application, built it and deployed it with no problems. However, when I added a small block of code, re-built the app and went to add the app to the Project Output Group in the file system editor the project was not in the Project drop down list. I closed the Setup project and deleted it from the project folder and checked my code and re-built the app and tried the Set Up project again with the same result
View 2 RepliesI have a ClickOnce app that has been working fine for a couple months, until a day or two back some internal politics borked the server. The result of this was that the path for ClickOnce during install changed just slightly at one intermediate level. It used to have /is/ in the path, and the is has changed to something else. I changed everything I could find, including recreating the whole target directory in IIS on the server. However, when I publish, though the link is correct, installation is failing. The log shows that, after checking and installing some prerequisites, the installation is attempting to go back to that /is/ path to find the app for installation.
Can anybody suggest where that invalid path is located? I have gone through every property I can find in Project|Properties, and they are correct. I have looked in App.config, and that is correct. Where else should I be looking?
I have a vb.net project in vs2008. When the project loads, one form is always immediately marked as changed before anything has been done to it. This didn't happen in earlier versions of the form. Nor does it happen with any other forms, classes, modules, etc. I have no idea why it is occurring but I am curious.

The above path is a fixed path which connects my program to the database. Now when I create a set up file and try to run on another machine it wont recognize this path . have placed the database in the same folder that of the program.
I have a combo box on a form. I have a SelectedIndexChanged event, that displays a message box when the combo box has another item from it selected. This works fine. However when the form is loaded, I initially want to set the current drop down box item from the database, then AFTER I have set the current value, I want this event to work. Problem is from the get go when the form loads it asks me the question as its being changed from 'no data' to then be populated with a bunch of data and an item selected.

Iam changing the installation directory because when the application is installed in program files, my database can't add and edit record. having an error something like "operation must need an updateable query" because of that error i tried to install the appl in documents and there n error i'd encountered like when I install it to the program files folder.
Has anyone else had issues with Visual Basic 2010?My visual basic program has been running fine for months but recently every time I try and load a project (any project) the program freezes, then I have to close it down and reload, every time I load Visual basic for the second time I get the following error:

An error was encountered while opening associated documents the last time this solution was loaded. Document load is being skipped during this solution load in order to avoid that error.Plus when trying to run a project in debug it takes ages to load (around 5 minutes) this has only started happening recently, projects were loading in seconds.

Process.Start(Application.StartupPath + "\Registry User Guide.doc")
How do I add this document to my setup project so when a user installs the MSI it will put the word doc into the application.startuppath?

After I remove this file from the setup project, I can build it successfully and the result msi file is about 250MB, the file I removed is about 260MB, is there any limitation about the size of the file in setup project or the total size of msi file?
