View 1 RepliesI've created a setup project for a VB.NET 2010 application that I've written. The application, and the installer both work fine on my development machine.The installer works fine on other machines, but when I run my application it immediately crashes and dies without telling me anything useful. I've tried it on Windows 7, Windows XP, and Windows Vista machines... and all had the same problem, so I think it's more of a package configuration issue than a machine-specific problem.Here's the most useful information that I was able to get out of it:

I am using vs 2003 to build a setup project but got this error message"Could not find file ..., Not enough storage is available to complete this operation."I checked the path of the file, it is correct. After I remove this file from the setup project, I can build it successfully and the result msi file is about 250MB, the file I removed is about 260MB, is there any limitation about the size of the file in setup project or the total size of msi file? If so, how can I build the setup project?
View 19 RepliesI added a setup project to a winform vb.net app which otherwise builds fine. Once the setup project is added to the solution, however, the build fails with the following error;Unrecoverable build error.As there does not seem to be much information I can't figure what the problem is. What can I do from here to fix this to get deployment package?

In 2008 this just resulted in warnings when building but I now get an error instead indicating that the file is already included.I can fix this by excluding them but they will reappear after each build so have to be excluded again which slows the process down - example error message is below:

View 2 Replieshow I can include a file in a setup.exe package and have it copy/add that file into a specific folder/directory when the install is run?
I have a Crystal Report that is in the application's "Release" folder in the development environment. I need to have this .rpt file copied to a folder on the user's C: drive when the Setup.exe is run.
My vb.net app ORDER is at d:myapporder. I created a setup project named it as ordersetup in the same solution file. Once I moved ORDER to e:myapporder, ordersetup can not load any more. How to fix it?
View 4 RepliesI have developed a windows forms desktop application using vb.net 2005. It is installed on client computers using a setup package.
One of the clients wants to redistribute the setup package to other users.
He wants to provide the users with an initialization file containing the database server name which they will be using, so that it is available when the application is installed. They are apparently incapable of physically typing in a server name themselves after installing the application.
Is there any way I can include a separate file with the setup package which the application can find after it has been installed?
When i make Setup of my project then my crystal reports keeps old database path how can i resolve it please help me.

View 1 RepliesIm trying to write to a file I created and place "Unregistered" in it. Thought it would be a simple task but keep getting an error. Its happening when I try and open the file to write. This is the error: Access to the path 'G:\Projects\Project\pbss\bin\Debug\5\pbssv\Data.DB' is denied.
Ive tried adding the file attributes to read-write and still get the same. Most of the code ive looked at via a google search points to the same as ive got for the Added default value area. Im not sure if there is a conflict between the 2 different ways im accessing the file when creating and writing too? [Code]

View 1 RepliesI have completed my VB project using vb 2008 express edition..I am not able to create a set up file for my project and I think it is because of the file path i have provided in my program
dbSource = "Data Source = C:Documents and SettingscfadminDesktopLead_managementLead_Management_ProjectLead_Management_ProjectLondon.mdb"
The above path is a fixed path which connects my program to the database. Now when I create a set up file and try to run on another machine it wont recognize this path . have placed the database in the same folder that of the program.
I was studying visual basic 2008 and had reached almost 60% of it when I was told that my course curriculum included visual basic 2005. I will now have to reinstall visual basic 2005(.net framework 2) instead of visual basic 2008(3.5 .net framework). I was wondering- will it be completely different vb2005 and vb2008? I really wanted to stick to vb2008, I was getting the hang of it. Also, I was wondering, can I run my application vb2008 in .net framework? Is there any way around? Also, I used advanced installer to build a setup file for my application? Now the question is will the other computer(the one which will install from the set up) need .net framework of 3.5(since I built apps in vb2008)?
View 1 RepliesI am trying to read and display a file using MapPath as follows :
Response.ContentType = "Application/pdf"
Dim FilePath As String = MapPath("../Document/123.pdf")
Response.WriteFile(FilePath)
Response.End()
This procedure will work fine and display in the browser. However, if I save the file to C:Document123.pdf, how can I access this file using relative path in MapPath function. Is there an option to access the file which is saved out of IIS server? I am using vb.net 2003.
I finished an important project (Visual Studio 2008 Professional Edition) and now I have to deliver it with an appropriate installation program. My product is composed by a lot of projects and each of them generates an exe file with its images, help, xml , database etc. A main exe calls a sub exe for the work it has to do passing appropriate parameters. I think is not suitable to use a click-once feature and I have looked for the deployment wizard but I didnt found a complete documentation and moreover some example step by step.where can I find that documentation, tutorial and example ? Its possible to customize the forms generated by the wizard ?
View 8 RepliesI am using .net 3.5 and vb.net 2008 I have a program that copies access databases (.mdb) over from one server to another to be used ofr a ArcGIS webservice. The databases are edited on one server then nightly copied over to the webserver so they can be consumed in an intranet page).

View 3 RepliesI have written a small VB.NET simulation program that uses an XML file to configure the simulation. I want to include this file in the project build so that when the application is installed, there will be a default XML file in the required directory.
When I do the Project Publish (within VB 2010 Express), there is no option for including any extra data files in the process.
Is it possible to do this with VB 2010 Express ... or should I try some other project builder/installer.
