I have added a DataSet to connect with my SQLDatabase. Test Query displays correct values but when I programmatically try to display the value of a certain field using following code

I get Tables is not a member of dsTest.
how can I use dataset to read, write, edit and delete data as we use in WinForms?
I am trying to read JSON data from a server to a dataset object, any idea on how this can be done. I have tried using the DataContractJsonSerializer class but it only seems to work for objects.

I have tried everything I can to get beyond this error which shows below as <<<<< error here. It is trying to fill a dataset from a data adapter. If I change the SELECT statement to just SELECT * FROM xTable I get the correct number of records in each table. But anytime I try with a more complex statement I get the error message shown below which indicates System.Data.Common.DbDataAdapter.Fill(DataSet dataSet. I've completely erased all data and entered a new set of test data so I know there is no problem with relationships. Each table has primary key which is foreign key in other table. The other grid has the users who have garment issued to them. the style number is in both grids. Im working on a HSD 32 bit data bus to serial converter via a microcontroller. Now first I want to make a sort of data sniffer to read the data bus (32Bit) .All on the controller side is working and the stream of bytes are coming in via RS232 as 4 bytes in HEX like FD,A5,45,8B . I already converted the bytes in Dec and ASCII to determine what is passed true the bus and how fast and stuff.. Now that is all correct and working very well if the LSB (least significant bit) of the 32 data bus is Data line 0 and the MSB (most significant bit) is Data line 31 but if that is not the case I need to invert the 32Bits (like as I would invert the connector on the bus) . How do I best do this using the 4 bytes I send from the micro controller.
Example:

I'm facing a problem reading .csv file into datatable. The machine on which i install my window service ( which reads the csv ) is Windows Server 2008 R2.The error i get is : The 'Microsoft.Jet.Oledb.4.0' provider is not registered on the local machine

I have a situation where I serialized data from a dataset to an xml file as a method of backup.I am trying to get the data deserialized back to the dataset.But for some reason, I cannot get the data to persist back to the DB.I don't receive any error messages either.The first chunk of code is the serialization code and the second chunk is the deserialization code.I can show that the deserialization back to the dataset is complete because this code in the 2nd block DataGridView2.DataSource = Movie_dbDataSet.movie_tb - displays the data in correct form all it is all there in the datagridview2.I call the update method but it does not get persisted back to the db.[code]

It has 3 levels, root, main section and items. There are no attributes. I want to go to the first main section by name, then read in all the items. The items all are named the same. I've seen this done before, so it should be ok. No writing will be done. Basically this is a static data file

That code works to read the entry data and to recognise the correct data, and the incorrect. However, even if entry is correct, the error msgbox will appear (x times of how many records there are in file), despite being navigated to the menu. Anyway that the Else isn't triggered when data is correct. Also for it to appear just one instead of (x times of how many records there are in file.)

View 1 RepliesI created a dataset in Visual Studio 2010 containing two tables: tblCategories and tblAnswers. tblCategories has two columns: CategoryNumber (AutoNumber and primary key) and CategoryName. tblAnswers has three columns: AnswerNumber (AutoNumber and primary key), Answer, and CategoryNumber. The CategoryNumber columns in each table are related. I have a command button which I want to use to add a record to the CategoryName column in tblCategories with the data typed in a textbox. When I try to access the dataset to add a new row(dataset.tblCategoriesDataTable.NewRow), the NewRow method isn't present. I've done some reading which suggests that I need a TableAdapter, but it seems like that is for connecting to an external file because I have to select a connection. I have no external SQL files or database. I want the user to be able to create a database within my program.

I need to copy all data from a Table of a Acces mdb (connected with OleDB) to a Table of a MySql DB (connected with ODBC)
I made a working solution, but it's very slow, and so I want to try other solutions to check if they can give me more performance.
The solution connecting to the mdb, using a DataReader, then for each row in Datareader I make an INSERT into the Mysql Table ( before copy I truncate the table to get it empty)
The records are more than 10K and this operation is very slow, and do be onest I need to do the same thing on other 2 tables also very big as this one.
I cannot make a direct sql insert ( as INSERT INTO A in ..... SELECT * FROM B) because the 1 DB has a OleDB conn and the other has a ODBC conn.
So I thought to try to make this operation using TableAdapters and DataSet, but I'm not able to make it working.
The problem is that the Dataset's HasChanges is false
