View 1 RepliesI use a Creative Audigy SE which supports 7.1 Sound. So I pluged in my headset to the first connector and my speakers to the second which now gives me a 4.1 Soundsystem. The speakers are there to watch movies when I'm in bed and the headset is for normal computer-use (games etc.). Now I configured the driver that the speakers play the same as the headset and for the media stuff this works great, but when i start a game, the game seems to use my setup as a normal 4.1 system ignoring my system-configuration. In some games you can manually set it up right, but not in all. So my idea is to write a small proggram which let me fast switch between 2.1 for games and 4.1 for media-stuff and here comes the problem.
Is there any way in VB.Net to change the current sound-setting from 2.1 to 4.1? (I'm using Win 7 if that is important!)

I have Excel 2003 and 2007 loaded on my computer. When I open an Excel file, it is defaulting to 2003. How do I check to see what the default program is for opening xls files and change this to 2007 in my code? I have already done the following manually:
1-Open My Computer
2-Go to Tools --Folder options
3-Click the File Types tab
4-Scroll down to the XLS file type and highlight it
[code]....
However I am not convince that its defaulting to Excel 2007 when I run projects in VB as I am seeing the "File Conversion" prompt when file are open.

View 4 RepliesWe have a VBScript that launches an Access app that connects via ODBC to SQL Server - wouldn't you know the server name is changing.
Is it possible to use VBScript to modify the ODBC information in the registry to point to the new server? Basically changing one specific value for one specific key. Am I better off deleteing the ODBC key and readding it from scratch?
This is probably an easy question: I need to change my version number from 5.4 to 5.5. This is not the assembly version, but the version (I think) of my executable.

Is this program very inefficient? Based on the past programs I have written for this class, I would say I've probably done it again. I don't think I have written a single "efficient" program yet. =/
For some reason, I can only run my program at college where I created it. It runs off of E:/ (usb port) so when I take it home, it won't run as at home, my E:/ is a CD Drive. How can I change my program so that it runs off of all drives?
View 4 RepliesAn update to my program has been downloaded to a particular folder. The code recognizes that the file is there
(i.e. "If IO.File.Exists(My.Application.Info.DirectoryPath & "UpdatesPQCM.exe) Then),
Sets the update location to that file and initiates the click-once update subroutine. Problem, I don't know how this update feature can be modified this way in run-time. I would set the update location using the solution properties but this program may exist anywhere on the hard drive, or even on a thumb drive (as per its design).
I have a program that has multiple tabs, with roughly 100 - 400 controls of varying types on each area. The program takes about...4 seconds to load, which I don't think is right.I did a few memory tests on the program startup, and idling it. At startup, the program uses 100% CPU usage, and 102mb of RAM, but then the form displays, the RAM drops to 20%, and CPU at 0%.Changing a Tab locks the program up for 1 to 2 seconds depending on the tab, and memory fluctuates.Am I doing something wrong here, when a program form has literally over 500 controls of many types, spanning 6 tab pages, or should I be doing something different?
