Change Interop Dll Version Created In Program When Using In Net?
Dec 4, 2010
I'm facing problem while reference vb6 dll in .net project. When ever i refer a vb6 dll in .net project the interop dll is created with same version(1.2.0.0). Its creating problem for me as the setup used to deploy the application at client side does not replace the dll if the version is same as before. I want to change the version of the interop dll (created using vb6 dll). I read it cam done using tlbIMP but how to create tlb file for vb6 dll.
This is probably an easy question: I need to change my version number from 5.4 to 5.5. This is not the assembly version, but the version (I think) of my executable.
I wrote a programme and sent it to my client, (it was not a deployment or install file - just the .exe). He responded that it would not run and the PC reported "this program requires Net Framework 2.0". He cannot update the PC in question with Net Framework 2.0. So my question is can i somehow change my program to use an earlier version of Net Framework?
i have created a application that uses office outlook. my development machine has office 2010. now when i try to install the application on a computer that has office 2007 i am getting an error that says i should install office.interop.outlook version 14.0.0.0 in the global assemblies cache.
How come software created in an older framework version won't run on a newer framework version? Actually whenever i try to run some old specific software having .net 3.5 framework on my PC they show they needs .net framwork 1.1 . What a bad thing? My newer version of Photoshop ans Ms office open all lower version files.
I am working on an application which compiles fine on machine that is Win 7 and 64 bit CPU. But when copy and I run the exe file on similar machine (Win 7 64bit) I get error message: Error: Could not load file or assembly 'Interop.ActiveDs.Version=1.0.0.0,... I have added ActiveDS Type Library 1.0 C:WindowsSysWow64activedstlb as a reference in the project file.
I have problem when i use DTS package in my Application which I use VB.net .when i install the Application in the client and run it the are message appear :" could not load file or assembly ' interop.DTS,version=2.0.0.0,cultral,publickeytoken=null'or one of its dependencies . the system cannot find the file specified " In my PC run successfuly but in the client the previous?
I have Visual Studio 2010 and a VB Project that had a reference to Microsoft.Interop.Excel 12.0. Well recently I changed the reference version to 14.0. That was actually a mistake and now I need to bump it back down to version 12.0. However I get this error in my project now...
Project 'MyProject' requires a reference to version '14.0.0.0' of assembly 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel', but references version '12.0.0.0' of assembly 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel'.
I tried removing references and adding the com object to, but no avail.

Ok, most of my Visual Basic experience I admit was with VB 3 and VB 5. I'm just starting with VB 2005 Express, and get this error when trying to connect to a new database.
I'm using Windows Vista and have the latest Microsoft JET version, so I have no idea why I'm getting that error.
My app currently uses Interop.ADODB.dll to retrieve data from an access database. My compiled setup file has to include a Interop.ADODB.dll file for the software to work. What would i have to do in order to convert my app to drop the interop file by using Ado.net instead?Would it simply be a matter of changing the references and connection strings or does it involve alot more than that?
i compiled 1 control in vb6. now i'm trying use it in vb2010, but i recive 2 warnings: "Warning1A reference was created to embedded interop assembly 'stdole' because of an indirect reference to that assembly from assembly 'AxInterop.Sprite'. Consider changing the 'Embed Interop Types' property on either assembly.WindowsApplication1" and "Warning2 reference was created to embedded interop assembly 'stdole' because of an indirect reference to that assembly from assembly 'Interop.Sprite'. Consider changing the 'Embed Interop Types' property on either assembly.WindowsApplication1 "why these warnings? (i have sure that in vb6 don't give me any errors)
Currently in our VB.Net windows application, C libraries are present under the 'bin' directory but we want to store it under application root directory where other forms and classes are present...How can we do this in Vb.Net 2008?
I know how to change the frame work version in one vb project. But I have a solution that has very many projects and doing that is really taking a lot of time.
I want to add version info to my mobile device exe fileand apparently the following line is not supported in CF (windows mobile 6.0), ideas?:<Assembly: AssemblyFileVersion("1.0.0.0")>I want to be able to to right-click on the .exe after it is copied over to the PC and have the version displayed in a version tab just like any other .exe. I would then be able to read this version in code from a VB6 program.
Actually i had some screens which were in SFTTree version 4.0. I am attempting to write a program in Visual Basic Express 2010 that uses .NET Framework version 3.5 instead of 4. (The computers that I plan to use this program on only have .NET 3.5 SP1, and are painfully slow, so I don't want to upgrade them to .NET 4.)I have seen in the documentation that the Express edition does not have the option to change the target framework in the "New Project" dialog. However, when I go to the Project Properties window, there is not a drop-down list for the target framework, either. Can I change the target framework version in Visual Basic Express 2010?
I'm trying to create a 'trial version' for a software of mine, currently it is pay-only. Basically the most efficient way I can think of is to simply change the startup form of the trial version after 15 days. The new startup form will simply be a request to register.
-How can I change the startup form after 15 days? -How can I ensure that this cannot be changed afterwards (so it isn't easily pirated).
I wrote a quick and dirty web service in VB.NET. And as it always goes, I want to move it to production, but don't want to use the name Service1 for the public class. When I change the name I get an error when trying to reference it. I know there is somewhere else I need to change the class name, something in the code behind but I can't find where it is.
I have successfully converted the FullCalendar into asp.net / VB and it works perfectly. I am struggling to change the background colour of an event based on a SQL query. I have tried many of the links on StackOverflow and on the Full Calendar Docs [URL] but I have barely any knowledge of jQuery/Javascript so this is proving very difficult for me.I have 5 Employees and I would like each of them to have a unique colour on the Calendar. In my SQL table there is a SalesPersonID field for each employee. I want to change the colour based on the ID. e.g.: (I know this will not work in this scenario, it is purely for info)
If "SalesPersonID" = "1" Then cevent.className = "Steve" ElseIf "SalesPersonID" = "2" Then
I'm working on an update to one of my programs, and for some reason this new version isn't working on Windows XP. It crashes immediately upon launching (before the GUI is even visible on screen). This shows up in the Event Viewer[code]...
