Changing Query To Load Specific Data In Report?

Synopsis: I have a report generated from the report wizard in VB that works, but I only want to load data from the same department as the current user.
Details: The application connects to MySQL using the MySQL Connector/Net. I have a users table in the database, one of the fields is "Dept_ID." The report I currently have works loads data and everything fine, but I only want to load some of the data from the table, specifically where Dept_ID matches the current user's Dept_ID, basically adding the "WHERE" clause to the select statement.
I used the report wizard to generate the report and data table, etc, just followed from step one. I've looked around and have found something about using parameters, but can't seem to figure out how to pass a variable to the parameter, or if that is even the best option. Using the wizard, I don't have any code to show for it and the report works like it should, I just need to figure out how to configure it further.

When I load the report from my c: drive it works fine:

Now when I load the report from solution explorer it tells me "Load report failed. The system cannot find the file specified"

I am new in VB 2005. I have problem loading data in report viewer, data loaded successfully but it is not the current data. I am entering production details into the database (access 2007) . It will add successfully. Then I open production report there is no current updated data. It will show when I close the vb 2005 and reopen it.

i hve create combobox & text box and add database source to my project...i know how to binding data or load data to combobox using SELECT query..but can i change SELECT to INSERT query cz i wont when i type data into textbox,data will be in database...second..can i binding without add database to project..i mean mydatabase in debug folder..i hve problem binding data if database is not in myproject..

i have a one two many relationship on a form that loads empty so that the user have to do a search in order to populate the data into the form. To acomplish this, i created a filter (query) in the dataset. The filter works fine for the parent data, but how can i load its corresponding child data?

I have created an application using vb.net 2008 and for reports Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008 but the problem is, when I run the application in another machine away from developing box, I get the Load report failed notice. I don't have any idea on how I should approach this issue. I tried installing the CRRedist2008_x86 and CRRedist2005_x86 but still the problem won't go away.

I simply created a "Report" folder on the the project and "crTxEmpMaster.rpt" is created on the "Report" folder.I tried load a .rpt file for Crystal Report, but it occured "Load report failed" What is wrong wth it? #1 and #2 both failed.

I'm having a problem with my crystal report with regards to report footer. I want to display the data from the table, column name "Remarks" in report footer but when I try to call the data it doesn't show the remarks. I'm using VB 6 and mdb files as my back end. Let's say I've got a TableLayoutPanel with 50 cells in it. Inside each cell is a separate text label. If I want to change the color of each of those 50 labels at run-time to the same color, is there an efficient way to do it? (so that I don't have to write 50 lines of LabelX.ForeColor = X, etc).
Not that I would mind writing 50 lines of code for this, but I would like to figure out the most efficient way to do this sort of thing, for future reference.

I'm fairly new to VB and I had a quick question. I have a multi-line text box that currently looks (line for line) like this:
scn <Name>
Begin <Start Variable>
End
What I am trying to do is make so when I enter text into a different text box (lets call it textbox2) and push an 'Update' button, it replaces a certain part of the original text box. For example:
If I enter "Dogs and Cats" into textbox2 and push update, then this:scn <Name>
becomes this:scn Dogs and Cats
How would you do that? Excuse my lack of VB programming lingo like I said I'm new to this language.

I am trying to change the DWORD value in a specific registry path. It starts with the user who is entering the value in decimal into a text box. Then with the click of a button, the application takes that value and change the existing value of the DWORD to the new one typed into the text box. I think I have manage to get it to work with "strings" but I seem to get stuck when it comes to the DWORD key. I have a feeling it have something to do with the hexadecimal value which is set by default. Do I need to create a converter?

I have a project im working on and im trying to change the font color of a specific string basically how vb does while your coding. (eg if i type dim it turns blue).I want to do this with a textbox in a vb application to show a topic of interest. It needs to be dynamic so when a user types it only changes the color of the specified string. I have tried
If TextBox2.Text.Contains("dim") Then
TextBox2.ForeColor = Color.Red
End If
but this changes all the text in the textbox to the color.

I am using crystal report to make my report. But problem is that I cant use same SQL Command there in report parameter because its different. I am going to show you my code so that you can understand it. I have a report & a form where I have one text box one button & one crystal report viewer. I have imported all fields by using report wizard. Even I have created parameter(name) there. So that user can get specific record by typing it there in the text box. However here is my code for button1:

It means it will not show student`s ID & name again & again. On the top of the report it will show student`s ID & name for once & depending on ID it will show student`s mark on report. I guess I have to use something like that Select * from result where text1.text = name of the parameter. But problem is that I cant use same command there in formula workshop.

was wondering if it is possible for a person to set a specific height value for the detail section in crystal reports.I want the section to have 10 records and maintain a certain height.If the records are for example 2 or any number less than 10, the detailed section should maintain this specific height.
I am creating a receipt but the problem is that if i have less records, the size of the report is reduced..

I want to know how can I get specific record to make report? For example I have student information there in my program. Its easy to create a report of all students. but if user wants to get & print specific record of a student what should I do? I have another question to ask. I have heard it that its possible to show each specific record there in each page by using NewPageAfter or NewPageBefore. I need advise on how to solve this scenario. I am not sure whether I should use any Report Application such as Crystal Report or I can just simply use datagridview.My scenario:In a new form, a table will show a least 3 columns.
First, ItemID
2nd, Total Quantity Sold for the Current Month
3rd, Total Quantity Sold: Last month
ItemID Current (Nov) October
ABA1 100 85
ABB1 80 90
Hence, I can compare the figure of the current month with the past few month.Right now, I do not have any problems building SQL_String for calculating the Total Qty Sold for the Current month and display it via DataGridView. But I am not sure how to additional column that calculate the Total for the past few month

I am trying to convert a VB6 Data Report (.dsr file) to a Crystal Report through the migration process within Visual Studio. I have read articles that reference adding a Data Report to a Project from Visual Studio 2005/2008 and that it will convert the Data Report to a Crystal Report, but I have not been successful in doing so. Does the VB6 Data Environment need to be converted too? Has anyone been able to do this successfully and if so, how?

I am working on a simple window application (VS2010,VB.NET). It's an HR management App - Employees records.I need simply insert/edit Employee Info, reports in Excel (with out crystal reports) & Show in Grid.So I am thinking of using Telerik RAD WinForms (2011) only because it looks cool. But I also know that Telerik could be a real pain when you need more flexibility.Although my application is quite basic still I want to determine whether I should go with Telerik or just use standard Windows Forms functionality? How can I generate custom report in specific format.Also It would be nice if some one point me to some sample application or VB.NET windows Tutorials?

I wonder if it is possible to find a specific row and specific columns in data base file (Access) . You see , I am using a DataGridView control to show only SOME of the columns (fields) of a table from an Access file . For example , lets say that in the DataGridView control I only show the following fields :Field1 , Field2 and Field3 .Now , when the user selects an entry in the DataGridView control , I want to insert the text from Field4 into a text box on the form .
The problem , however , is that I don't know how to get the specific row in the data base file and also I don't know how to get the text in column (field) Field4 of that row .One thing that might be important is that the index of the row in the data base file is not necessarily the same with the index of the current row in the DataGridView control . This is because in the DataGridView control the rows are order by the contents in the ID Field .ol .

I am new to Visual Basic (I currently have VB 2008 Express to play with) and have a question about automating MS Access applications.I have a number of MS access applications that interact with MS Excel, Windows commands and Adobe writer.The applications have multiple forms that require input and/or selection from dropdown list which are repeated for 15 different selections manually.Rather than change the application can I write something in VB to perform the manual process of filling foelds and clicking buttons? e.g. I can open a DB, display a form and then this requires two fields to have a date input, then a new form loads and a dropdown is selected. This is used to generate a report.I can see how to run the report and load forms, but can/how do I update the fields in the form.
