how to get the time using VB.Net.It has some useful information in addition to the time such as Latitude and Longitude and on what date Daylight Saving starts as in "Spring forward, fall back".This is different for different countries.
I have a program which is made with 12 labels, the first set of six are randomly generated and the second set are values obtained from the first set and the user has to choose in ascending order the numbers on the first set.The values chosen will be trasferred to the second set and then with a "check" button that set of labels have to be rearranged and compared to the user input. If the user for example manage to choose the right order, he will obtained a 6 of 6 and he will recieve a message. My problem is on the rearrage and compare part.
The code I made is very simple but is not working, basically it only check if the next value is smaller that the previous and changed its back color according to the case.
Here the code:
'check button Private Sub Button3_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button3.Click Dim Score As Integer Score = 1
[code]....
I would like to have a correct rearrange of the numbers and introduce a message according to the accuracy of the user.
I'd like to get the clock running on my program which is the clock from the computer and displays it into the label text of my window form. I'm using VB 2008 Express edition and I only get the current value of the time at the moment the application starts but not running as a clock. Is there anyway to do this? I used the line 'Me.Label3.Text = TimeOfDay'.
i have a task to create a TCP Server (a program that is listening on its network card interfaces for incoming data stream).I have search on the internet and i found that i can use two methods : Socket or TCPListener class.I have created an example for Socket class, but i wondering how could i test it? I need to check that if another computer in the network send some string data to the listener computer , then this message should be displayed. Here is the example from microsoft that i am using for TCP Server using Socket:
Public Shared Sub Main() ' Data buffer for incoming data. Dim data = nothingc[code]....
But it does not work because of the PORT setting. If in the TCP Server i have "Dim localEndPoint As New IPEndPoint(ipAddress, 0)" the client crashes, but if i change the port from any (0) to 11000 for example, the client works fine.Do you know why?
Later edit2:Maybe i should have started with this question:Which method is recommended for my scope?asynchronous or synchronous method ?
I'm a totally newb to VB and I want to do this. I want to do display system clock into a textbox. The trick is that I want it to be synchronized with the Windows XP clock. I want to have something like +/- 100 ms accuracy.
Each 'second' change will trigger an output pin to ground into the parallel port. This is very important that the 'second' change in the same time the Windows XP second change. Do not care about the parallel output thing, I'm nearly there. My main concern is the synchronisation with Windows clock.
In my code, I've added a counter that increment +1 at each 'second' change. So, when the 'n' value will reach a determined value, it will trigger another event.

I searched on the net and I found a thing about NIST time server.. Maybe this could be an otpion, but I have even no idea about how using it... I'm a total newb, but I'm ready to learn. So, please use simple language, no hard to understand acronym etc.
I'm writing a financial calculator. I know that my calculations are more precise when Decimal format is used. But when I calculate 314/365, the answer given by VB is 0.8602814581, where as the real answer is 0.8602739726. This ends up affecting my calculations quite a bit.
I have to display all the digits of 2^90. This is within the reach of the Decimal format which can display up to 2^96-1. The Decimal format stops displaying after the 15th digit. The real answer for 2^90 is : 12 379 400 392 853 802 274 899 124 224 (29 digits)
Here is what I do: Dim a As Decimal = 2^90 TextBox1.Text = a
I need to write a method in C# to save all rows in a given datatable back to the database, but I cannot depend on the rowstate of each row. I can't think of how best to do this without extensive looping through the database table data or constant database querying.
I want to essentially perform the following insert / update for each row in the datatable, but more efficiently:
I am using this code to try to connect to a computer/server from my desk top. but keep getting errors The RPC server is unavailable. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BA)
Dim options As ConnectionOptions options = New ConnectionOptions()
I looking for a solution for how to check if a connection to a remote computer exist or not using vb.net.
I 'm writing a program which will request data from a remote sql server. I need to check if the connection to the remote server exist, before open the connection or run the the sql command.
I need to check if the explorer.exe process is running on a remote computer to verify that there is a user logged on the computer. I Also want to get the Process Owner of the explorer.exe process to check which user is logged on. I have found some VBscript examples online, but i can't seem to get them to work. If anyone knows of a better way of checking if and what user is logged on to a computer, please give me a reply also. I have tried System.Diagnostics.Process.GetProcesses, but i can't seem to get the owner of the process, maybe WMI will do the trick ?
I am trying to make a vb.net program which will perform WMI queries to check for remote computer's name and OS. I manage to do the first query of name using the code below..
[Code]...
I am getting error "Local variable 'query' is already declared in the current block. (BC30288)".I understand that I am using same name for the object variable for performing subsequent query. Is there a way in which I can dispose the variable completely and reuse it again for querying the new required WMI detail? My search in the net couldn't give me any clue as of how to clear the variable and use it again. The issue is with two variables "query" and "searcher". Is it only possible that I should give unique names to each query object variable as I might add more queries later on?
I am developing a computer application designed to monitor the network and CPU statistics on a computer remotely. The monitored computer would have my program installed and the monitoring computer would display, in a form, the information being sent from the remote client. The application does not send any information regarding packets, user names, passwords, etc. It is solely meant for monitoring CPU performance and Network resources remotely.
What would be the best method to send this information over to my host machine?I am programing in Visual Studio 2008 on windows XP. The client machine is also XP. I know this sounds a little shady, but it is required for my little business (http://www.iquorum.net) to monitor what and when something happens on our machines when I and my employees are away.
i have encountered a problem, i want to access the data coming to the computer from the in-built bluetooth module of a computer on windows platform, this data has been sent by a remote bluetooth module say a by an autonomous device (just like a bluetooth mouse connecting to the computer). The to be sent is in the form of numbers and i need these to manipulate on the computer.
I have a desktop computer with a cable connection on the back that allows me to watch TV on the computer using Windows Media Center. I had the idea of writing a program that would access this feed and send it to another computer (laptop) via my network. That way I would be able to watch TV from anywhere that my network spans. I have no idea if this is possible or how I would even do it,
So I have three questions. 1: Is it possible? 2: How would I go about access the feed? 3: How would I send it over the network?
My original thought was doing it in Flash, but I'm not very good at Flash so I wanted to do it in VB.Net.
I need to copy a file from a local computer to a remote computer on the network, if i try to use File.Copy without logon i get the following error:"Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password."How do I provide user name and password for file copy?
Problem:When my computer restarts my mapped drive appears under My Computer. When I try to use it from code I get errors. If I open the mapped drive by double clicking it, and then try the code, it works. What I discovered is that when my computer starts the status, using net use, is
