Clearing Textboxes / Comboboxes When Button Clicked
Jan 29, 2009
I would like to create a button that clears textboxes and comboboxes when it is clicked. For example when 'btnClear' is clicked then txtDate gets cleared (i.e. txtDate is 22/05/2000 then when btnClear is clicked it has nothing in it)
I have already tried
txtDate = ""
and
txtDate = Nothing
but an error comes up.
I was looking for some better way of coding to populate all text boxes and make them visible once a button is clicked. I have a letter like format on a page with labels displaying address, name etc and it was recommended that on this page some of the information should be able to be edited. The idea I had was to keep the labels displaying the information but then when the edit details button is clicked the labels disappear, text boxes will appear and be populated with the same text as the label to allow the user to edit the details.
I seem to repeating lines of code but changing one thing each time on page load Dim Sname As String = Request.QueryString("Name") lblStuName.Text = Sname tbStuName.Text = Sname tbStuName.visible=false [Code] .....
On edit button tbStuName.visible=true tbAddress.visible = true etc..
On the save button sqlStatement = "UPDATE StuTable SET Name = '" & lblStuName.Text & "', Address = '" & lblAddress.Text My code seems very repetitive in many parts, I was looking for a better coding style to do this.
how to do array of textboxes when a user input a number of textbox to be loaded and when the button clicked, the array of textbox that the user enters will appear?
I have three textboxes and a button. The button's role is to clear all the textboxes. This one textbox that I don't want to clear keeps clearing. What do I have to do for this one textbox to not clear up when the clear button is pressed ?
I want to clear all of the text boxes in a groupbox without hard coding them all. I tried the following snippet, but it also clears all of the form labels which I would like to keep. For Each TextBox In GroupBox1.Controls TextBox.Text = "" Next
I have developed a simple form with some checkboxes, textboxes, radiobuttons, and textboxes inside a groupbox. Initially I had all of this inside 3 tabs. I created a button to clear all selections so user can restart the process of selection if so choses. It does not work (see below). I thought it is the tabs - so I went on and removed them (by coping the groupbox - deleting the tabs and then pasting the groubox into the main form). The code still does not work. Is there a setting that I must change or something else because a created a simple form with a couple of groupboxes that had all the above mentioned and it works just fine - all of them clear. Just in my form it does not work
When clearing input from users. What is the difference between clearing it in these two forms txtExample.Clear() versus txtExample.Text = String.Empty
The only difference that I could find was that the labels aren't cleared with .Clear() (or at least from what I inferred from my book that's not possible). Is there a noticeable speed difference or should I just clear both labels and txt boxes with String.Empty
I have several textboxes in a form, and have a button which inserts all the values in a Database and I have to clear the content of all the textboxes and focus to the first one right after pressing the button. Now I can easily do that using the Clear method of each of the textboxes but it takes 10-12 lines of code just for that. Can I do that in one go?
I'm using VB 2005 and have an Edit - Entry form with Textboxes and several Comboboxes. I populate the Comboboxes with Arraylists as shown below. I populate a datatable with the Employee data from my SQL Server. I assign the BindingSource1.Datasource to my Datatable then add Databindings to the ComboControls. The (Fields.STAFF_MGR_ID.ToString) is from an Enum. When all is complete my textbox fields Bind and move with the MoveNext.. no problem, but the comboboxes display nothing.
Dim Manager2 As New ArrayList While dr.Read With Manager2 .Add(New ListContents(dr(1).ToString, CInt(dr(0)))) [Code] .....
I have this form filled with data using dataset, data adapter 1 Dataset , 8 data adapters Textboxes are ok and binding .. fills by 1 data adapter ComboBoxs are filled by 7 data adapters
The problem is 6 ComboBoxes data is from one table filtered by id1 i.e.: cmb1 : select id2,content from table2 where id1 = 1 cmb2 : select id2,content from table2 where id1 = 2 cmb3 : select id2,content from table2 where id1 = 3 ........ Now how can I bind all ComboBoxs with textboxes?
I have a windows form on which there is a textbox and a command button. When user inputs an integer in the textbox and clicks on the button, the userform grows and adds that many number of comboboxes and textboxes in a panel.
how to add variable number of comboboxes and textboxes at run time.
I have an edit Contact Form that pulls data from access and loads it into textboxes and comboboxes. The text is working fine, but I am trying to pull a number from the ddatabase and display that value in a combobox that already has selections in it, so the user can edit it. For example the combo box is filled with 1,000,000 - 60,000,000 and if the number in the database is 2,000,000 I wan the combobox to display 2,000,000 Here is the

I have tried selectedtext, selectedvalue, and selecteditem but none of them work because its a number.
i try to make an array of controls and by clicking buttons add new textboxes or comboboxes here is my code
Public Class Form1 Dim CArray() As Control Dim lngArrayNum As Long = 0
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Add_Control()End Sub Private Sub Add_Control(Optional ByVal intType As Integer = 0)
I need to write client / server application... I need that client write it`s data in textboxes or comboboxes or check any checkboxes and etc. but I need that this info saved not in it`s own computer,on server...
I use VB 2010 Express My problem is:I have two comboboxes one button and one textbox. So what I am trying to do is.Add company names Like EA Games and lets say product name is Crysis.and I want it to show the barcode number of the product n P.I.D?
I have numerous buttons on a form, one each to select a playing card (52 buttons). When the Card(button) is selected I want to highlight it by changing the border from black to Red, then if reclicked from change back from red to black, easy enough (if then else). So that I do not have to copy this code 52 times I wanted to create a module as follows:
Sub ChangeButtonBorderColor(ByRef ButtonName) If (Equals(ButtonName.BorderBrush, Brushes.Red)) Then ButtonName.BorderBrush = Brushes.Black
How to make a link button visible after another button has been clicked in asp.net(vb) in button_click()
it says error as "Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
i've done this in my code
Protected Sub InsertButton_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Dim receipt As LinkButton = FormView1.FindControl("LinkButton1") ' receipt.Enabled = "true"
I have already done the creation of button and the dragging of button at runtime already. But now i need to know how do i save the last dragged button on the form and also detect the name of the last clicked button.so lets say i now drag a button to coordinates 25,254. so when i exit the form and the next time i launch it, the button will still be at 25,254. and this one will go on for the number of button i created like 100. so when i launch the form the 100 button will be at the exact position where i last saved them.the second part is lets say i created button1 and button2 on the form in runtime. so when i clicked the first button, it should display button1. and if i clicked on button 2, it should say button2. same goes for like 100buttons.
this is a subset of a previously posted problem, I have narrowed down my issue and am reposting a question from this thread: [URL] I have apparently confused the compiler by renaming some comboboxes in Visual Basic .net express? (See relevant code below) I think the confusion is in who should handle what, with two routines named with variations of ComboBox1 and one handling the other ( it confuses me just trying to interpret it mentally):
I have a form with 4 comboboxes and a button. The first combobox is enabled, but the rest of the controls are disabled. When the form is opened I fill the first combobox (cbxMethod) with a datatable. When the user selects something in cbxMethod the next combobox (cbxStudy) will be filled and so on. When the last combobox (cbxAnalyte) has a selected value I want to enable the button and give it focus so the user can move forward with the program. I basically want to force the user to move from one combobox to the other, until all are filled.I am currently using the SelectionValueChange event, but this event only fires when the user changes the value with their mouse or hits the Enter key, not when the user hits the Tab key.
Public Class frmCalculatedAnalyte Private cv_dt As New DataTable Public Sub New()
i have a form with 10 designated slots for letter to be entered (Like the free letter spaces on hangman), above these are 10 adjacent labels with a full stop "." as the text value, now i have created a button, Q to detect whether there is a. in the first box, and if there is enter the letter Q (Letter1.text = "Q"), elseif check the same for the second box. Now my problem is when i click the button, it still does nothing and letter 1 remains "." instead of "Q". also how would i end this string of else ifs? as in what if every text box is full then do what?
I am developing an application in which there are more than one buttons and i want to add some code on the click of every button, But I wished to know that which button has to be clicked by the user and after that some code will be executed and that code will be different for different buttons.

My btndisplay cost works, but my btnexitprogram does not close the application when clicked. I've ensured the button is correctly named and enabled. But when I click it does not close out, I use this simple code in other programs and it works.
I have a calculate button that, if clicked more than once adds the total of what I previously had to the new total as I am using a loop. I was thinking that I could get around this by only allowing the button to be clicked once, and if the user attempts to do this more than once a messagebox will appear saying that you can only calculate the price once and the form resets but i can't seem to get any code working.
how can I get this .bat command to run after my button is clicked I can make it like, "Run a certain .bat when button is clicked" , but I don't want that because people can go inside my .bat and hack my IP. So I was wondering is there a way I can put that .bat command into my VB 2010 Express
