I have a dilemma whereby I have a form which contains a number of comboboxes that contain information/options/items that may be invalid/out-of-date in certain circumstances.I can't simply remove the out-of-date information from the items, but I do want to give the user a visual-clue when options are invalid.
View 2 RepliesI have a combo box which will store a list of RGB values generated when the user makes a custom color in the color dialog. The values are stored in the combo box in RRR, GGG, BBB format. I have this working. The code for this is as follows:

I have a combobox with a given width.
It may occur that one row of the data is partially hidden (the combobox might be too narrow). I'd like to show the whole line by using a tooltip or right-click context menu.
Currently I can't find how to 'catch' the row that I'm currently holding on or passing over by mouse.
I've got a combobox which loads the system colour list, the selected colour is stored in the registry (i've tried storing the index number value aswell as the colour name - how can i get the combobox to display the stored colour as the default colour when the form loads? It always defaults to the first item in the colour list I've tried

imagine an array of data containing a gray scale image and you want the bar chart (say 20x20) to display a section of that image as both the magnitude of the data and its shade of gray. if you were to look vertically down on the 3D barGraph you should see the section of the image. Is this at all possible? The projetc relates to clutter intensity in a radar image if this interests you.

I have a datagridview which has mixed values in one column. Is there a way to add a control into the Value cell depending on the row? For example, for Name and Age row, it will be a regulator textbox but for the Products row, I want to be able to add a combobox.
View 2 RepliesI have a ListView with the columns 'Name', 'Expected', 'Total', and I want to add another column saying 'Recount' at the end. The 'Recount' column will ideally have a checkbox only if the 'Expected' value is larger than the 'Total' value.
So far I have got the ListView with columns and can add a check box on the left hand side, but that check box is not under a column heading (though I can probably put another column with no values in there to work around that) and it is on all of the records.

All the examples I've found are regarding single dimension collections - 'how to find name within this collection', and the responses use strings to search through them, but somehow the Info class is being treated differently, and I'm not sure how to translate this..
This is a WinForms Application in VB. In my application I am trying to make it easier for the user to pick out items in a list quickly based on the items text color.. So I am trying to assign the color to each item using a select case statement as below... The problem is that I am getting an error saying "Public member 'Attributes' on type 'String' not found." I did notice that when I did the .attributes part when I hit "." and typed "att" it did not appear in the intelisense box in vb.. Which makes me think I need to assign the name "attributes" somehow to the dropdownbox first.. It should be noted that u_lookupNumber_box is the name of the drop down box on my form..
I have a combobox called cbMaterialType on a windows form that's bound to a table in SQL - everything loads great and the combobox displays 'Material' items as it should, in that table I have two fields - Material (as mentioned above) which is a char(25) and InStock which is an nchar(1). If the InStock field contains a '1', I'd like the individual material to be green in the combobox, if '0', then red. I have the simple code in the drawitem event of the combobox as follows, but can't seem to get any results at all:

I've never worked with any form of color in comboboxes before and this is my first attempt at the drawitem event.
I want a context menu strip to have 4 specific items. For testing purposes, we call them Item1, Item2, Item3, and Item4.I've set up a context menu strip like this, and I am using it for about 20 different controls. I want these four items to do different things based on what control the user right clicks. The only way I could think of doing this, was to make 20 context menu strips and create a click event for each item. This obviously, seems like a really bad way of doing it.Does anyone have any suggestions or another way of making the click events for the individual Items based on what control is right clicked?
View 6 RepliesI am using VB.NET (version 2008). I have two types of items populating in a listbox (checked listbox). For example: lets say one is type "A" and other is "Type B". Their names maybe same so if the user sees those items in listbox then he won;t be able to determine their type until he click on them and checks out its properties. I wanted that I add each item to listbox and colour them so that blue for example means type "A" is there and red means the other. So this way I will be able to know at a glance that how many item of what type is present. I guess it may not be possible to do that in a standard checkedlistbox. I am also using component factory's krypton controls which enhance the gui of an application. But I dunno if I can progress using that.

It's a list of computer systems, basically, that the user can purchase.I need to read this file, line-by-line, into an array. Let's call this array csvline().The first line of the text file would stored in csvline(0). Line two would be stored in csvline(1). And so on. (I've started with zero because that's where VB starts its arrays). A drop-down list would then enable the user to select 1, 2 or 3 (or however many lines/systems are stored in the file). Upon selecting a number - say, 1 - csvline(0) would be displayed inside a textbox (textbox1, let's say). If 2 was selected, csvline(1) would be displayed, and so on.
It's not the formatting I need help with, though; that's the easy part. I just need someone to help teach me how to read a CSV file line-by-line, putting each line into a string array - csvlines(count) - then increment count by one so that the next line is read into another slot.So far, I've been able to paste the numbers of each system into an combobox:

"Error 1 Value of type 'String' cannot be converted to '1-dimensional array of String'."
If I then put it as an array, ie: csvalue() = csvtranslator.ReadLine , I then get a different error message:"Error 1 Number of indices is less than the number of dimensions of the indexed array."

I'm trying to create a log on method for a system which will involve users selecting a colour from a paint panel and then placing/drawing the colour in 1 or more tiles of a grid, basically a 3x3 grid in which for example they selected the blue colour and drew in the top left tile and the bottom left tile. The logon is selecting the correct colour and placing the colour in the appropriate tile. What i want them to be able to do is place even a single pixel of colour so it has a high accuracy. So far i have a timer which loops from the width of the grid to the height of the grid.

To start with i have just hard coded the colour i want it to detect. At present it produces an error. Parameter must be positive and < Width the error is on System.Drawing.Point(i,j). If i place the mouse over the colour then run the program it will say it has been found, but otherwise it wont find the colour. I believe i am not updating the location of the pixel or something to that effect.

I'm making a combobox on a form. I want the combobox to have a list of choices from a table in a db. The two columns are a String and a Date. I want the date column to only show the year. I'm hoping I have the code right as it is above, but I'm not positive I've done the whole date thing right.

I'd like to replace all the white pixels in a bitmap image with pixels of the colour "Color.FromKnownColor(KnownColor.MenuHighlight)". Is there some method in the Image, Bitmap or Graphics classes I can use, or will I simply have to inspect each pixel in the image with GetPixel, check whether it is a white pixel, and then set it with SetPixel?Here is the code I am using now:

I have a form in my vb.net application used to take the data about the returned stock. The form contains two comboboxes. One, named combobox5, contains invoice numbers and the other, named combobox3, contains party codes. Both the comboboxes are pre_loaded using sqldataadapter.
Now what i want is to change the party code in combobox3 when the invoice number is changed in combobox5. Elaborating it further, When Stock is issued the party code is stored along with the invoice number to keep track of to which party was the stock issued. Now when stock is returned i want to keep track that which party has returned the stock and i want that the party code should be automatically selected when the invoice number is changed and it should be what is stored in the database against that particular invoice number....
