I have a program which will read data from comport when ever there is data on comport. I am using Comport.DataReceived event to do that.My program will receive data very frequently and it is working fine. The problem is, it will work for 3 to 4 days fine but after that my receive data will slow down. I am receiving data with high delay (about 10-15 min). There will be continuous data to my comport.

I have a button on the screen 'Next' which performs some activities, but at the end I want to move to the next row in a datagridview to show the user what record they have moved to. I expected this to be easy, using the following code:
Dim CurDGVIndx As Integer = DataGridViewPtList.CurrentRow.Index
DataGridViewPtList.Rows(CurDGVIndx + 1).Selected = True
BUT.... Yes the highlighted record is the next record using this, however the selection (where the little arrow indicator is) stays on the original row. The selector needs to move too!

I'm trying to access a device with modbus in VB or C#. I've been searching all over for a simple way to do it. I know that It would be connecting through a TCP Connection, and I know the address of the device. I need to read the input on it (whether of not it's on), and to toggle the relay on it as well.

I want to develop Modbus RTU Master program ..
I am expert in Modbus communication and I have designed the Modbus pre-programmed remote controls ,, Now I want to interface some Modbus RTU slave devices to my own developed application ...
I am much familiar with the Modbus RTU syntax and I've tried following to initiate the the master query but I am getting initial 3 bytes ok ,, rest of the bytes are changing the values on COM port so slave is not responding to my command ..

i m working on an application which communicates with PLC machine using Modbus protocol. Now i m able to generate and communicate a modbus data frame with PLC the only problem that i m facing is that in all the data frames of modbus the last ascii characters should be Carriage return + Line feed which should be read by the PLC as 0D 0A that is in Hexadecimal form. But i m not able to do this. The rest entire string is properly read by the PLC but How do I make it read the CR+LF.

I have a USB gadget that appears to Windows as a USB serial port, there is no special driver.I know the USB Vendor ID, and the USB Product ID, I need 1 or 2 functions:
First: IsThisUsbDevicePresent( Vendor_ID, Product_ID )
Second: Some means of transforming the above into "COM1" or "COM9" or what ever it is so I can call it. And that- should be doable from VB...

I am having trouble sending data to a comport..... I am a noob at this and have been doing my head in... I have done a fair bit to a few programs that I have on the go, but am stuck at sending some data to the comport...
I have in form1 put the serial port contol and added SerialPort1.Open() to that. I have then added 3 buttons that I was to use to send data to the port... Since this is for a radio scanner the buttons turn the backlight on / dim and off.....
LTN is used to turn the light on and works fine in hyperterminal.. I have got the port settings right in vs2008 but the code is wrong.
I have:
code:
Then I get warning of Name 'LTN' is not declared...

I'm trying to communicate through a serial port with separate subroutines for establishing the connection to the device and handling routine messages. I'm able to establish the connection, but reference to the COMPort in another subroutine fails with a message that the port is closed. I can successfully communicate using COMPort.Write commands within the connection subroutine, so I know that works. How do I pass a reference for the comport to other subroutines?

I want to code an app with recreational purposes. This should be a Desktop app that detects itself running on other computers on the same LAN and communicates with them. By communication I mean that I should be able to pass anything from on to another. note that although I'm not asking for code (that would beat my purpose, of course) I think some small snippets wouldn't hurt. In any case what I really want is the "recommended procedure", I mean what Microsoft recommends for this environment, and documentation :)

I need to communicate between multiple applications (one server and multiple clients) in the LAN. While googling I came across 3 concepts (TCP/IP, Named Pipes and WCF). I also understand WCF needs lot of study for a starter like me. I need to have one (server) application running on one machine, the values generated by it should be displayed immediately on the other (client) application which will be running on multiple machines in a LAN. Also when the user pauses the process from the client application, it should pause the process on the server application.

I have an application which the user can open multiple instances on the same machine. However, a section of the app would have sync problems if more than 1 instance has control over it. This is where I thought of transferring control, or sharing, between them. What should I be looking into?
They would have to be able to identify which one of them has control and to send text information over. I thought IPC or Named Pipes could do the trick, but I'm unfamiliar with them and examples seem to indicate only a single server will work. Here, I have multiple instances of the same app and every one of them needs to be able to listen for that request for control.

I have a Delphi program that communicates with a vb.net dll that I created. The vb.net dll communicates with a Fluke scope meter via an RS232 connection. I have created a program that communicates correctly via RS232, giving me the anticipated value. Though, when I package this up as a dll and access the dll from my Delphi program I always receive a value of "1", rather than the value I was expecting (most cases a value in and around 240).I know that my delphi program is definitely communicating correctly with the dll and that my dll is definitely communicating with the scope meter
Here is my vb.net code:
Public Interface IFlukeComm
Function GetReading(ByVal Command As String, ByVal PortNum As Integer) As String

I've been trying for a long time to do what seems to be the most simplest of things..I have a remote host and I need to know if certain posts on that host are open or closed. Many examples on the net that I have found arent complete, and because I havent worked with VB.net for long I dont knowhow to complete them. Here is my code:: The issue is with this it tell me the target port is always closed, when I know that it is open.Code:Dim host As String = "www.google.com" Dim port As Integer = 80 Dim addr As IPAddress =CType(Dns.GetHostAddresses(host)(0), IPAddress) Try Dim tcpList As New TcpListener(addr, port)tcpList.Start() Catch sx As SocketException MessageBox.Show("port is closed") End TryA friend of mine suggested using WinSock.. I've not dealt with it before so I don't know what he's on about.

I am basically after some information on what you would believe to be the best way to send strings from a mobile device (possibly a windows mobile phone) to a PC and vise versa. Just so you know the distance could be upto 4 miles and no direct line of sight.
