I'm in the middle of writing an application which fills two seperate listboxes with the name of all the contents in two different specified directories.The application is at the stage where this works, here is the code for it:

I am to make a program that lets the user save certain data values with a delimiter(":") to a text file(done) Example of data entries [code]Then i am to load those values to a listbox , i was able to do that as well and i include the delimiter when i load the values.Now i am supposed to let the user enter any month/year value for date(mm/yyyy) such as 06/2010 and if any of the entries match the search string then either the program selects those values in the listbox or a popup msgbox is used to show the entries. How the result is displayed is a little irrelevant, but how do i search and atleast select the matching entries in the listbox ? and not just the first instance but all instances of the search string.
View 3 Repliesam using sql 2005 and vb 2008.i need to compare dates and select matching records betweem a selected date range.say records between 11/13/2010 and 11/20/2010.e.thing is working ok except when it comes to selecting dates between 11/1/2010 and 11/9/2010.this is happening because when am retrieving the dates from database,its being retrieved in the format 11/01/2010 instead of 11/1/2010 and so it reports no records found,and knowing the limits of sql 2005 this is the only way i can retrieve the date. I could in theory change the syntax of the script completely but I would rather not. It is designed like this to enable strings without quotes because it will be included in an XML file and quotes in that context were getting messy and very prone to errors and readability issues. If this fails I could redesign using something other than quotes to mark out strings but I would rather use this method.
Preferably, unless there is some other way I am not aware of, I would like to do this using regex. I am aware that the standard regex is not really capable of this but I believe this is possible using MatchEvaluators in vb.net and some form of recursion based replacing. However I have not been able to get my head around it for the last day or so, possibly because it is hugely difficult, possibly because I am ill, or possibly because I am plain thick. I do have the following regex for parts of it.
Detecting the parentheses: (w*?)((.*?))(?=[^(+)]*((|$))
Detecting the square brackets: [[(.*?)]](?=[^[+]]*([[|$))

How do you compare the contents of the textbox with result of the dataset?

I have a program where you have three entries, CD name, artist, price and it goes into a listbox and .txt file when closing. I have to have a message box if you enter the same CD name. I have a code to open the .txt file and compare strings but I need to change it to compare only the CD name and not all three entries. Is there a way to do my string compare against my listbox without opening the .txt file?? The program loads the listbox from the .txt file when opening. I am working on a project that uses multiple forms, each with a listbox for output. I had everything working fine and decided to do some final tweaking. I added some comments and changed each forms FormBorderStyle to (Fixed3D) from (Sizeable). When I did a final test run, all of my listboxes come up blank... I went back and reverted FormBorderStyle to (Sizeable) from (Fixed3D).
All of my listboxs, on multiple forms, are still blank.
I have a form with 13 listbox's which I populate from an SQLCE database. Currently I have the same code written 13 times but now I want to run a loop so I can reduce the amount of coding. I cannot figure out how to make a loop work with the .datasource and .displaymember. The loop works fine up to the lines with .datasource and .displaymenber. I want to set a certain column to true or false automatically based on what value another column has entered. I managed to get this working by myself using the 'SQL Pane' in VB and testing it by using execute sql but I don't know what to do now. I assumed that I could just save it and it would work from there but that's not the case, it dissapears from the SQL Pane if I close the project (even though it worked fine when I ran the project the first time), so where do I put it/what do I do with it in order to get this to work?

I am trying to create a code where I placed sets of numbers in an array.I'll use a masktextbox to have the user enter the numbers to match what's in the array. If the user enters the number, ex: social, and the data is correct (matches the numbers in the array), something happens if the number entered in the masktextbox does not match any of the number sets in an array then another thing happens.The masktextbox so far only validates format and gets number only, however, I want the number entered to match whats in the array.

View 15 RepliesI have an app that I'm calling up a 3rd party API.. and on each call I want to store off the patient data in to logs that are like weekly.. so on each call to the API I want to encrypt the data and push as a line into a file..I kinda dont want to open the file.. add in data then encrypt the whole file, that seems like extra work to me.so if I want to encypt the data from string to byte whats the best way to push into a file and then read out.. should I set the string to be a certain lenght so my writes and reads match up ? or is there a way to write to a data file so that it knows the end of the entry ? should I use a type class for this ?

I'm using the MS example script [URL] to install a COM+ application. For uninstall I have a script that shuts down the app, calls Remove from the Catelog App Collection, and then I call regsvr32 /u. This cleans up the COM entries and removes my app from the catelog but leaves behind the CoClass and Interfaces in HKEY_LOCALSoftwareMicrosoftCom3Selfreg. How should the script remove the SelfReg values?
