Conditional Code To Open Different Forms Based On Dropped Text?
Apr 12, 2011
I am new to VB and I have two detail listviews with one full of items that can be droppedinto the other. I have three groups in Listview1 and I would like different forms to open up based on the group each dropped item belongs to. I was able to open Form2 on drop by adding Form2.Show() at the end of the ListView_DragDrop handler sub, but this opens forevery item and I want different forms to open depending on the ListViewGroup the item belongs to.I set the items and groups in the property windows and not in code; I do not know if this makes a difference. So here is the code I have on Form 1 where the listviews are:Public Class Form1
Private Sub ListView_ItemDrag(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As _
System.Windows.Forms.ItemDragEventArgs) Handles ListView1.ItemDrag, _
ListView2.ItemDrag
I've tried searching on this but can't seem to find an answer anywhere, so hopefully someone here can help. I want to insert an conditional XML tag based on whether or not a count is above one, but am not sure how to do it.For example, I have two XElements that are like this:
<Blob> <Group> Stuff 1 </Group> </Blob>
[Code]...
But that is not working. Does anyone have a way to do this from within the XML Literal as desired above?
Have a column of dates which i need to compare to a specific time of the year, which establishes what calculation needs to be applyed then depending on the outcome apply conditional formating to highlight an adjcent cell, but need to remove the YY element as the contents spans multiple years.
if the date in A1 is between 1st Jan & 14th Mar use -8 if the date in A1 is between 15th Mar & 15th Oct use -17 if the date in A1 is between 16th Oct & 31st Dec use -8
Then deduct the above value from B1 to give a target for each row (from 3 onwards)if the target is < the value in n then change background orange in f
I just want to open a form based on a users input into the textbox
Public Class MainForm
Private Sub PictureBox1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles TagBox1.Click Form2.Show()
[CODE]....
I already have it opening the form2 based on a click from the picture, but decided aginst that design. Also any design on form2? (below) I am storing values for tags inside the forms....
Public Class Form2
Private Sub saveButton_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles saveButton.Click My.Settings.SaveTitle = TextBox1.Text
I have a grid containing rows flagged with different priorities. I want to color the high priority rows red, low ones blue, etc. I'd like to set the shade based on a mathmatically calculated gradient rather than arbitrarily assigning colors to specific priorities. How can I extract a single color from a single point along gradient?
So essentially, I have this text editor. How can I make it so when I drop a text file over it, it opens it in textbox2? Or when I doubleclick on the file, it automatically opens it in my program (in textbox2).
I insert a text box into form1. I move the mouse pointer on top of the text box. I press down on the left mouse button and begin to drag the text box. The problem is when I let go of the mouse button the text box is not dropped. it remain floating around. My only way out of this is to press the escape key which places the text bnox bak to its original location. Thinking that it might be my mouse I tested it in Power point and everything works correctly.
I am coverting VB6 programs and I find that the following statement drops the leading zeros from the textbox tbLotNo.If I check the value of tbLotNo.text it is 0001, but it shows up in the Access 2010 database as
I have conditional code checking in a card game Im working on and it just feels wrong.I m looking for a better way.Right now, all my functions return a card. If I get a card Im usually done and can fall out of my nested structure. If I dont get a card I have to test a condition If card is nothing. And this condition gets repeated ad-nauseum.Here is a small sample of the code.
card = FindMaxTrump(playableCards) If Not card Is Nothing Then 'If we found a trump at all[code]....
This might be a fine way to do it, but the constant check for a null card is what has me wondering if there is a better approach I'm missing.
I would like to give permission to use this project to say, 10 users. The following code is fine for a single user. How can I write conditional code to provide the access to other nine users?
Submit button
If txtUsername.Text <> "Mahajan" Or txtPassword.Text <> "mh745" Then MsgBox "Access Denied! Either Username or Password is incorrect!", vbOKOnly + vbCritical, "Security Login" txtUsername.Text = "" txtPassword.Text = ""
I'm looking for a library for Autocomplete support in text controls which remembers all previous entries of the user and provide auto-complete support for it.For example for "recent files" I use [URL] and it works great. Do you know something like that for this purpose?
UPDATE : This is a .NET Winforms application and I'm using normal Text Control.
That title is really confusing I know. But I will try and make sense of this.If you drag a file onto a rich text box, it will add this little watermark-ish thing with the file extensions icon, and the file name.
Is there a way that I can get that files address, upon a certain event?
i have a database grade calculation and there is a result for example the result = 86 shown from the grid then the problem is how to make a text box that has an if and else statement telling if it passed or failed [code]its running its just that i really cant get the if function for database functions.
This is for a winform vb.net 2008 app. I'm bringing data back from a database and based on some static conditions... i want to change the color of the background and the text. There is no rowdatabound event in winform...
What is the code to open a text file and append data to it, in visual basic express edition?Normally one would write:open "data.txt" for append as #1 but visual basic express does not accept it.
Have a label on a form which I want to show run time status, and have a code module which stores some functions. How do I send text from code module functions to this label on form?
I am working on a project using Visual Studio .NET 2003.I am trying to open a second form based on user response to Yes/No Message Box. I have tried two different code variations. The first variation is:
Dim MsgAnswer As Boolean MsgAnswer = True Dim MsgRes As DialogResult Dim CustomerInfo1 As New Form
[code]....
With this code I get an exception error: An unhandled exception of type 'System.NullReferenceException' occurred in OrpheyOnOpen.exe Additional information: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
what WPF based apps are?Is it an application that runs under Silverlight? If so, how?I know; Windows Forms based apps, console apps,DLL _ Class Library Projectsand I've had an introduction to ASP.Net.What I mostly want to know is, if WPF apps are for Silverlight then do they also run in a server based fashion like anASP.NET website would when you create ASP.Net webpages? Is it a way of creating what looks like a FORMS BASED application but it runs in a browser instead or what? Please enlighten me a bit further as I have no idea what WPF is all about.
I have no idea what I have done wrong here, so I'll just attach my project as a zip file and see if any of you are kind enough to look into it for me.I am reasonably experienced in C#.NET but having trouble using VB.NET for a school assignment.I cannot open half of my forms in designer view because "To prevent possible data loss before loading the designer, the following errors must be resolved".
i was doing a fair amount of programming many years ago, like 10 it feels like, so I'm sorely not up to date on how my newly downloaded Visual Basic Express expects me to communicate with it.I am writing a program that pulls a cell from a database after the user has gone through several forms to determine which cells they want. When I write it like that, it doesn't sound very efficient, but I've designed it this way for usability. Here's where I have a problem: Should I store the path the user takes in a string, an array, what?
Here's an example:Someone wants baseball stats and trivia. They run my program, main form pops up, they select National League button, the NL Form pops up. Now the way my program is set up right now, is there are two ListBoxes on the form, one is populated, and as the user selects a Team from ListBox1, it jumps to ListBox2. Once they've selected all the teams they want info for, they click a button Next.
What I now need the program to do is show the next form "Team: name" once for each team, and insert the name of the team on the form in the appropriate label which I'll have blank. This form will also do the Listbox thing except the first listbox will populated with Topics like HR Stats, Pitching Stats, Coach History, etc.
I've been working on an application for awhile that, basically, allows the viewing and printing of a maintenance database. It allows the user to view basic information for the object and then view the maintenance history. My approach for the maintenance history is simply to have unique tables per object since a history has to be kept for each, however, I'm running into a problem in the application that allows the user to view the general information from one DB and the Maintenance history from the other DB.
Say you have Object ID BG1. I can enter the object ID into a search field, pull the data from the general DB and display the data, but I also need it to pull the information from the maintenance history and display. If maintenance history for this object is not found, then create a new table within the DB, fill the columns with the required fields and allow for the user to edit the history.
I am developing a software using microsoft visual studio basic 2010. I used a datagridview control to display a list of data from product table. What I want to do (actually I am not sure how to do it, or is there a way to do it), when I choose one of the value in one of the column inside the table, I want it to open a form that contain data(details) based on that value. How to do it? How to call the value that I pressed, so it can be used to open a new form containing the details of that value
Example of the data: (the "system" column) SYSTEM topaz nex1300 Nec If I pressed "topaz" system, it will prompt me to a new form containing the details of that "topaz" system.
I'm developing a Component. I'd like to do something when the component is dragged from the toolbox and dropped onto a form. For example display an about box.I don't want to annoy the developer by popping up an about box every time he refreshes his display or reloads the form.
