Connect To SQL Server 2005 Through Wireless Connection Between XP And
Feb 1, 2010
I have built a client-server VB.net inventory application for our company which connects to our Server machine running on Windows XP. We have 6 client machines running also on Windows XP that connects to the Server's database. Now, my problem is, "How do i connect a client machine running on Windows Vista to our Server running on Windows XP wirelessly?"
- Is there something I have to alter on the SQL Server Surface Area Configuration?
-Or do I have to change the 'Connection String' on my software application so as to properly connect to the Server from a Vista mahine? If then, how?
This is the error its throwing:"An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 53)"
I am attempting to write a program that will disable the Local Area Connection while leaving the Wireless connection enabled. My company is using net-books in our stores to demo air-cards and we need to keep them off of the LAN. I'm new to VB and VB.net, and it's been a while since I did any type of programming. I've gathered some code that others have posted in forums and tutorials and I'm working through a tutorial book, but I finally believe that I am stuck.
I've been Searching the Net for hours now, and i can't really seem to find anything clear and straight to the point.
I need to create a Server/Client application using VB.net 2008, it's actually my first time to have a database on another computer. So I first searched the internet for the things i need to make this software.
how to connect wampserver or phpmyadmin localhost to vb.net. I mean adding, searching, deleting, updating, listing of data from the localhost database via vb.net?
I've came across a little problem with my tcp / ip server. My client can connect to it with 127.0.0.1 ( localhost ), and 192.168.0.X, but every remote connection fails to connect.
Here's the connection rituals: Server listener = New System.Net.Sockets.TcpListener(System.Net.IPAddress.Any, Port) listener.Start() listenThread = New System.Threading.Thread(AddressOf doListen) listenThread.IsBackground = True listenThread.Start()
I have a client that wants to connect to his MySQL database using Dial-up/Modem connection. All i know is a phone number. I will be using VB.NET 2005 for this project. We also have a LAN Connection setup to other computer, but some of this computer only uses Dial-up to connect. The LAN connection works fine because i can just use the Local IP to create a connection string. But my problem is how do i get to connect to a remote server using a Dial-up? I know building a connection string require an IP to connect. Do i need to get the IP after a dial-up connection is connected or to i need to use different approach? I have a server and i have 10+ clients, the server has a T1 connection + a dial-up modem installed also.I created a POS system to all the clients, Some clients uses dial-up some uses LAN. What the server do is all the records of the clients POS will be sync to one database on the server in one table. If i'm in the server and and i selected a station/client and click SYNC button all the records on that client will be sync to the server.
How can I write a connection string? I has four different computer that can be connect via ethernet. How can I maintain a inserting data if to computer insert on same table at a single time..??
I want to connect to a MySQL database but the only connection available is a telephone line, a dial-up connection. I'm using vb.net 2005 Express for my project. All local connections are working the only problem is how can i get the server to connect, like IP to connect to establish a connection.
I am a ASP Classic Programmer, professionally for a little over a year, I have developed some rather nice sites, including the one in my signature (Still a work in progress).
I have been forced to use ASP.NET (VB) for a FileUpload control, as it offers a self controlled way of creating Thumbnails, without the use of 3rd party controls, which is great, as my hosting server does not allow for 3rd party installs on their servers. So.
The code below is what I have so far for connecting to the database and displaying a record is the "cookie" exist on the users computer.
Unfortunantly, this is not working, and to be honest with you, their is not a whole lot of resources available to show how to do this correctly.
So I am stuck with a lot of post and hoping that someone can actually assist me with this and tell me what I am doing wrong and maybe correct my code.
I am getting an error about the "Connection is closed"
If you want to re-write my code, I prefer something simple and basic, as the only thing that I am doing to checking rather the user is logged in, and if so, display a record from the database. I am NOT in the need for the DataGrid, so please do not suggest it, as I am only needing to check this one thing.
I would like to also add, that I have successfully contect to my database with the FileUpload control and save file names of the images uploaded, so I know that my connection string is done properly> But, for some reason the "SELECT" statement is causing a HUGE issue. (It was easier to insert, than to select, I am not use to that)
I am trying to build a user control that will do exactly what the SQL 2005 Connect to Server interface do, eventually create a connection string and store in a app.config file. It should allow user to select server type, server name, authentication, user name and password. It should also automatically load available servers and domain login by default.
I am tring to make the below application work with SQL Server 2005 Database Currently it works for test.mdb, which is in the same folder with the application. How shoud I modify the MapPath to work with SQL Server.
I am currently improving an existing handheld application, this app makes live calls to our network over the wireless connection, if the wireless connection is not established I am displaying a holding screen to the user, this screen rechecks connection every three seconds.I want to put a button on this screen that closes down the application if the user does not want to wait any longer. At the moment I am using the application.exit command, however it continues to finish the first original thread (i.e. trying to process the dataset) before actually closing the application, I am looking for a way to kill the application there and then!
I found similar forum thread [URL], but he don't have answers. How I can conncect | send | recive data using tcp connection with specific internet service (not web).
I am using the code below to test whether the user is connected using either a wireless or LAN connection. i.e. that the cable is plugged in, or the wireless is switch off. The code works fine for this. However, if you can spot any potential problems with this or you know of a better way I would be interested to learn more.
I'm trying to connect to a sql server 2005 database. I'm using the following connection string.
Dim cnn As OleDbConnection = _ New OleDbConnection("Provider=sqloledb;Integrated Security=SSPI;Initial Catalog=Iconics") Using this connection gives me the following error :
Error : Microsoft OLE DB PROVIDER FOR SQL SERVER : [DBNETLIB][Connection open(connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.
Does anybody know what is wrong with this connection string.
how can connect to sql server 2005 or 2008 by vb.net from anther computer ?and this computer donot have sql server.i made search on internet and result was use sql client tools but i made search
I can connect to both databases with SQL Server Enterprise Manager, so I know the servers are up and available. One of them is SQL1, the other is SQLTEST.In my program when I use the following connection string, it work connects just fine:
conn = New DBConnect("Data Source=SQL1;Initial Catalog=SignInspection;Integrated Security=SSPI")
However, if I change SQL1 to SQLTEST the connection times out I don't get any errors other than the timeout error.I can run the profiler on SQLTest and see that it is most definitely NOT even attempting to connect.
EDIT:Well, it's a moot point now because I got authentication working properly on our SQL1 server.
First off, the web server is running IIS and .NET. Users are logged in to the intranet using Active Directory, and the .NET page needs to retrieve their log-in credentials (username most notably). The database is SQL Server 2005, running on a different machine. But the .NET app needs to impersonate as another user to connect to the database.
To successfully do both of these things go to Windows > Run, enter inetmgr and hit run. Navigate to the site and right click > properties, then click on the tab titled Directory Security, click Edit.., make sure only Integrated Windows Authentication and Digest authentication are enabled. Enter your proper AD realm and click OK. Apply the settings/hit OK.In web.config you need the following lines
replacing, of course, myDomainMyUserName and 123mypasswordgoeshere with the username and password that has login rights on both your domain and your sql server. The connection string can probably be modified, but this is mine and it works:
I need a bit of advice. How do I connect to the proxy server using the code on below?

I making a connection through word 2003 VBA to SQL server 2005 using the following codeDim cn As ADODB.ConnectionSet cn = New Connectioncn.ConnectionString = "Provider=SQLNCLI;Server=LEXAE29150SQLEXPRESS;" & _"Database=MCarter.mdf;Integrated Security=SSPI;"cn.openetc.cn.close.All runs fine up to cn.open.I then get the message error 'Cannot open database "MC.dbf" request by the login. The Login failed'.Tryed websearching but no succes. Been on it a week and the boss is doing his nut. I'm lost and unsure what wrong. The SQL server is set for windows authenticity and SOL Server login. In the MC database under security users my user name (Login) is their and setup as owner and sysadmin.SQLServer is running on the same machine as the word.dot.
