i have an application, that just connect a website through a proxy server.So i need to find out the proxy server type.Like SOCKS5, HTTP and Is there any way to find it out?

I have took a little research and tried to find the methods that allows me to connect to proxy server using with httpwebrequest, but all of those I have found are only doing to check out the server for whether if the proxy are active or deactivate. Please can one of you post the source that I am looking for which it would allows me to connect to the proxy using with the httpwebrequest??

And when I do, I get the error "The remote server returned an error: {401} Unauthorised.", but I shouldn't need any credentials to access this. I'm just trying to POST a username and password to that page and have it query the database and then get the returned content, I'd prefer to use POST than GET so you can't see the user/pass in the URL (if possible).
EDIT: I used CPanel to password protect my website so it can't be accessed, after supplying my user & pass to access it, everything works.
I want to connect to an MySQL database on the website, I want to write and retrieve information from that database into a table on my program.

ive made a nice program that grabs proxys from a site and adds them to a list box in the format of iport. It grabs around 3k http proxys.
Ive also added another listbox and a button. What i need is to click the button and it will check the proxys from listbox1 and add working proxys to listbox2 but i have no idea how to do this.
I have searched and searched for days now and just cant find one, this project has been on hold for around 2 weeks as i just cant figure it out :[code...]
I searched, there are some examples for vb6, or vb.net previous version. however, none works for vb.net2008.some guys said light=proxy works, but I can not get it work in 2008.

View 2 RepliesI am very very new to VB.NET and would like to ask a simple question. I want to create a vb.net program and allow visitors to a website to download this program. However, I prefer not to have visitors download a zip folder. I would like to have a program that just gives a prompt to save in a selected folder, once the saved file is selected it prompts the person to download, and then when finished prompts the person to run the program. The reason is twofold:
1. I don't like the extra step involved with unzipping the file. and 2. I don't like the visitors having to look for the "main" file program within the new downloaded folder. So is there any way to have just one file for others to download without having it in a zip folder?

it's just for a program registration. i would store all of the registration codes in the access database, then export it to XML, then upload it to my web host. I would then somehow connect it to my Visual Basics login form (Which I have already made). If this can't be done, having them register through the form and having all the allowed codes on the internet (So i can easily edit them)!

I'm fairly decent with Vb its self but ASP is completely new to so Im ultra newb. My understanding about using ASP is since its Microsoft based you can't use any tools like WAMP or PHP Admin or anythign I currently have to get ASP programs to run but I could be wrong. I barely know how to setup a webpage so I'm 100% newb on my venture into webpage building but I want to learn more about it.
