Jul 16, 2011it's just for a program registration. i would store all of the registration codes in the access database, then export it to XML, then upload it to my web host. I would then somehow connect it to my Visual Basics login form (Which I have already made). If this can't be done, having them register through the form and having all the allowed codes on the internet (So i can easily edit them)!

Login Form - How To Connect To MS Access File
Aug 17, 2009I am trying to create a login form for a app I made and having some trouble. I have looked every where for a solid tutorial on how to connect to a msaccess file and have always come up short. Either its a old tutorial and I cant get it to properly work with vs2008 or it completely looses me. Can anyone recomend a tutorial for creating something like this? I Wanna be able to upload the access file to my server and have the program check Username/Password when someone try's to login.

I have tried to add a reference to System.Data.OleDb but it doesn't appear in the add reference box. System.Data.OleDb is checked in the Imported namespaces window. I have tried changing the .NET Framework but, no help.

Jun 15, 2010I've got a vb (desktop) app (not a web app) that needs to connect to my website, I've been told that embedding my MySQL database credentials is a big mistake for several reasons.So, I've built a web script in PHP that runs on my server called web-service.php, it's located at www.example.com/web-service.php.Now, I'm trying to connect with this code:

And when I do, I get the error "The remote server returned an error: {401} Unauthorised.", but I shouldn't need any credentials to access this. I'm just trying to POST a username and password to that page and have it query the database and then get the returned content, I'd prefer to use POST than GET so you can't see the user/pass in the URL (if possible).
EDIT: I used CPanel to password protect my website so it can't be accessed, after supplying my user & pass to access it, everything works.

This is also true with the Web Debeloper 2008 and it seems it will only work on sites Created with FrontPage. So my question is what do I need to upgrade to in order to work on my site without reveiling my password (encrypted access) or working in FrontPage.

Apr 17, 2012I'm familiar with SQL to an extent from PHP, but I've never worked with databases in VB.net before.I'm making a scheduling system to try and learn how to work with databases, and I have an Access database, that is already populated with data, has all the foreign keys and associative tables, that I need to connect to a DataGridView in my Windows Form.This is basically what I need to accomplish:-Have each table of the database display in it's own DataGridView.-Have changes made in the DataGridView/Windows Form in general... actually update the Access database(I would for example, schedule a new course(by clicking new course, and then selecting the appropriate values for each field), and it would check the make sure the student isn't in a class at that time, that the classroom isn't taken already, and the the instructor isn't busy at that time on that day)
