Any way that I can set the value of a particular field (let's say a name) on a particular record without having to have the data presented on the forum? Syntax would be along the lines of "Go record "12" and set "Callum Kerr" on field #name"?
View 2 RepliesI have created a project that has an add a new record, edit record and a search form, that has multiple text, combo boxes and is working great.Last nite I have added a checkbox under my add new record form and i am saving the checkbox value to my database, so far so good. I would like to be able to search any record that is mark with a checkbox to show up in my search screen when I do a search: [code] The problem that i am having is that now that I have added the code to my project to search for the checkbox field in the search screen and if I leave everything blank and click on the the search button I get no record found. I expected to see all that data, since I have nothing selected. Now if I click my checkbox, as soon as I click on my search button I see that two records that I have added for my test.

I'm familiar with SQL to an extent from PHP, but I've never worked with databases in VB.net before.I'm making a scheduling system to try and learn how to work with databases, and I have an Access database, that is already populated with data, has all the foreign keys and associative tables, that I need to connect to a DataGridView in my Windows Form.This is basically what I need to accomplish:-Have each table of the database display in it's own DataGridView.-Have changes made in the DataGridView/Windows Form in general... actually update the Access database(I would for example, schedule a new course(by clicking new course, and then selecting the appropriate values for each field), and it would check the make sure the student isn't in a class at that time, that the classroom isn't taken already, and the the instructor isn't busy at that time on that day)

My question is with the CurrentInventory and Surplus form/tables. I had my students connect to a MS Access DB (2002) and used the datagrid to display the data and that works just fine. Theproperties are set to allow adding of records, however when we add a record it seems to accept the record, but if you check the table its not there./ No error or any indication there is a problem, the record is simply not there. You can add 10 to the datagrid and they will appear in the data grid but not in the table an of course if you closethe app & reopen it the records are gone. This used to work just fine, by the way the same thing happens when you use the Binding Navigator so I don't think its VB, I'm guseeing its Access?
