So sine my program sends emails Ive been thinking of making it where the agent replies with #lunch sh250080 and then when my program receives it it adds them to the lunch list.

C# - In A .NET Console App, Have A Line Of Text Stay Visible In The Console All The Time?
Jun 1, 2011I was thinking of adding a simple bandwidth monitor to a console application and I was wondering if it would be possible to keep a line in the console window visible at all times. I could set something up manually to pass new console output into a method that would get the contents of the console, clear the console, add the bandwidth data on the first row, then rewrite each line of previous information back to the console, etc.. but that seems like a really hacky way to go about it, and I'd be limited to the amount of rows visible at once in the console window (no scrolling).

Data - Add An Edit Button That Will Edit Existing Entries?
Apr 28, 2010I have a form that adds new contacts. New contacts are added by pressing an appropriate button and they appear as an entry in the list on the form. I try now to add an edit button that will edit existing entries.User will select a given entry on the list and press edit button and will be presented with an appropriate form (AddContFrm).Right now it simply adds another entry with the same title. Logic is handled in a class called Contact.vb Here is my code.

This is no problem I've got that all working perfectly, the only problem I have is that the console is showing while the application is running, I was wondering whether anyone knows any way in which I would be able to hide the console before it gets shown to the user.

Feb 23, 2011I am trying to send/print/write all possible ASCII codes (0-255) to another console-window application. From my application I would enter the name of the "receiving" application and the comma seperated hex values that should be sent/print/written to it. I have used AppActivate to select the "receiving" application and then have used sendInput and send.sendkeys to attempt to send the desired ASCII value. However, these appear to have limitations on values greater than 127. I need to be able to send all 255 values.

I have all of the code written but when I run the program it pops up the console window and then immediatley exits so I am unable to read what is in the window to see if my program is operating correctly. This is the first time I've ever used a console window so I don't know where in the code I would need to put "whatever it is" I might need to put to keep the window open until closed by the user.

What I'm really doing is trying to do a matrix effect on my form background, by drawing symbols and moving them, alternating their colors (see this video for what I mean).
Is there a way to do this effectively with a timer and a draw event, with the timer calling the draw event and changing the intervals?

When the report is called the server converts it into PDF but when report contains large data it takes a lot of time to load. I want to do in asp.net that when I call the report url it opens the PDF file and copies it into the root of my web folder. Oct 3, 2010Basically, i am trying to determin if an application made for 1.x will run on a computer with just one copy of the .NET framework installed which is a higher version than what i am targetting, ie: it only has one copy of .NET 2.0, or 3.0, or 3.5 or 4.0 - has one copy of either of these and thats it, the hypothetical computer would not have 1.0 or 1.1 installed.

Jul 8, 2010I'm developing a media player app and upon looking at it for a week now, it seems really bland. I would really like to add some animations for it (besides just moving forms with x,y locations) but have no idea where to start.
Are more complex apps/designs/animations better suited for a language like c#/c++? I've never done animations before (except simple form moving) and I think now would be a great time to get some opinions!

Jan 17, 2012I have a .NET application that was written in C# and VB.NET using WinForms. We want to slowly migrate this to something new, in many iterations. The new code will be entirely C# and WPF. We would like to utilize Prism.
As far as I know, we can't integrate the old WinForm app in Prism.
I am considering making my old app show the new app in certain instances. For example, when you press a tab in the old app, the new app opens on top of the old app, with the same tabs. Over time, only the new app would be necessary.

Detecting External Apps?
Jan 28, 2009I am writing a usability testing application, it starts the screen recording, gives the user tasks, and then when finished brings up a survey and stops the screen recording. My problem lies in the last part of this process, because the screen recording app brings up a msgbox when recording is over saying where the file is put and then when that is closed it brings up the screen recording application. I am trying to block the user from seeing this so am currently using the following method.

Basically when the msgbox from the screen recorder comes up it means a file has been created...so the folder is watched and when the file is created the msgbox is checked for, when it exists a short timer is enabled and then knowing the window exists it is hidden using showwindow findwindow approach. Although this approach does work, Camtasia needs to be closed and re-opened after in order to record again and for some reason it does not always work.
