Controls Change Place And Form Size Changes
Aug 13, 2011
I have designed a form in VB.NET. At design time I have placed two buttons on it. When I run it, the form size looks smaller and the buttons I have placed at the bottom are not visible. Also the alignment of the text and picture box is also different from what I set at design time. Computer at which I am running the form is using a different resolution.

Dim img As New Windows.Forms.PictureBox
img.Location = New System.Drawing.Point(newx, newy)
img.BackgroundImageLayout = ImageLayout.Zoom
img.Size = New System.Drawing.Size(100, 100)
img.Name = "img" & t
I need a mousedown function to cover all the images that are produced by the above code.The following code only affects the areas that aren't covered by the images. I just need something that covers the whole form
Private Sub main_MouseDown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) Handles MyClass.MouseDown
MsgBox(Me.GetChildAtPoint(e.Location))
End Sub

I am wanting to populate a form with check boxes and labels on starting of the app. My idea is to store to locations on the form in a database. I am creating an app that would have check boxes and labels that the user could check off to store points for completed tasks. The tasks on the form could change so I want the form to change as the tasks are changes with out re-coding the app.I am using VB 2003. I have searched but couldn't find anything.

I want my form to start in a maximised state, this is simple enough, however the problem I am having is that my controls do not re-size with the form between minimising and maximising and it looks un-proffesional.

I placed a button on my form that measured 59mm in width (approx 2.25 inches for any Americans).When you run the project as you'd expect it still measures 59mm.However when I set the form as a child to my MDIParent and run the project the button now measures 67mm (well over 2.5 inches) an increase of 13.5%.Is this a bug or do I need to just change some setting somewhere?

I have been searching for a solution to this but I can't find one. I have played with the anchor and dock properties but they are not doing what I want, so here goes... I would like to place and size all of my controls on my form and then when the form is re-sized during run time (different resolutions, full screen/windowed, etc), have everything just scale up or down accordingly. Anchoring the controls to all four sides of my form re-sizes the control properly but it doesn't move it's location in sync with the other control's size next to it, they begin to overlap each other. Am I going to have to code my own scaling code for each control in my program?

I have been trying to make my own borders for my form, which worked out but wast like I expected, (I used an image and Formborderstyle = none). I have looked at other applications(like Internet Explorer and Google Chrome) when they are not maximized, the top part of the form which you usually cant edit(where there you put your application's title and the control box is). I mean those top parts are larger than those of normal applications, how can that be done? To be clear: with top part i mean: the part that is part of your system, where an icon, a label with the application's title, and the control box is. To be more clear, see the screenshot provided.

I am creating an application for a company and this CD will be distributed to hundreds of people. Many users will have different computer screen size and different screen settings such as their resolution set to 1024 x 728 and their monitor size 17" inches.
I noticed when I loaded the application on a different computer with different settings the application was to big for the screen and did not work. I notice that lot of other programs from microsoft resize their controls and text but never knew how they did it. How can I resize the form and control according to the user's setting.

I thought this would be easy but for some reason it's giving me a rough time. I have a windows form with three equal size panels on it. Each panel takes up about 1/3 of the window width, less some inter-panel spacing.
The effect I want is if the user stretches or shrinks the form the panels maintain their relative 1/3 width and spacing, similar to how divs on an html page would size as the browser window is sized.
So I anchored the left panel to left, top and bottom, the center panel to top and bottom, and the right panel to top, bottom and right. This works fine in keeping the left and right panel anchored to their respective sides, and all panels now stretch with a form height change.
So in form resize I adjust the width of each panel to form.width/3. As expected this is close but does not account for the inter-panel margins I want to preserve and the form border width.
I played around with various constants and noting I do gives me the desired effect.I'm sure there is a pretty straight forward solution to this but I can't seem to find it.

VBExpress 2010 .Net 4.0 I'm trying to have a form that you click on a button and it goes to a new page of the same size in the same location. An example of this type of thing would be the different pages of an install wizard. In this particular project, I have an "instructions" page that you click on that takes you to a new form. On this page is a "back" button that takes you back to the main screen. I'm just not sure how this type of thing is normally done. What I have done works, but you can see the page 'flip' a little, and the form button on the taskbar disappears and reappears as the new one loads.
[Code]...
and I have an equivalent subroutine on the other form to get back. At first I had the Three middle line of code interchanged, which looked much smoother, but for some reason it didn't work on the first click, upon which the form would suddenly move to the wrong location, after which it would work fine, no matter where I moved the form.
I have a feeling that this is probably done in a completely different way, but can't think of a better way of doing it. One way would be to just use one form and change the controls instead, but it would get quite cluttered.

I am using VB2008 Express. After making changes to the position of controls on the form, the controls position reverts to the original position when the program is rebuilt and run. At first, there is no problem, but after 30 minutes working with the program, the problem begins. I am careful to keep all the files together. I am using XP Professional and .net 3.5

I have a .txt file constructed like this:
Man C vs Liverpool:Aston V vs Tottenham:
3,00:4,00:6,00:
False:True:False:
Im thinking an Array for each line. Each input in the Array separated by ":". Then I would like to fill the controls in my form.
Found a post from .paul. so it should probably be something like this:
Public Class Form1
Dim lines() As String = IO.File.ReadAllLines("c: estfolder1 est.txt")
Dim textboxes() As TextBox = {TextBox1, TextBox2}
Dim checkboxes() As CheckBox = {CheckBox1, CheckBox2}

I have a label which appears full screen on a projector (VGA 2). In this label I will be sending strings. Some one liner's, some wrapped paragraphs. Some multi-line with carrage returns. My goal is to have the font dynamically change size to be as large as possible without overflowing the fixed label size.

I wrote a class, StyledForm that inherits from Form.
StyledForm draws a styled titlebar, ect. However, in the designer you can place a control over the titlebar (because it isn't actually the form).
In a normal form if you place a control in the same spot, the titlebar (or form edges) would draw over the control, and the control wouldn't receive input there.
