Get Short Date Format In Textbox?
Jan 9, 2010I have a date field in my Access database that I want to display in a textbox with a colored back color. This is VB.NET 2008. A datetimepicker has a format property (short) but the datetimepicker does not allow the color I want. No problem, it's just for display so I'll use a textbox. But the textbox shows the date and time. How can I get rid of the time in the textbox and just have the date? The field in the Access table is Date/Time with a format of Short. I think Access always stores the time.

Jun 24, 2011I am attempting to import data in a batch from an Excel Worksheet to a Sql Server database. Everything works except for the one date field in the spreadsheet. The date returned is off by four years from the value in the spreadsheet. Example: The Excel sheet has a date 10/24/2010 14:18, but when I look at the column in my query, the date is 10/23/2006 2:18. This pattern, 4 years and 1 day earlier, is repeated for every row in the worksheet.
The Excel column comes to me as a custom type, formatted m/d/yyyy h:mm. I receive this from an outside vendor and having them change the column is not going to be my simplest solution.
For what it's worth, the relevent part of the query is:

Serial Program Hangs After Short Time
Sep 9, 2011I'm writing a simple program to retrieve data via the Serial Port. I have a piece of hardware that returns its 14 byte status every time vbCr is written to it. The program works fine except after a few hundred requests the program begins to hang, off and on. Some times for a second some times for longer. I need to update every 25 milliseconds so the hanging sets in quickly. This faster the interval the quicker the problem sets in but no mater how long the interval the problem eventually starts.[code]...

For starters I get the when I start the programs timer: "A call to PInvoke function". Sep 6, 2009I have an ASP.NET application with a SQL Server back end. I am storing all my dates in UTC format and doing the appropriate conversions to the local time zone of the browser viewing it. One of the pages asks for a start date and end date (no times).
I am taking the start date and setting the time to 00:00:00 hours (midnight) and I'm taking the End time and adding a time of 23:59:59, so that the date range covers the whole day. Now what I'm trying to do is do a SQL query to do a search for records in this date range. The problem is, the data in SQL is in UTC time and the user is typing their dates and times in their local date and times. My quickest solution was to convert the date and time to UTC, then search the records. However, by doing this, I am to believe ASP.NET converts the given time and date to UTC based on the server time zone. How can I convert a date and time to UTC time based on the time zone of the user?

Dec 15, 2009All of my regional settings in control panel are set to UK but when I retrieve a date from an SQL database (run from my PC) in my program, it appears in the MM-DD-YYYY format rather than the DD-MM-YYYY format that I expect.
After a bit of troubleshooting I found that this is because of the fact that SQL server always stores its dates in that format - so then when my program reads the data from the database it interprets it as being the US format.How can I convert this to UK format bearing in mind I am working with Date objects not strings?

Time Display - Adding Hours To Convert UTC Time
Dec 20, 2010I am trying to create what I am sure is a simple program to add hours to convert UTC time. I want to type in a UTC time and have it convert for every state in Australia. [Code] Now that works fine however when the conversion goes past "midnight" it then shows the date and time. I have tried about 50 different things but cannot get it to remove the date when the converted time passes midnight. [Code] The string was not recognized as a valid DateTime. There is an unknown word starting at index 18.
