I have a textbox pulling an 'entryDate' field from my table using databinding. The field in the database is set to a 'Short Date', however when I bind that field to a text box and run the app it appends "12:00 AM" to the short date from the Db.
How do I get my databound textbox to simply display the short date which exists in the table?

I need to count a large amount numbers in short time.As a result the CPU jumps to 40-60% on 4-core PC.Which is extremely high.I have any idea that will lock up the thread for some time, but not actually slow or reduce the amount of files that are allowed to be counted per a giving time period.

Application.DoEvents()
Threading.Thread.Sleep(1000)

I am showing some data in a DataGridView using an access table. Here is my
Dim ConnString As String = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=....db.mdb"
Dim SQLString As String = "SELECT * FROM Table1"
Dim OleDBConn1 As System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection = New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection(ConnString)
Dim DataSet1 As New DataSet()
[Code] ....
The problem is that there is one column in my access database that is formatted as date/time however the only values in the access is time. When I display this table in the DataGridView, it adds this random date from years ago in front of that time. How do I reformat this DataGridView column to only display the time and not the date?

I have a date field in my Access database that I want to display in a textbox with a colored back color. This is VB.NET 2008. A datetimepicker has a format property (short) but the datetimepicker does not allow the color I want. No problem, it's just for display so I'll use a textbox. But the textbox shows the date and time. How can I get rid of the time in the textbox and just have the date? The field in the Access table is Date/Time with a format of Short. I think Access always stores the time.

I'm writing a simple program to retrieve data via the Serial Port. I have a piece of hardware that returns its 14 byte status every time vbCr is written to it. The program works fine except after a few hundred requests the program begins to hang, off and on. Some times for a second some times for longer. I need to update every 25 milliseconds so the hanging sets in quickly. This faster the interval the quicker the problem sets in but no mater how long the interval the problem eventually starts.[code]...

I'm trying to make a macro for a game, so I use long spells in a shorter amount of time. I'm having trouble with a lot of things. For starters I get the when I start the programs timer: "A call to PInvoke function". (I'm calling it a hack, but it's not a hack because it doesn't hook into memory addresses, only sends keys when the correct combo are pressed)

I'm trying to format my time from hh:mm to hhmm. I know this has to be simple, but I can't seem to figure it out. I need it so that when a user enters 1:30 it puts 0130 into the database. I am using a regular text box as well....not a masked text box.

We are designing the GUI of a microwave where a user can hit the numeric buttons 0-9 and create the time they want their item to cook. I have everything complete and ready to be submitted, but the only thing left is getting the label that displays the entered time to look like it is in a clock format.
Right now you enter the digits and it puts them like this: 95959
I am trying to get it to always enter it like this: 9:59:59

I have been trying to check if a user has input a specific time format into a textbox.For example
1- User enters time in hhmm format
2- Checks the input
3- If wrong, MessageBox.Show("Need hh:mm time format")
I have only used IF statement with IsNumeric to check for number input but was unsuccessful with various attempts I can think of for checking a time format as I need Option Strict On and have the following error: Option Strict On disallows implicit conversions from 'String' to 'Date'.Is there a way to like check if the hh:mm has the ":" separator too?

I'm using vb.net 2008 and I want to be able to format the way numeric values are displayed in the datagridview control.
My datagridview control is being populated from data stored in sql server 2008, what I am after is for a value to always show 2 decimal places, even if the number is a whole number. e.g. '1500' to display as '1500.00'.
I have already tried using the following commands in my sql statements:
CONVERT(MONEY, Value) AS Value
CONVERT(DECIMAL, Value) AS Value
But this doesn't seem to display correctly in the datagridview. for 1500 I get 1500.0000 and 1500

There is a varchar column in the database table in this format of military time 1230 or 1750 or 1320 and that field get populated into a gridview in asp. I need to convert that string to standard time. I have tried the DateFormatString and nothing seems to work.
the asp is
<asp:BoundColumn DataField="ScanTime" SortExpression="ScanTime" ReadOnly="True"
HeaderText="Scan Time" DataFormatString="{0:hh}:{0:mm} {tt}">
<ItemStyle Width="80px"></ItemStyle>
</asp:BoundColumn>
that DateFormatString causes Input string was not in a correct format. error.
I have tried combinations of hh:mm and things like that but since its a varchar I think its failing
