[2008] Checking Time Format From Textbox Input?

I have been trying to check if a user has input a specific time format into a textbox.For example
1- User enters time in hhmm format
2- Checks the input
3- If wrong, MessageBox.Show("Need hh:mm time format")
I have only used IF statement with IsNumeric to check for number input but was unsuccessful with various attempts I can think of for checking a time format as I need Option Strict On and have the following error: Option Strict On disallows implicit conversions from 'String' to 'Date'.Is there a way to like check if the hh:mm has the ":" separator too?

I would like to capture a start and end time in format hh:mm.Instantly I thought a datetimepicker would be the most suitable component (see code below)[code]Now I'm unable to find a datetimepicker solution to allow settings of intervals like in the numericupdown control and unable to even set a mindate/maxdate in time format. Does anyone have a solution for these requests? I then thought about using a numericupdown control to capture hh:mm time but I could not find a way of doing this in ONE control rather than two whichwould involve code to ensure only valid hours/min values could be selected i.e. 0 - 23 and 00-59 and other date to string conversion/validation.For such a commonly recorded element I'm surprised to find little in the way of solutions other than third party controls.Does anyone have ideas for a way forward for a control to capture time as hh:mm with interval controls for hours and minutes?

I'm doing some homework for my VB class where I have to write a program that creates an invoice for a customer. I'm having an issue with converting the name input from the format of (Last, First) within the same textbox to (First Last) in a listbox via a function. I have done everything but dealing with the strings and I'm at a loss. I'm also having to create an invoice number with the first two letters of the last name and also the last four numbers of the zip code in an address line such as City, State, Zip. Manipulating these strings is killing me.Below is the code that I have written, manipulation of the strings must be in one function for each the invoice and the and the name issue....

Can I set this function so that if the local settings.txt exists, it will NOT be overwritten unless the mapped file is newer?

Currently modifying a program that is being used by several staff. Each time they restart it, it starts the latest build.
I have a settings.txt file that is needed for the latest build(not on all pc's yet, original version has the settings written in the code) and updated as needed.
If local PC doesn't have settings.txt, it is copied, if it does have settings.txt it gets overwritten by the mapped copy on each run.
Wanting to let users keep their 'personalized' local settings.txt, unless I add a new feature to the program that requires a change to the mapped settings.txt file.

I'm trying to create a textbox that'll only accept a value in the 24 hour format (i.e. "18:00" or "1800"). I've been reading up on the FormatDateTime Function but I don't know whether thats appropiate...
Also, how do I set a textbox to be fixed with two decimal places? On VB6 I could do this in properties, but I can't find an option ni Visual Basic Express 2008.

I am stuck and need some help as I am trying to add values of 2 textboxes on my form which are in "HH:MM" format and display them in textbox3.
Textbox1.Text = 07:45
Textbox2.text = 07:30
Textbox3.text = val(textbox1.text) + val(textbox2.text)
The values in textbox3.text should be "15:15"

I want to convert a military time was is in a textbox and convert it into a label with a standard 12hr time with a.m. and p.m.

i have several masked textbox connected to mysql database through a website i made, and what i'm trying to do is have these masked textbox automatically change the format what the user inputs to "hh:mm tt" so if the user inputs 6 or 600 or 6p it will automatically change it to the format to 6:00 PM.I know that i will have to use the Validated event and I've tried the Format(maskedtextbox1,"hh:mm tt") but can't seem to work. I would rather not use datetimepicker because i dont want the user have the option of using the dropdown.

In Visual studio 2005 using VB, I've just started using a masked textbox to input time in the 24hr format.In the Input dialog box , I've set the mask to : Time(European/Military) and checked the : Use validating Type box.[code]Problem: The user can enter numbers which do not match the time format.Example:25:75 or 23:66 , etcI would just like to restrict user input to the numbers required for the 24hr format only.Also, if anyone can provide me with a link to some working examples of masked textboxes.

Is it possible that a user input to a textbox like '12500', but vb shows it
'12,500' at the time of input.
But at the saving time vb should to read the '12,500' as '12500'.

When I attempt to read my Xml file when using a schema file I get the following error message:
Input string was not in a correct format.
If I delete the schema it read its fine so I am assuming something in schema file isn't matching the incoming data? How can I determine which line is creating the error?

I am building a program for my CINS-113 class where it allows the user to enter a number 1-15 in a masked text box and then hit OK and it will display that number in a ListBox as such:
Say they enter 1...
1 X 1 = 1
1 X 2 = 2
1 X 3 = 3
...
1 X 12 = 12
I have gotten everything to work great, but when you enter anything but numbers 1-15 it properly provides a message popup telling you that your entry is basically not the right value, but then I get a build error that says "Input string was not in correct format" and it highlights my line: "intInput1 = Convert.ToInt32(strInput1)"

best way to check if a textbox has only 4 numbers and isNumeric, for example i need to enter postcodes.I currently have:
If CDbl(txtPostcode.Text) <> 4 Or Not IsNumeric(txtPostcode) Then
MessageBox.Show("Postcode must be 4 Digits", "Error")
But the message box comes up regardless of whether there is 4 numbers, letters, or anything in the textbox. Its also used in the leave function of the textbox.

My stored procedure covert two integer column Hours and Minutes to varchar data type and after concatenation the result looks like HH:MM (1:05).In DGV form I have problem to display same values. We are designing the GUI of a microwave where a user can hit the numeric buttons 0-9 and create the time they want their item to cook. I have everything complete and ready to be submitted, but the only thing left is getting the label that displays the entered time to look like it is in a clock format.
Right now you enter the digits and it puts them like this: 95959
I am trying to get it to always enter it like this: 9:59:59
