Convert An Object System.Data.Linq.DataQuery To System.Linq.IQueryable?
Oct 21, 2009
How can I convert an object of type System.Data.Linq.DataQuery to System.Linq.IQueryable?I'm working with Visual Basic/Silverlight, and the source code of my query is as follows:
Public Function Get_Cli_Pag() As IQueryable(Of V_Cliente_Pagare)
Dim Qry = From P In Me.Context.Pagares Join C In Me.Context.Codigos On C.Codigo
I am getting following error whenever I want to use IIf function inside entity framework query.
LINQ to Entities does not recognize the method 'System.Object IIf(Boolean, System.Object, System.Object)' method, and this method cannot be translated into a store expression.
I´m gettin the error Calling the fuction GetListItems but is kind weird because it works in Visual Studio 2008 Express but no in Visual Basic 2010 Express:
Dim ndQuery As XmlNode = xmlDoc.CreateNode(XmlNodeType.Element, "Query", "") Dim ndViewFields As XmlNode = xmlDoc.CreateNode(XmlNodeType.Element, "ViewFields", "") Dim ndQueryOptions As XmlNode = xmlDoc.CreateNode(XmlNodeType.Element,
I am new to EF Linq and I have been struggling with this query for a few days. From reading this forum, I have managed to get this far:
Dim noPic = (From f In myEntities.FriendLists Where (f.UserID = Profile.ID) Select f.FriendID).Except(From g In myEntities.GuestLists Where g.EventID = _id Select g.FriendID)
[Code]...
I am trying to get everybody from the FriendList who is not already on the GuestList to display in a Repeater control. After reading the forum I was able to append .First() to noPic at the myNoPic declaration and finally get a result but that only gave me the first element. Does anybody have any advice on how to accomplish this?
I am getting a really bizarre error and it makes no sense at all.Basically I have a user entity which has a Password property. This property is of Type Binary, the server data type being Binary(512).I am reading this value in and converting it to a byte array. However whenever I run my code I am getting a completely unrelated error of Unable to cast object of type 'System.Guid' to type 'System.String'.This strikes me as very odd since I am not using a property or variable of type string or GUID anywhere in this procedure where it falls over.
The code is below:
Public Shared Function ValidateUser(ByVal username As String, ByVal password As String) As UserValidationMessage Using db As New EntityMapDataContext Dim u = From user In db.Users Where user.Username = username
I know how to select items from an array with LINQ, but what I can't figure out how to do is access a database using an IQueryable. I connected the database to my project, added two classes from the database to the "LINQ to SQL" .dbml file and saved it. In my programming assignment, I am not supposed to create a data source (table thing) to display the data, but update my own interface manually. In order to do it, I was told to instantiate this:
Private dogs As System.Linq.IQueryable(Of Dog)
(Dog is a class that I added to my .dbml file from the database file)Also, I am told it involves using a method
When I execute the code below I receive the error message: LINQ to Entities does not recognize the method 'System.Object CompareObjectEqual(System.Object, System.Object, Boolean)' method, and this method cannot be translated into a store expression. It seems to be occurring on the line For Each row2 in PCstudent.
I would use the System.Linq.Dynamic. I added the specified Dynamic.vb file, that starts like this:
[Code]...
to my (VB.NET)solution. Now Visual Studio does not recognize anymore in the project files the System.XXX references, proposing me to change them to Global.System.XXX
I cannot get the following to work for me: its the section that sets the default for system.data.linq.binary. The database I work with doesn't allow nulls in any field. So I generally run my buffer through this routine to populate defaults and then set the real values independently, (this works when I miss a field). I can set the Linq table field = fakeBinary and it works like a charm. Thus, I don't understand why using reflection can't pull of the same thing. Ex: Me.CM20500WindowBuffer.Reconcile_Messages = New Byte() {0} works.
Try Dim fakeBinary As System.Byte() = {0} For Each fld In nObj.GetType().GetProperties Select Case fld.PropertyType Case GetType(Byte) [Code] .....
We are doing a query against an in-memory collection of LINQ data objects. The wrinkle is that we are ordering by a column in a related table whose records have not necessarily been loaded yet (deferred loading:)
Dim oPkgProducts = _ From b In oBillPkg.BillProducts _ Where b.Successful.GetValueOrDefault(Common.X_INDETERMINATE) = _
I have an interface 'ICRUDable' and a class called ClientAddress which implements the ICRUDable interface.
My understanding of OOP would lead me to believe that if I declare a System.Data.Linq.Table(Of ICRUDable) then I should be able to put ClientAddress's in there.
The code I have tried includes;
Dim dc As New CRMDataContext Dim items = dc.ClientAddresses and
I am using Visual Studio 2005 and am writing a SSIS package. In the package I have a VB.Script that looks at a directory on a server and creates a list of the files. I then have a store Proc that looks at a table and gets a list of files that matches the files in the first array. The result is a fullresultset. The next step I need to create a 3rd array that only contains the rows from the first that are not in the second. However, I am getting the following error. Error: The script threw an exception: Unable to cast object of type 'System.Object' to type 'System.Collections.ArrayList'.
I was trying to finish up a VB.NET class library project when I tried to remove all unused references. I know for a fact that I'm not explicitly using any thing from the System.Xml and System.Xml.Linq assemblies yet the "Unused References..." button never flags them for removal. In fact I even tried "Unused References..." on a blank project and it still never flagged them.
i have a table in sql server with some fields set as Byte() (System.Byte[]) when i import them in my application to be used with linq they are converted in Binary (System.Data.Linq.Binary)why is that?is there a way to prevent this wrong translaton???if i update the database how can i update the classes that has been craeted in visual studio2008?
I have created a Dictionary class (MyDictionary for the example). I am currently trying to pass MyDictionary into a function, filter it into a new instance of MyDictionary and pass this new instance into another method. When I am attempting to create the second instance from the filtered first instance of MyDictionary via Lambda Expressions and the ToDictionary Method, I am getting the following error:
Unable to cast object of type 'System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary`2[System.Int32,System.String]' to type 'MyDictionary'. I have simplified the example and recreated it in LINQPad and am getting the same error.
I am using VS 2008 but am having problems getting the namespace system.xml.linq to be recognized. I am attempting to add the reference but I don't seem to be be allow to select it.System.XML.Linq is grayed out in the AddReference menu. What must I do to add this reference to my project?
My colleague gave me a DLL that manage all database business. I wanted to invoke a function that uses Stored Procedure and return the search result. In the function receive a parameter type in ystem.Data.IDataParameter[]. Below is my codes.
Dim tenItem = From t In _InvalidFeeList _ From i In ItemCount _ Where t.FeeCode <> i.FeeCode _
[Code]....
I am getting "Can not convert to System.generic.list" error. I look all over for this error and it seem like my code should work for example here
edit: I think i should explain what I'm trying to do here. I want to compare two object list and select the object from the InvalidFeeList if the FeeCode is not equal to the object in ItemCount FeeCode and take the first 10 objects from the InvalidFeeList.
I am trying to get the DataView from a linq query expression which is querying a typed dataset. The result lands in a type of System.linq.IOrderedEnumerable. But i'm not able to convert this type to a Dataview although a few examples on the internet say that AsDataView function shoudl work but could you please throw some light on why the method AsDataView is not exposed on the query.
I have a situation where I have a hierarchy. I'm trying to use LINQ to get all of the items throughout the hierarchy as opposed to For Each loops. I spent some time looking for examples, but most where C# using lambdas, and I'm not quite sure I understand it. I'd like to try to get all of the Items for a specific system, the levels of items could be n-levels deep.
I added this lines in the form load of DataGridPrinter by Merrion in the codebank..[code]Unable to cast object of type 'System.Data.DataViewManager' to type 'System.Data.DataTable'.
I had a code segment on an asp.net page in the code-behind file. I decided to move it into a public subroutine in a module (general_functions.vb). Once I did this, however, the code no longer works - it throws an error. On the original code-behind I replaced the original code with a call like so:
I have the following piece of code that contains my message body in an email I'm trying to send via vb.net (through outlook) The code works, but .net is not recognizing the HTML formatting and is giving the error: "XML literals and XML axis properties are not available Please Add references to the System.Xml.dll, System.Xml.Linq.dll, and System.Core.dll assemblies". I try and do this by going to Project --> add referance, but they are not highlighted and I can't select them. Is there any way around this?
