Converting A URI To Show As A String In A Status Bar
Mar 22, 2012
I'm fooling around in my VB class trying to make a small stand-alone web browser. Most of the questions I find involve taking a user-input string and converting it to a URI. My problem is that I want to take the current URI data in my Web Browser object and convert it to a string that I can display in the text box. When I click the link, my navigation bar will display the URL of the page I move to, and it will update as I go to different pages. Now I'm attempting to do this by setting the textbox to the Browser's URL value everytime the browser navigates. But the textbox cannot accept URI objects, only strings.Does anyone know how to convert them or a more efficient manner of doing this update?

In my project i have one parent window form with one menu bar and one status bar. that is what i want is:when i show the child form to see in the status ber an icon relative to the child window. How i can do that? And if that can't be how i can see an icon in a task bar?
I've created a form with several controls to specify the inputs to my program. They include TextBox, OpenFileDialog, Button and even a user control for numeric input. When the user clicks the 'GO' button, the program begins it work. Opening several files and processing a bunch of numerical data. This could take many minutes/hours with large datasets.
What I've been trying to do is have another window/form open up and send status information to it for the user to view. The info to be displayed is varied and constantly updated as the program crunches the numbers. Many many programs do just this type of activity.
I attempted to create a second form with a huge TextBox thinking I'd just write stuff to it. I called the .show method within the .click of the 'GO' button and of course the form is displayed but control of the program's execution doesn't return until the form is closed. How to I maintain execution and have a second window/form to display status?
I just read little bit about macro and was trying to create the one in .net I was able to do very small operations since I dont know much about vb.net and regular expressions.I want to create a properties and variable declaration for the below code. What will be the regular expression to parse this string. So that I can get all the components to create a property from this.
,<Status, tinyint,>
I am trying to create macro that can parse above string into
private byte _Status; prublic byte Status { get; set; }

I guess that I'm not the first who ask this, but what is the easiest way to use threads in VB.NET? I mean, I need to download some string from a remote server and then to show that string in the GUI, so I have to use some callback function to call it in the main thread. I found different approaches for this, but all seems very difficult compared to Python where (with GTK) I used something like: gobject.idle_add(callback_function, parameters) and "callback_function" was executed in the main thread. How I do that in VB.NET?
i am converting a string to double?i would like to know in advanced whether it would case an error to convert a string to a double. for example if i try to convert "hello" to a double, it would give me an error. is there a way for me to know ahead of time whether converting something will cause an error?
I have made calculator in visual basic that can calculate the costs of products. You first select the type of product. Then you insert the dimensions. After that it calculates de costs. The type op products are stored in a Access database. In this database is stored a formula as a string. The problem is that i can't caculate the selected string with the formula and the given dimensions.
I am trying to convert a string of binary into hex. I have tried several ways and none have worked. This is my latest try. The code runs but doesn't appear to do anything.
I am using the .NET Framework 2.0, and I am trying to code a client bot for a game called Minecraft, Originally written in Java, there have been quite a few people who have made custom multi-player servers for this game, Primarily in C#, or in a language that i've never heard of, such as Pascal.I'm looking right now at sending this:
Packet ID: 0x00 (0) As Byte Protocol Version: 0x07(7) As byte Username: "umby25" As String
[code].....
"Byte cannot be converted to 1-Dimensional array of byte"
I don't understand why this whole thing would work in all of the other programming languages, but not Visual basic.I have tried converting the string using the same method that one of the open source C# servers used, and it failed, telling me that the dictionary does not contain that or something.
I am having trouble converting a string value to a text box name. The text boxes are created at runtime and I need to get the text value out so I can store them. I keep getting the error [code]
I was trying to figure out how to convert a string (that the user would input to the program via a textbox) into actual code for the program to compile. For example, if the user was to enter: (5*100)+(20-3). How could you take that inputted string, and have the program solve it and return the value?
I have a combobox that pulls a list of values from a database. When a new entry is entered I want an entry in the combobox to read "New record". However, from what I have seen I can only insert and object, such as a DataRow, into the combobox. Is there anyway I can convert a string to to a DataRow, or some other object and insert it in to the combobox? I know there is I am just rusty on my vb.
I'm using AxVLC to try to play a video from my.resources and I can't seem to convert the binary to a string for it to work...This is what I have so far - produces no errors, or results (nothing happens).
I'm trying to convert a chosen color into hex base 6 to save to a config file for later use, and that part works, but when converting back to integer to use for a color, it gives me an error about incorrect base.
Dim hex_color = System.Drawing.ColorTranslator.ToOle(ColorDialog1.Color).ToString("X6") Dim color_int As Integer = Convert.ToInt32(hex_color, 6) Panel1.BackColor = System.Drawing.ColorTranslator.FromOle(color_int)
I was trying to convert from Double to String and everything working fine. But when I tried some bigger number with fractions in it. I got the number but rounded. I tried something like that:
Dim dd As Double = 1235212435.3453636 Dim str As String = dd MsgBox(str) But what I got is 1235212435.34536 instead of 1235212435.3453636
