View 1 RepliesI have some experience with VB6 and it was easy to do a control array for radio buttons such that btnSMP(0) and btnSMP(1) and btnSMP(2) were together and if user clicked on btnSMP(1) it was shown with the blck dot on it as selected. If one then changed mind (which seems to be a very common thing) then if user clicked on btnSMP(0) then it was selected and the other one was not. That is not possible in Visual Studio 2008 for what ever reason the higher ups decided. I have read a number of articles now in MSDN about how to duplicate that feature in VB.net code but it seems to be a lot of work and they add in many features I do not have a need of

View 14 Repliesis it possible to dynamically create radio button options that are dependent on a value within a database? For example 'b' is stored in a field so then 'a' will also be a radio button option, 'd' is stored in a database field so then the other radio button options will be 'a', 'b', 'c'....the radio button list will change depending on the value stored in the database field.

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to create a control array in VB2005. As I've said in other questions, I've been working in VB5 for a good while but I'm new to VB2005. I know how to set the array up in VB5 but it doesn't work in VB2005. I tried some code that someone told me about, but it's not working. I have several books on programming VB2005 but
Here's my code as it stands now:
Public
Class frmMain
Public lblFasting(30)
[Code].....
I'm sort of repeating the same steps. There's got to be a way to shorten it.I was able to shorten it before by making a generic function to create the radio buttons. This is the before the rewrite
Public Sub LoadPanels(ByVal tblClient As DataTable)
Dim count As Integer = 20
Dim tooltip As New ToolTip
Dim countName As Integer = 0

I need to create a form with radio buttons, text boxes, labels, etc.. This information needs to be pulled from a database. For instance, I have a form that displays information that needs to be inputed to a database, based on what test is being done for a specific product. Each product requires different tests. So each product may or may not have the same information that needs to be inputed..
What I have done is made a database and filled a table with each product and what tests apply. I then call that database after the product has been selected for the tests. It will then fill an array for that products information for what texts boxes and labels need to be shown. I wanna take this further and have it create a form through code and align all the controls to specific spots so that it will look nice. For example I wouldn't wanna create a control and have it be cut out of the form, or have other controls overlapping others.

trying to write a simple form for calculating professor's salaries depending on their degree and position.my problem is that the when i select a check box, the value is not being updated until i select a different radio button. it probably doesn't make much sense here,
Public Class frmMain
Private Sub optLecturer_CheckedChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles optLecturer.CheckedChanged[code]....
the values being assigned to my salary label are correct, but are not being updated until i select a new radio button. im not entirely sure how to get around this so that the value is updated as soon as i select the check box.here's when the program looks like:

Using VB2010, I would like to create an array of buttons and a sub procedure that when I send the index number, I will be able to change the text on the specific button.
Dim myBtn as button={button1, button2, button3}
private sub GetCaption (ByVal x as integer)

My VB application is behaving strangley. I have form with fairly large number of controls. I am using case against radio buttons. after curtain number of buttons, it stops responding to more radio buttons.
Then I tried to split controls in to 2 form but now my form.showdialog() too now working properly. It takes new from names but show the old form when running.
When I used to play wiith VB 5.0 I was able to create an array of comand buttons on the form. This allowed me to have one routine that knew which of many buttonshad been clicked and I could then take specific action based on which button was clicked. I can't see how to do this in VBE 8. Is this possible?
View 11 RepliesI am trying to build a battleship game. The project is giving me one minor difficulty (so far). I do not know how to create the game board made up of 100 buttons. I can obviously drag and drop 100 buttons onto the form but this lacks a certain style, it would also be a pain. How do I create a form covered with required array of buttons automatically?

View 2 RepliesI need my app. to Create an Control Array at runtime that will consist of up to 50 Data Bound Labels. The app. will first be checking the 1st database field (Ing1) to see if there is data, if so then only create the 1st Data Bound Label (lblIng1) and then check the next field and so on.
The problem is that VB 2008 dos not seem to support Control Arrays. There must be another way to work around this.

I've been working with a sig capture application sample on a windows mobile device, The data is sent via IP to a host as a byte array and is then drawn onto the screen of the host as it appeared on the client. I was able to get this into the form of a bitmap object so I could print it or save to a jpg file. That all works well. The problem now is that I need to store this data in a database and then be able to recall it at a later time and recreate the signature image.
The byte array data is much smaller than the actual image so I would like to store it in that form. My issue is that when I convert this byte array into a string and back again my program can no longer re-create the image. Once I saw the problem I created the code below as a test and added the msgboxes to get an idea what was happened to my data.

I have a need to add 16 radio buttons to a groupbox but I want to be able to select 2 radiobuttons per groupbox. (2 vertical columns of 8 radio buttons each) The radiobuttons are created dynamically and each set of eight have different names to distinguish them. Do I really have to create 2 groupboxes and put each set of 8 in each groupbox and put those groupboxes into my parent groupbox? Is that it with radio buttons...if they are all in 1 groupbox then there is no way to select more than one at once?
View 1 RepliesI'm having issues with my current homework. I've got 6 different radio buttons and depending on which one is checked, the corresponding price shows up in the text box. I'm not sure if I need to create a sub-procedure or what. I can't seem to get anything to work.

I've gotten this far with the code but not sure where to go next.
I've figured out how to run through the radio buttons and save their checked status to a text file. Now Im trying to recheck them according to the value. Here is what I have.[code]...

What I have is a search program where people can enter in a person's policy number or first and last name and then chose which company to choose from. I have 7 radio buttons. Two are grouped in one groupbox the remaining 5 are grouped in a second groupbox. The two in the first groupbox are to chose whether to search by policy number or by firstname and last name. There are three text boxs. In the other group box is just radio buttons with list of companies to choose from with one radio button set to search through all companies. My problem is, how do I get my code to where I can choose to search by either policy number or by first name/last name and to then choose which company the person is with. Here is my code I have so far:
Private Sub Button4_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button4.Click
Dim connetionString As String

Just finished this and figured I would share.. It just uses images, but works very well.. Have a couple work arounds in there so you can still bind it to a Class. Let me know what you think:
