That's fine , how can we take that base class's object reference outside that derived class's definition.My following code will explain what i want . Actually that is giving error right now, but it is explaining my requirement .

Actually there is error in ReadOnly Property BaseReference's Getter . Error is "Error 1 'MyBase' must be followed by '.' and an identifier. " how can i get base class object reference in Main method ?

Public Property GetAllAdults() as Adults End Property I made the argument that this should be a method in the class, because it doesn't define an attribute of the class, and could not be extended with parameters. Is/Are there reasons why this should be defined as a property vs. a function?

May 24, 2011I'm working a business layer (separate assembly) that will contain various business entities used in multiple client applications. One of the client applications is a WCF app that will need to serialize these entities. In order to properly serialize the entities, metadata for data contracts or for XML serialization must be added, but the serialization requirements may vary across applications.
Clearly I need the metadata separated from the class definition. So how do I add metadata to my entities for each separate application?

Currently I have a linq to sql class that, of course, has a bunch of generated model definitions. I need to make a model that implements multiple models. Sep 14, 2009I have 3 classes that need themselves in order to do their work but if I declare them the old way it would end up being an endless loop.
As an ex C++ programmer, I know I could use include once but I don't know if there is any equivalency in vb.net Here is the picture.
I have 3 Classes : SQLConnector, ErrorHandler, LogHandler
- ErrorHandler needs SQLConnector to get some IDs from the Database.
- ErrorHandler needs the LogHandler class to prepare the Logs to be... logged.
- SQLConnector needs the ErrorHandler class in case there is errors happening.
- LogHandler needs SQLConnector to insert in the database.
- LogHandler needs ErrorHandler in case the insert is not successful (sends mail in that case)
As you can see, all three classes are needed. The reason why I can't use LogHandler and ErrorHandler as one class is that I will use that class to log transactions and changes according to some parameters. Log is in no way exclusive to ErrorHandler.how I can prevent to make an endless loop and use all three of them as I wish?
VS 2008 Using ENUM Definition In Class Properties?

A use this type in many places in my code to check the value stored in a variable (if MyAction = tAction.Delete then ...)
In a separate file, I define a class. One of the properties should return a value of this type:
public class XXX
private _Action as tAction
public property ClassAction() as tAction

This way I could check a class property in the same manner (if MyClass.ClassAction = tAction.Insert then ...)
However I get a syntax error in the property definition: 'ClassAction' cannot expose type 'Globals.tAction' outside the project through class 'XXX'
My entire program consists in a few modules, in a single project. How can I use my tAction definition in my classes?

Aug 12, 2009I'm writing a ray tracing program that uses snell's law to trace rays through a system of lenses to examine abberations in a given design.I have a class called lens, which holds variables for example, name of the lens, description, number of elements.I want to be able to have a sub class or array within lens (or some other way to manage this data).I wont know what number of elements is until run time.
So I would need to define the array at run time.Part of the idea of my program is randomly generate lens elements within given rules (as in a massive lot), keep the top designs and continually refine them by making billions of micro adjustments to the variables that define the lens etc, which I can pick up later on as it'll save the database/variables.For example, say Lens(63).NumberOfElements = 6.
I want to be able to access Lens(63).Element(3).Radius1 Etc, there will be a bunch of variables under Element, such as Radius1, Radius2, refractive index, horizontal diameter, vertical diameter, and spacing between the next element if it isnt the first.
And Lens(70) may only have 4 elements etc. How can I define a different array size like that in the class under different parent array indexes at run time?

Jun 21, 2010I want to create a user defined data structure, which will be a 2 dimensional array such that each individual square of this 2-dimensional array will also store the score and the grades. ( Iam using VB.NET) More details:
for example: There is an 2 dimensional array with 3 columns and 2 rows, I want to fill each of the
(0,0);(0,1);(0,2) with their own score (Integer type) and grades (String Type).
And this is same for the rest of the squares i.e. (1,0);(1,1);(1,2) and (2,0);(2,1);(2,2)
After creating such custom data structure: "CustomArray", I should be able to create the instance of this custom data structure (which will be a class) and code something like this:

The user will be able to upload their pages to the respective pages nodes and I am suppose to make it in such a way that after the user uploaded the cover page which is showing at the PictureBox1 which I've use to display the image, and when he uploads the second page image at the PictureBox1, the Cover page image that he uploaded earlier on will not be overwrite.

Jul 26, 2011I'm designing a small GUI Windows program that allow staff at a cinema to reserve seats for customers. There will be a total of 60 seats in the cinema. I have two classes in my program:-
1.) MainForm.vb - used for I/O actions and user interaction
2.) SeatManager.vb - used to hold and handle the background methods and functions that make the program work
Here is the code for my MainForm.vb class thusfar:-

Basically, when the program opens, the lstReservations list in the MainForm class will be populated with a total of 60 (m_totalNumberOfSeats) entries to represent 60 seats. Each of these seats will contain the index number from the array m_nameList; this index number (+1) will represent the seat number and then in the lstReservations list, after the seat number, I'd like it to contain the respective entry from the m_nameList array. As all entries will be held in RAM, when the GUI is opened, all m_nameList array entries will be empty. As the user uses the program, they can highlight a row in the lstReservations list and then use the GUI textboxes to enter the customer's name which will then be populated into the respective array entry.
how to, when the GUI opens, ensure that the lstReservations list takes all of the blank entries from the m_nameList array and from there, I can highlight a row to carry out further methods on?
