Create EventLog Event Source For Standard Users?

My applicaiton makes use of the Event Log to log exceptions and Informational messages, however when logged in as a Standard User who has limited access, I am receiving the Exception[code]...
I understand that the Event Source cannot be found in the log I am writting to (Application) and the application is attempting to create the Event Source but before it can be registered all Logs need to be reviewed to make sure the Event Source isn't already in use.
My question is how should I go about creating an Event Source that can be used by Standard Users? The application will be operating on a corporate network whereby we lock down all users to the least required privellages.[code]...

I have an app the writes to the eventlog correctly in xp. The code does not work in win7.

I get an error about inaccessable logs:security. I get that. Run as admin it goes away. I do not want to have to do that every time for every user that runs the app. besides they may not have the rights
So I wanted to make an instance of eventlog and set the Log to write to so it does not search the logs and error out on security.

Now i get warnings about "Access of shared member, constant member, enum member or nested type through an instance; qualifying expression will not be evaluated."
How the hell else are you to set the log so that the code will work under win7 with normal user rights AND not get this silly warnings?
I have 71 places that I write to the eventlog. that may or may not be too many but that is for another thread.

I have a vb.net windows form app that I am deploying as using the visual studio deployment project. The app needs to write event logs to the application log in the event viewer. For reasons explained here I need to create the event source during the installation process. Something like this to run as part of the installer
If Not EventLog.SourceExists(My.Application.Info.ProductName) Then
EventLog.CreateEventSource(My.Application.Info.ProductName, "Application")

That code needs to be run during the installer with elevated privileges. So my questions are:
How do I execute that code above as part of the installer? How do I get the installer to do the UAC prompt to allow that code to run as part of the installation?

I have an asp.net web app that uses forms-based authentication, a SqlMembershipProvider (using an encrypted password format), and a SqlRoleProvider. I've designed my own encryption application in VB 2008 that has a free tools section where users can choose a particular wizard to use from the drop down. The javascript wizards display the code required to put in their own sites. I already created wizards that users can well, use.I see people have their own "contact form wizards" on their websites all the time. Where users can use the wizard and get the displayed code to copy and paste on their sites. But trying to locate source codes to these things is very aggravating on the web.So what I want to do is create my own "form wizard" like out of javascript, that allows the user to put in some information then get the displayed code to put in their own websites. I'm not looking for the generator such as the online form generators.But the javascript source code(s) for the generator itself.Then I could simply put a form generator inside of my VB-app, that will allow the user to use the wizard, then get the html code to paste in their own sites. Preferably not the PHP one because the php backend is very difficult to put in a VB app.I know that it can be done. For example copying a web pages source code then putting it inside a string, then calling that string from a button click that will open the javascript page in the webbrowser inside the VB app.

im trying to create a program that will convert between metric and standard units.I chose length as my measurement so i have nanometer,millimeter,centimeter,meter,hectometer,kilometer,inc,feet,yard and mile.i wanted the input to be

I am making a new vb.net project . And 1 thing i have noticed many times is The software that i make in high resoltion computer lloks crap in computers with monitor resoluton of 800 by 600.Is there any way we can create software in standard form which has a higher probability to run in all pc's...I can think of 1 way i guess using monitor height and monitor width from properties and then adjusting form size relative to that

I usually use standard button and do the settings like causevalidation etc if required.
i decided to use toolstrip and inserted some buttons but end up that it doesn't do the validation for control and also doesn't call leave event of textbox control.
so my question is, anyway to use regular button functionality for toolstripbutton or there is a way to add regular button on toolstrip.

I have read a few threads related to hot keys but they seemed to be a little different. My case is that I have a form with about 12 buttons and I would like to assign a few keys to each button so maybe if the user pushed "ctrl + a" it would execute the first button. I am trying to add a TabPage containing a UserControl to a TabControl at runtime, because the number of TabPages to add are determined at runtime.
The UserControl (objDataInfo) is just two Textboxes, two labels and two Radiobuttons, nothing too exciting...
The TextBoxes have their Anchor properties set to Left, Up, Right so they scale with the width of the usercontrol.
The TabPages are added in the constructor of the form, which takes the number of tabpages to create (n) as an argument:

I'm writing a program in vb.net that automatically creates users from a database.It works fine, as long as there is no comma or there are no two spaces in the CN.
I am using the WinNT interface, so in fact it creates a SamAccountName and copies it automatically to the CN.When I create the entry manually in AD, I can add comma's and spaces without problems, so it should be a programming error.

Suppose I'm working with an API that exposes events, but these events do not follow the standard EventHandler or EventHandler<TEventArgs> signature. One event might look like this, for instance: Public Event Update(ByVal sender As BaseSubscription, ByVal e As BaseEvent). Now, typically, if I want to get an IObservable<TEventArgs> from an event, I can just do this: [Code]
But this doesn't work, because the Update event is not an EventHandler<UpdateEventArgs> -- in fact, there is no UpdateEventArgs, it's basically just its own thing. Obviously, I could define my own class deriving from EventArgs (i.e., UpdateEventArgs), write another class to wrap the object providing the Update event, give the wrapper class its own Update event that is an EventHandler<UpdateEventArgs>, and get an IObservable<UpdateEventArgs> from that. But that's an annoying amount of work.
Is there some way to create an IObservable<[something]> from a "non-standard" event like this, or am I out of luck? [Code] First of all: do I even have this straight? Second of all: am I correct in saying that using VB 9, there's really no way to accomplish the above without writing my own methods?

In my program you log into a MySQL database. I want to create cookie on the users machine and I want it to stay there until they press the "Logout" button. The cookie is there so that the program can constantly check to see if the cookie exists which will tell the program that user is online. How can I create a cookie?

I created a piece of code to create users in our active directory (2003) Everything is working OK and all attributes are set correctly. Only if i logon with a created user i do not get the mapping H: to the homedrive. When looking in ADUC the path to the homedir is correct. Also permissions on the homedir are correct and the user is owner of the dir.
If i correct the path in ADUC to another path and change it back again to point to the homedir the drive mapping is made correctly, so it look's like some kind of attribute is not set correctly. I used ldp.exe to view the created user's attributes before and after modifying the path but don't see any difference.
Tried to create the dir before and after user creation but that's not making any difference.

I'm wanting to create a control that allows users to upload PDF files and PDF files only. I know that there are object properties for windows forms that allow certain file types, is there anything for win apps?
