Create A Control That Allows Users To Upload PDF Files?
Apr 12, 2009
I'm wanting to create a control that allows users to upload PDF files and PDF files only. I know that there are object properties for windows forms that allow certain file types, is there anything for win apps? Or do you just have to check the end file extension after they tried to upload it and display an error? I've never done anything with web app uploading before.

I need to find a good control for VB.Net to upload big files to an FTP server:
Can upload files up to 10GB
Uses passive mode
Provides feedback during upload, to make sure it's going OK
Can cancel and resume
Up to two concurrent connections
I read about WebClient + NetworkCredential, but it doesn't seem to provide progress infos. There are also the FTPWebRequest/FTPWebResponse classes from WebRequest/WebResponse, as well as WebClient.UploadFileAsync.

I would like to upload files using the ASP FileUpload control. However, if I try and increase the limit to about 10000 kB, it doesn't work and accepts files only upto 4 MB in size and I get an error saying that the connection to the server was reset. I referred: [URL]..but when I modified the web.config.comments file, nothing happened. Where am I going wrong?
Also, I wanted to know how this would work when I deploy it on the web server. I'm asking because in the code behind, I'm still giving a hard coded value for the path where the file is to be uploaded. How does this work?

I am trying to create a program which will allow users to select multiple files from a list and then burn them all to a playable DVD. It would be wonderful if i could setup a custom menu programatically as well. I have seen some documentation on Imapi 2.0 but i have not been able to find too much suppoert for it. I have also found a few SDK's out there but most are over $1000 which just isnt in the budget.
1) Is there a library included in windows 7 that will allow me to do this.
2) Is there an inexpensive or open source sdk with good documentation out there to do this with

I have an asp.net web app that uses forms-based authentication, a SqlMembershipProvider (using an encrypted password format), and a SqlRoleProvider. I need to know if it's possible to administer the users (create new users, assign them to roles, etc.) from a windows application - the powers that be don't want any administrative functionality in the web app itself.Here is the membership provider definition from web.config:
<membership defaultProvider="MyProvider">
<providers>
<add name="MyProvider"

I'm currently working on an application that allows users to select picture files and then categorize them into folders. Now I'm having two issues that are probably simple to fix but I only have a year of experience with vb so I just don't know how to fix them. The first and biggest issue is that once the user has selected and categorized a file, I want the program to select the next file in the folder that the first file was moved from. This way the number of clicks required is minimized. However I have no clue what I would need to do in order to accomplish this. Also, my other problem is that I want to be able to find the indexof a quotation mark but whenever I put it in the parameter it just reads it as a quote.

I've designed my own encryption application in VB 2008 that has a free tools section where users can choose a particular wizard to use from the drop down. The javascript wizards display the code required to put in their own sites. I already created wizards that users can well, use.I see people have their own "contact form wizards" on their websites all the time. Where users can use the wizard and get the displayed code to copy and paste on their sites. But trying to locate source codes to these things is very aggravating on the web.So what I want to do is create my own "form wizard" like out of javascript, that allows the user to put in some information then get the displayed code to put in their own websites. I'm not looking for the generator such as the online form generators.But the javascript source code(s) for the generator itself.Then I could simply put a form generator inside of my VB-app, that will allow the user to use the wizard, then get the html code to paste in their own sites. Preferably not the PHP one because the php backend is very difficult to put in a VB app.I know that it can be done. For example copying a web pages source code then putting it inside a string, then calling that string from a button click that will open the javascript page in the webbrowser inside the VB app.

I thought I had my uploads working correctly on Friday, but when I tested the site this morning, it doesn't work right. My uploads are supposed to be going into an uploads/ file and then to a file that corresponds to the ProductID to which that upload is going.
Ex: My Test Product is ProductID 519. I want to upload a document so it should go to uploads/519. When I hover over the uploaded file, it says uploads/519/PhoneList.xls - which is correct. But when I check my Solution Explorer in Visual Studio 2010, the file shows up outside of the 519 file as 519PhoneList.xls

that will upload the favorites folder to a server so you can access your favorites even when your not on your own PC. My problem is that i am having trouble uploading multiple files, I know how to upload a single file via FTP but it seems like it would take way to long to go through every folder and every file would be pretty hard. I would like to use FTP

I am only allowed to use HTTP in my school (ie, no FTP is allowed). and i have to upload some file from a specific folder on my PC to a web page at 1 hour intervals automatically (ie, every hour a file is dropped into that folder, and i have to get a windows service or desktop application that would automatically detect the new file, and the file finally show on my website page, hosted on the school server.) Remember, the files reside in a folder called DAT on my personal computer in my office.

I have a folder on the Server that has a bunch of files such SBSA_UPLO_20101124, SBSA_UPLO_20101125, SBSA_UPLO_20101126. I would like to copy these files from this Server to a remote host Server that is connected to my IBM Universe database. The application must only copy a file that was uploaded 3 days before the current date.
e.g. if the current date is 27/11/2010, it must copy this file SBSA_UPLO_20101124.
SourcePath : \\ntdfkku1\download
Destination Path: cd /disk1/mmhh/PFILES
I am not sure what the best way to start this is
