Im trying to write a loop that will read through a number of *.csv files in a folder and then stuff the data into SQL. The code works and will happily put the data i want for a named file into SQL no problems. So when i had that working i then tried to loop it so that it would do the same for all files in the folder until all files had been done, and not error out if there where no files etc.
Maybe im tired (well, i am) or not had enough coffee but i just cant get this to work, it should be simple - i know it is infact, but its making ME feel simple.i think i should have an integer count in there, but similar examples ive seen dont use one. Also when trying to open the path i get an error at runtime "the path is not of a legal form"
code: Public Sub ImportCUSTCSVs() Dim dt As New DataTable() Dim line As String = Nothing[code].
Visual Basic 2008/2010 - Save Page As, create a Folder, upload the folder to a specific ftp site I am working on this vb app that will goto a specific site, click on a button(i am still working on the button process) do a save page as, create a folder, save those files to a folder and then upload that folder to a ftp site.
I have an FTP connection with around 50 folders in it, I have one file that I need to upload to all of these folders, how can I get the list of these folders in there so I can go ahead and upload the file automatically? The folder # keeps increasing and I can't manually keep uploading the file to each folder.
how i must go about creating a folder say "pics" in my root and then upload a images from the file upload control in into that "pics" folder? If you don't want to give me all the code, i will be happy with a nice link also to show me how this will be done in VB.NET (C# is also ok).
I thought I had my uploads working correctly on Friday, but when I tested the site this morning, it doesn't work right. My uploads are supposed to be going into an uploads/ file and then to a file that corresponds to the ProductID to which that upload is going.
Ex: My Test Product is ProductID 519. I want to upload a document so it should go to uploads/519. When I hover over the uploaded file, it says uploads/519/PhoneList.xls - which is correct. But when I check my Solution Explorer in Visual Studio 2010, the file shows up outside of the 519 file as 519PhoneList.xls
I am trying to upload files from a local folder to a ftp server folder which works fine when doing it with filezilla. I keep getting this error:
Quote:
the remote server returned an error: (550) file unavailable (e.g., file not found, no access).
'....ftppath = "tp://192.xxx.xx.xx/%2f/feedb/gnip/ Public Sub uploadFTP(ByVal ftpPath As String, ByVal localPath As String, ByVal username As String, ByVal psswd As String)
first i create 1 form, 1 picture box and 1 button..

Right now I am using the simple my.computer.network.uploadfile(fileToUpload,mNetLocation, user, pass) to upload my files to the ftp server but nothing I see will create a folder on the ftp server, how can I do this?
I created some directories myself because I can predict what the directory names were going to be, but the other directories need to be created on the fly & are basically random, how can I go about creating the folder I need so I can use the method I already do to upload the files into that folder?I figured maybe it'd work, maybe the FTP server would resolve & add the directory itself when I tried to upload, but instead it failed saying it doesn't exist & forces me to create the directories manually.
I'm wanting to create a control that allows users to upload PDF files and PDF files only. I know that there are object properties for windows forms that allow certain file types, is there anything for win apps? Or do you just have to check the end file extension after they tried to upload it and display an error? I've never done anything with web app uploading before.
I have a folder that contains about 100 txt files with information in each file.I'm trying to figure out how to loop through each file in the folder, and add the text to a string.I've pulled this off MSDN's site, but it doesn't seem to read "each" file but just one.
Dim path As String = "c: empMyTest.txt" ' This text is added only once to the file. If File.Exists(path) = False Then
I was wondering how i would go about make my program loop threw files in a folder and if that file is .jpg it will delete I use this to see if the file exists and delete it
If System.IO.File.Exists("file.jpg") = True Then System.IO.File.Delete("file.jpg.jpg") End If
but how would i do a loop and grab every .jpb file so they can be deleted
I have encountered an error whenever I try to run my SendEmail method, the method will actually loop through a folder of files and attach the files to the mail. I am able to send email for "Records", but when the method reaches "Lists", it throws a "NullReferenceException" on the line which I have bold.
Code: Public Sub SendEmail() 'Create a outlook application Dim olApp As Outlook.Application olApp = New Outlook.Application Dim olMail As Outlook.MailItem [Code] .....
I am working with Vb.Net 2005, at run time I receive the error; UnauthorizedAccessException was unhandled Access to the path 'F:New FolderTest' is denied and this path does exists..
Code: Private Sub btnUnpackFolder_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnUnpackFolder.Click UnzipArchive(Label1.Text, Label2.Text)

My primariry task is to read all the zip files in folder Test, unzip them and copy them to folder Test2.
I've set up a basic loop to delete all the files in a particular folder. I've set the loop in a Try block so it doesn't crash the application when it gets to a file it can't delete. I'd like for the app to just pass over these type of files. At the moment, my loop stops completely when it gets to that exception.
How can I do it so every time the user loads my application it will automatically (without prompt, or user selecting) upload all the files in a folder i select beforehand and add them into ListBox1
I am trying to watch files in a directory to determine when files are opened/accessed. I thought FileSystemWatcher would do the trick using the event Changed.
Problem is that some applications do not create a lock on the file they open/access or change either the date modified or date accessed (even after fsutil behavior set disablelastaccess 0). Notepad for example. Apparently is makes a copy of the file in memory and plays with it there until you save it. Nor does it update the Date Accessed.
How can I monitor a directory of files and be notified when a file is simply opened/accessed by any program (e.g. Notepad)? Files may be opened from another computer, not necessarily on the computer running the "watcher".
I have many text files in a folder. What I can do now is to read through one text at a time and insert it into the database. My little app reads a text file when I debug it. So, I need to run it several times to read all those text files and import them into the database.
My question is how to read multiple text files inside a folder at a time. Here's my code which works fine but it reads only one text files at a time.Private Sub btnRead_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnRead.Click
[Code]...
I need a way to loop through a folder and check if there's text file. But I cant get it right. Can anyone show me some code or links ? I'm using VB.NET, .NET 3.5
All i am trying to do is read and write files to a shared folder on a network in visual basic (VS 2010). I can go to the folder through windows without a problem and without being prompted for a password. However when i try to do it through visual basic, it cant find the directory. Here is my small snippet of code that i (hope) is telling me that the program cannot connect to the folder. [code] Are there any known issues with VS 2010 that may cause this? Maybe something else in my code that could have an effect? This is in my form_load event though, so it is literally one of the first things that runs.
Is it possible, create a button that can start looking for files in a particular folder and open and close each 1 of them. Eje: Search in c: est (here open and read all files on folder in texbox) test.txt, test2.txt, ... Open 1 and close to open 2, close and open 3... I write the folder to search, and program find and open and close all files in the folder.

Obviously, I need a way to loop through a folder and check if there's text file. But I cant get it right.
I am facing problem to upload the file to FTP server. As ftp server is : ftp://myFTPserver.com Current Default Folder: GO.$DataW1.SVMANNET
But I want to upload the file on Go.Data72.CLEVDATA Folder. how to change the path from teh default folder to teh folder where i want to upload the files.
Like from command Prompt we can use ftp> cd GO.$DATA72.CLEVDATA to change the current directory. how can we achieve the same in dot net.
in the current project im making i've decided to add in some tools, 1 of which is a renamer based of a renamer app that already exists (called scdtoolz), i want to build my own version of it so i can learn some new things, and build a nice GUI version of it.[code]So what i have managed to determine is that the current app scans the folders contents for the CRC32 Checksum, and renames based of that, since the 456.bin's CRC32 Checksum was 2274F80B, and in the text file 2274F80B is found here 'WWF - Rage in the Cage (T-81015)(U)#2274F80B#'So now i have determined game identification is based of the CRC32 checksums, how would i go about coding a similar ap in vb.net?first i need to make the app scan a folder, but how to return crcchecksum? and then rename if check = XXXX? If MD4 sums are easier/simpler i can use those instead, im lookin at a few hash app sources now, so i think i can see how to get the md5 but not the crc32 yet, or how to rename the 2 files and folder based of the text file.
I am working with VB 2008. I want to be able to run this program say in N: and it will show me in an excel sheet the following:
Folder Path Size(GB) Count of Files N:Clients 0.53 308
where clients contains subfolders and files and the size is the total of all those files within each folder and the count is the total within each folder also.
This works fine as it is but i have to select one by one the top level folders and some of them are huge so it takes forever to give me an answer.
1) I would like to see in my spreadsheet the following by only select the network drive n:
