View 3 Replieshow to connect a SQL Table to a DataGridView that was previously created programmatically. Basically, at run-time the user names and creates several empty SQL Tables and DataGridViews. After that the user selects from a combobox the name of the SQL Table and DataGridView that they want to import data into, then clicks a button named "Import"...after clicking "Import" the user navigates to an Excel file, chooses a worksheet, clicks a "Continue" button and then the code successfully connects to the Excel import file and SQLBulkCopies the data to the SQL Table...next I need the imported data in the SQL Table update to the DataGridView...this is the part I can't figure out.
The challenge is the datagridview isn't hard coded it was created and named programmatically at runtime. So now the user selects the name of the SQL Table the data resides in and the name of the DataGridView from the combobox "moduletableCB" and I need the code to update the datagridview.

I have a search page in my application where I am searching the database for the records that meet the specified conditions that the user selects. All of this works by creating the dataset, datatable, and dataadapter in the code. I then take a created bindingsource link it to the created datatable and then attach the bindingsource to my datagridview to display the results. Now what I am trying to do is to figure the Mean, Median, Mode and Standard Deviation of the results that were found above. My question is how to I run a select query on the code created table. I have the select query I want to use and when I try to use it in the code it talks about the connection. Now I have a dataset that is part of the project and I have the on just for the search page. Let me know if you need any code samples.
View 10 RepliesI am trying to make a strong (or even medium-security) based authentication. How this would work is simply by storing a username/code on web (using dropbox perhaps) then using those codes to pass on to friends to use. This way if you remove that code online,that person will no longer be able to access that program. As far as I know, it is quite simple to save the number of uses, or username and pass on a text file to save on their file or registry things can be done but that is only 1 computer based. That is a very easily crackable security and is not worth it.As far as I have know you need to create a new main form where the code/ id/ username/password/onetimelogin will be asked. If it is correct, form2.show if not then "exit". The codes are stores on a text file on dropbox.com like websites, then the link to the textfile is obtained.

I have a connection to an access database, I have used the data sources tool provided because in this particular instance I don't want to do much with it other than display the records (which I can do) and edit them (which I'm haveing some trouble with).I have created a system whereby the database is connected to using the preset tools available like; BindingSource, TableAdapter, BindingNavigator etc.
I also have a button for edit. This doesn't work and I was wondering if anyone could help me with this? I can't really provide any code for this, because I didn't code the connection by hand and the code I have been attempting to use for editting the records in the database doesn't even sort of work.
I Have a problem with vb.net. Basically I created an application that communicates via system.net.socket. on the server side of client connect, and a thread checks whether there are new incoming data. if there are data, puts them in a few tread declared variables, together with the "index" of the server. once this is done through "INVOKE" calls a routine that checks the incoming data andperforms an operation based on the data. I'll see what I do not work
Dim returndata As String = System.Text.Encoding.ASCII.GetString(data)
TextBox1.Text = ("DATA : " & returndata & "Socketindex =" & socketindex.ToString & " Index=" & index.ToString)
But that does not appear in the texbox, appears only "returndata", the rest c 'is same thing with the messagebox, individually, can display a messagebox with variable,but when I try to make a messagebox that displays them together, the texbox same thing!
And the same thing if I want to compare them with each other, for example
if index
= 0 then msgbox ("OK")
It does not work ...

it's just for a program registration. i would store all of the registration codes in the access database, then export it to XML, then upload it to my web host. I would then somehow connect it to my Visual Basics login form (Which I have already made). If this can't be done, having them register through the form and having all the allowed codes on the internet (So i can easily edit them)!

PHP
Dim Connec As New OleDbConnection("provider=microsoft.jet.oledb.4.0; data source = \Serverc$xDB.mdb;")
my problem is : I worte : if I want to connect to database from any pc I must save Username and password to control userpasswords2 (soted user name and password from User accounts)that's big problem , so I must save this to all client pc and the client can access Server system Drive there are no security ,this is the fifth day to find a way to connect to my database from server without share system drive.I tried to used it but not working.where can I write server name and path database and server's User-name and password.I've an exe file on server drive like this \Serverc$1.exe
I want some client to run this file with out share the file.If I can to creat a form by vb.net has a Username and password to run this exe without client know the userName and password.I'found map network , but is not ok for me.If I mapped network drive to client, then he can copy files and read some of security data.Is there a way to access this file from server without mapping or sharing folder for public ?
I'm developing a online document management application for my client using the following technologies
Front End - VB.Net 2010 (Windows Forms)
Back End - SQL Server 2008 R2 Express (FILESTREAM enabled to level 3)
I wanted to store the files (*.pdf, *.doc, *.exe, .) using the FILESTREAM feature in SQL Server 2008 R2.I prefer FILESTREAM because sometimes the file size exceeds 2GB.I'm able to save and retrieve file with FILESTREAM (using Windows Authentication/Integrated Security).But my client wants to save or retrieve the file from different PC.So I'm in need of accessing the FILESTREAM BLOB from remote systems.
An Error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When Connecting to a SQL Server2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL server doesn allow remote connection (provider: Named Pipe Provider, error: 40- Could not open a connection to SQL Server)I want to connect to the SQL Server 2005 Express Edition which is running on my system from a VB.NET application. I have been programming vba for some time and am now starting VB.NET. I need to connect to an existing access db file (access 2003). I downloaded VS2010 and found an example on the net. Here is most of the code:
Imports System.Data.OleDb
Public Class Form1 Inherits System.Windows.Forms.Form
Dim cn As OleDbConnection
Dim cmd As OleDbCommand
get the argument for the desktop of the user
I am getting this error message:

I have tried to add a reference to System.Data.OleDb but it doesn't appear in the add reference box. System.Data.OleDb is checked in the Imported namespaces window. I have tried changing the .NET Framework but, no help.
I want to know how to connect to a remote system having some shared folder.(ex, \myservermysharedfolder).Actually, I was supposed to copy a particular file which is available in a shared location of a system. To copy that file, first i need to connect to that system with an user id and password.I know copying of file (), But not getting clear idea on how to connect to the shared folder. I have tried with System.Management class, but no use..

We have a VB.Net application which works fine in our tests in different Windows XP SP3 machines. However there is one machine in which is displaying this error:
Unable to connect to any of the specified MySQL hosts
Using the mysql command, we can successfully connect to the database. We already checked for any other application or firewall that could be blocking the connection but it seems fine. We also reinstalled the system (no errors during the installation) but the MySQL error message doesn't change.
The system settings are exactly the same as in the other computers. We are using "localhost" as server in the connection string. The "hosts" file has its default values (nothing strange in there).

I can successfully add a data source and preview the data within the IDE so assume that the connection is ok regarding Connection strings and remote access.

If you want a instance of an object to be created when a form loads or another class is created, you have two options:
Public class example
private IAmAObject As IAmAObject
public sub new()
[CODE]...
Or like this:
public class example
private IAmAObject as new IAmAObject
public sub new()
[CODE]...
I always use the first one. It's more type work but I think it's neater. How about you people and is there any real difference between the two?
I can usually find the answers to most of my questions via the Google Gods, but not this time.I have a form that has a TabPageControl and on that page a collection of labels and text boxes via a usercontrol.
On the form I have a button that allows the user to create a new tabpage, when the code adds a new page, it automatically adds the UserControl collection. I can't get my head around how to access the objects on the newly created tabpage.
What I need to be able todo is take the index of the tabpage that has focus and translate that against the UerContol name, but I havn't a clue how to do it!
