I have several pictures on my form designer and a large textbox to the right of them. When the user clicks the pictures I want a list to be created in the textbox. I was able to get a single button posted into the textbox but when a second picture is clicked it over rides it and replaces it. I wasn't sure if i should be use some kind of loop or not.

I am working on a project that requires me to read a table of items, and then display the items as button with a photo for a POS system. Any suggestions on how to implement this? This project is using .NET 3.5 and a SQL Compact 3.5 database as a data store.I am using windows forms over an MDI form.
I've been trying to get some PictureBox'es to appear and disappear dynamically. Here is my code I've been trying to get to work:
Private Sub Container_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Dim Image As New PictureBox
[Code].....
Obviously, this isn't how I started out. But I've been trying everything I can to get it to actually display. If I have a PictureBox with exactly the same properties, it displays when I tell it to. This way, it doesn't. I even created an entire class and used that - nothing. I'm guessing it may be the fact that I used a Dim statement, but I'm still a teensy bit novice-y to certain aspects of VB (in particular, Image handling).
I am using a ListView control to display Pictures along with description and caption. I used to save the full path of the image in the url field, so when I display them in the ListView I don't need to edit anything. Now I am using something like:
How can I edit my ListView to make it show the images?
I used to do the same to GridView when in GridViews RowDataBound event I manipulate the contents like:
Dim photo As New Image photo.ImageUrl = "~/photos/" + e.Row.Cells(TheCellNumber).Text e.Row.Cells(0).Controls.Clear() e.Row.Cells(0).Controls.Add(photo)
I have around 1300 jpeg's that need to be renamed based on the value in an excel spreadsheet.
What I need to be able to do is parse each jpeg in a directory, compare the filename to a list of names in a column in the spreadsheet and if it exists, rename it with the corresponding value from the next column and then move to the next file and so on and so on.
I have the following code for opening the spreadsheet and reading the files but am not sure how to compare the spreadsheet values to the filenames and then rename them:
Code: Imports System Imports System.IO Imports System.IO.File
i am trying to create a form in VS using ASP that when upon submitting a form the details will get automatically stored in an xml file which can be accessed later on a chosen file save path.i have 2 files ... "Contact.aspx" and "Contact.aspx.vb".i have created the form in the "Contact.aspx" and when trying to enter the fields in the "contact.aspx.vb" i keep getting several errors such as for example...
Error 5 'Formatting' is not a member of 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.XmlBuilder'
Error 6 'WriteStartDocument' is not a member of 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.XmlBuilder'.
Error 7 'WriteComment' is not a member of 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.XmlBuilder'.
Error 8 'WriteStartElement' is not a member of 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.XmlBuilder'.
Error 10 'WriteAttributeString' is not a member of 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.XmlBuilder'.
there is like 30 errors in total... im literally stuck out my head been trying for 2 days now and can't grasp what im doing wrong ive tried even some of the tutorials online but loads of errors...
I am creating a "Who wants to be a millionaire" game. Lets say I have 100 questions in a listbox. How can i randomally select a question by clicking a button.
I'll start off with a brief explanation of my situation. I'm doing my A-Level coursework project at the moment and am having some difficulty trying to figure something out. My project is a VB.NET Program that connects to a Database to display/add/delete/update records. At the moment I am having trouble with one particular thing which must be solved before I can move on (and the deadline is fast approaching).
I have a combo box which contains a list of different item types (Which match up to the item types used in the database, but it is not filled from the database). When the user selects one of these options, the list box below must fill with all items of that type that are in the database.
Unfortunately I'm at home so I can't get access to my coding, but I can try to explain what I've tried. I've tried so many things after trawling though what seems like endless amounts of tutorials to find an answer.
One thing that is used in pretty much all of them is the SQL string to select the needed records;
"SELECT ItemName FROM Stock WHERE ItemType = Anime"
Now, this has been used many different ways. I think the way that I'm trying at the moment is to create a new data set that contains the records that are needed for the search. There is already a data set that contains the whole table that is needed for this particular form. I think my most recent attempt was trying to copy the relevant information from the original data set to the new one, but I can't get any coding that isn't incorrect.
Im using a black n white image of a human as my back ground and panels to display the same bits in color when the area is clicked. What isn't working for me is the panels are slightly overlapped and one will always be on top of the other. it is transparent so you can see the back ground, but not the panel underneath it when it has a picture in it.
When the user clicks the Exit button it closes the forms and if there was an open file it asks the user is they would like to save. But after the application closes there is still memory being held in Processes by the application. However, when pressing the [X] in the top of the form the application closes again but in this instance it is not held in Processes. How do I write the close for Exit to take into account how the [X] works and close the application cleanly?
Friend Sub CloseAllForms() CloseHelpForm(True) CloseDiagForm()[code].....
Someone asked me to add a function when the notifyicon is doublcliked. I figured that'd be easy with the mousedoubleclick event being available. I find out that then both the single and double will then be called. Well that sucks, I want it to only do the one the user requests. So I tried to get it to work:
Private Sub DblClick_Tick(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles DblClick.Tick
I want to create a big list box that has lots of default values in many lines so they can then be edited later.Right now I have in my initializer:
Dim counter As Integer = 0 For counter = 0 To counter = totalNumber listBoxThingy.Items(counter) = ("DEFAULT DETAILS TO BE COMPLETED") Next
with my list box called listBoxThingy and totalNumber a previously defined constant of how many items I want in my list box.yet when I try to run the code I always just end up with the first list value containing the text.Even if I put a counter=counter+1 it still only gives me the one completed value of my list box?
I would like to know how I can get the list of possible choices to Intellisense for my class object, like it does with MsgBox.For example, when creating a message box you type MsgBox "Test Message Text", vbYesNo, "Test Message Title".In typing that, when you type the comma just before the vbYesNo, it gives you the possible selections for button types in a drop down list: i.e., vbYesNo, vbOKOnly, etc.I have a class called clsKeyState. what it does is turn on/off/toggle key states, such as CAPS LOCK, SCROLL LOCK, NUM LOCK, etc... I have set my property for it as Get/Let "State". When I call it to set a key to on/off I will be doing it like this: KeyState.State WhichKey, On/Off/Toggle.I would like the WhichKey part to automatically display all the possible selections that I define, such as CapsLock, NumLock, Scroll Lock; and I want the On/Off/Toggle to display those specific items also (On, Off, Toggle). I will be using the ability to create these displayable options for many more things in my project than just this one simple class.
So I have a program that is supposed to support a small business. I have the work completed and the professor said it was correct but I wanted to go do a little extra. Basically, on the Order screen, you begin to type the name of a customer/supplier/employee into a text box and a list of names that fit the criteria pops up in a list box (lbMatchingAccounts). When you select it, you can hit enter new order and be transported to the Order Details screen to enter the new order.
I want to create a sorted list, where I enter a name in two separate text boxes(Jones, Brown) and their values in two other textboxes(200,500), then in a fifth text box I enter one of the names and it gives me a messagebox with its corresponding value. Here is my code below.
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim saleslist As New SortedList(Of String, Decimal)
I'm trying to create a small program where someone would select one of five items from a list box (Hot, Medium, Mild, Sweet, Zesty). When they select this, they then enter in a qtyTextBox the quantity they want, ie.e, 1, 2, 3, 5,... Then they the Calculate Button, which then the total would go into the preDiscountLabel box, where it would calculate the amount they want * the sale price. Here is the Price Listing:
I want to create a generic list - but I want to specify the type at runtime - is there a way I can do this? using reflection perhaps?Something like this...
Public Shared Sub create(ByVal t As Type) Dim myList As New Generic.List(Of t) End Sub
I am using MS Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2000 to develop an application. I wish to make a list of radio buttons when I fetch a particular column from a table. for example, I fire a query that returns to me 10 types of candies, (yummy!). I want to show these candies as options on the form. I want to use Radio Buttons. Now the number of candies are not fixed, it can be any number (less than 15-20). So I wish to dynamically create this 'Array of Radio Buttons' on the form.
I am creating a List(Of String), always of size 9.This list contains True/False values. I need to go through this list and find the 3 values that are True (will never be more than 3, but could be less) and then set 3 string values in my code to the 3 index's of those values + 1.
Here is my current code:
Private Sub SetDenialReasons(ByVal LoanData As DataRow) Dim reasons As New List(Of String) With reasons
[code]...
I had 3 True's next to each other in the array and the code failed with an exception saying count must be positive or something. Now if there are less than 3 True's, it should set the remaining DenialReason's that haven't been set yet as blank (however they are set as blank in the constructor already to account for this).
I have been trying to figure out how to get my code to work. (It was a homework assignment which has already been turned in but I am determined to get this code to work.)I have a text box titled txtSearch and btnClick.I need to search a list box for a city name and then have it displayed in a message box. If there is not a match then I need to display an alternative message box stating there is no match. City is in the list box starting at 16.The text needs to be case insensitive.I am only getting the message "That is not a valid city." for any entry that I type into my txtSearch even though I know it should be a match.
Here is what I have for code
Private Sub btnFind_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnFind.Click ' Declare variables to find text on txtSearch when button clicked Dim length As Integer = txtSearch.TextLength Dim value As String = txtSearch.Text.ToUpper
I have an array of 26 strings from A to Z. Then, I am creating a random list of 7 alphabets from this array. Now I want the user to pick first 2 alphabets manually and then on a click it will display the rest 5 randomly generated after subtracting first 2 picked ones from the whole 26 alphabets array. how this can be achieved in lists.
I'm having trouble creating a global array that i can use in other functions.
I have this code right under "Public Class myClass":
Dim LoadedPlugins As Array
Then in a function I have this:
Dim PluginList As String() = Directory.GetFiles(appDir, "*.dll") For Each Plugin As String In PluginList Dim Asm As Assembly
[Code]....
Now obviously that doesn't work, how can I add the tmpPlugin to an array or list so I can use it in other functions?
The main thing I need to be able to do is loop through all the loaded plugins and execute the CustomFunction in a separate function than the one that loads the plugins listed above.
