I am creating a List(Of String), always of size 9.This list contains True/False values. I need to go through this list and find the 3 values that are True (will never be more than 3, but could be less) and then set 3 string values in my code to the 3 index's of those values + 1.
Here is my current code:
Private Sub SetDenialReasons(ByVal LoanData As DataRow)
Dim reasons As New List(Of String)
With reasons
[code]...
I had 3 True's next to each other in the array and the code failed with an exception saying count must be positive or something. Now if there are less than 3 True's, it should set the remaining DenialReason's that haven't been set yet as blank (however they are set as blank in the constructor already to account for this).
when I click the Open button a file is opened and its items are sorted alphabetically. to do this I have doubled the size of my list. However, when I click the button again to reopen the same file, the items will ADD ON to the previous open-file event even though I have this piece of lstListboxTwo.Items.Clear()(the correct thing is to clear the previous items and add the new ones)So I think this has to do with the new size of my list..I think that I have to set the list size back to its normal size when re-clicking on the button.
Public Class frmForm Dim List() As String = {""} Dim count As Integer
I want the Function to accept List(Of String), Array & String and similarly return List(Of String), Array & String respectively. The Function simply adds a string (month) to the input collection. I just want to use it for string, array and list with needing to think of conversions.
I had set a print format to print some word in a Text box, when I input the text in text box is an normal size from system, but I want it print out to printer follow the Rectangle size that is was set to print out on paper.actuary i want it can auto size the font size follow by the length of string.
I (SQL Server DBA) have inherited a VB App, being called in a TSQL Script, that creates a PDF using the Crystal reports. Until a month , PDF was being generated with correct extension and size, but for some unknown reason the app creates a non PDF file with Zero size. Interestingly the script that calls the App and send the PDF created as an attachment in an email via MS Outlook, sends it as PDF with data.
Also when trying to open up the same 0KB file in Acrobat, gives an error: "Could not open because it is either not a supported file type or the file has been damaged (for example it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)" FYI, the Exchange server was upgraded so the email isn't working either and its causing a great pain for management to not to be able to have that report.
MVC 3 razor VB.NET project. I have resorted to manual building a list for a drop down box so I can insure certain values are available in the select list and also to control what the first item is in the list. The below is my code snippet for the part that is giving me problems..
being used to PHP and the easiness of creating arrays with no specific size... I'm hating arrays in VB.
Is there a way I can create an array who's size I won't know?
I'm pulling information out of an XML file and need the information available in another sub - so I'm stashing it in a public array I create at the beginning of the form.
I have added a Split container onto my Form and within bottom Panel I have added a list box.How can I increase the size of the list box as I increase the size of the panel?
I am trying to limit the size of my generic list so that after it contains a certain amount of values it wont add any more. I am trying to do this using the Capacity property of the List object but this does not seem to work. Dim slotDates As New List(Of Date) slotDates.Capacity = 7 How would people advice limiting the size of a list? I am trying to avoid doing a statement to check the size after an object is added.
I have two datagridviews in my app. They're related. When there is no record in the parent datagridview, I select the "New Row" and then press the Add Button in the child datagridview's bindingnavigator. Then I get that exception:
InvalidOperationException: Item cannot be added to a read-only or fixed-size list.
I know why this happens. When I add new record to child datagridview, parent datagridview's new row loses focus and then delete row. So this error occures. How do I prevent my program from this exception. Remember, it's only occures if there is no record in the parent datagridview.
We're working on a big ASP.NETVB.NET website project. I need to populate three dropdownlists. To last two are independent of the previous ones. The population data comes from an SQL Server. I'd have no problem doing this with code-behind with post back but we don't want any PostBacks so I started to develop this in AjaxjQuery.
I created a .NET application that reports to a log file the contents of a registry key. My code works perfectly but it is choking on one of the string values found in the registry. The code that works normally is below.
I'm trying to solve a problem regarding types of list. First of all I have a stored procedure in my DB which does a select of a single column and I try to proceed it in my app in VB. By making a method function I declared a DataTable that loads through the SqlCommand(with the CloseConnection behavior). After that I publicly declared a List(Of String) which needs to be populated with the rows/items from the stored procedure that is on the way. Below is my snippet of the code:
Dim dt As New DataTable() Try If conn.State = ConnectionState.Open Then
[Code]....
It's LPrefix = collection.Cast(Of String)() where I get an exception error telling me that I can't really convert it. The old fashion way is to iterate with for/for each loop but that's not what I want for best use of performance especially if the list will have thousands of rows from a single column. So basically, I want to insert those items from that DataTable to the List(Of String) without For/For Each loop.
Running on VisualStudio2010 Ultimate, .NET FrameWork 4.0.
I want to create a big list box that has lots of default values in many lines so they can then be edited later.Right now I have in my initializer:
Dim counter As Integer = 0 For counter = 0 To counter = totalNumber listBoxThingy.Items(counter) = ("DEFAULT DETAILS TO BE COMPLETED") Next
with my list box called listBoxThingy and totalNumber a previously defined constant of how many items I want in my list box.yet when I try to run the code I always just end up with the first list value containing the text.Even if I put a counter=counter+1 it still only gives me the one completed value of my list box?
I would like to know how I can get the list of possible choices to Intellisense for my class object, like it does with MsgBox.For example, when creating a message box you type MsgBox "Test Message Text", vbYesNo, "Test Message Title".In typing that, when you type the comma just before the vbYesNo, it gives you the possible selections for button types in a drop down list: i.e., vbYesNo, vbOKOnly, etc.I have a class called clsKeyState. what it does is turn on/off/toggle key states, such as CAPS LOCK, SCROLL LOCK, NUM LOCK, etc... I have set my property for it as Get/Let "State". When I call it to set a key to on/off I will be doing it like this: KeyState.State WhichKey, On/Off/Toggle.I would like the WhichKey part to automatically display all the possible selections that I define, such as CapsLock, NumLock, Scroll Lock; and I want the On/Off/Toggle to display those specific items also (On, Off, Toggle). I will be using the ability to create these displayable options for many more things in my project than just this one simple class.
So I have a program that is supposed to support a small business. I have the work completed and the professor said it was correct but I wanted to go do a little extra. Basically, on the Order screen, you begin to type the name of a customer/supplier/employee into a text box and a list of names that fit the criteria pops up in a list box (lbMatchingAccounts). When you select it, you can hit enter new order and be transported to the Order Details screen to enter the new order.
I want to create a sorted list, where I enter a name in two separate text boxes(Jones, Brown) and their values in two other textboxes(200,500), then in a fifth text box I enter one of the names and it gives me a messagebox with its corresponding value. Here is my code below.
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim saleslist As New SortedList(Of String, Decimal)
I'm trying to create a small program where someone would select one of five items from a list box (Hot, Medium, Mild, Sweet, Zesty). When they select this, they then enter in a qtyTextBox the quantity they want, ie.e, 1, 2, 3, 5,... Then they the Calculate Button, which then the total would go into the preDiscountLabel box, where it would calculate the amount they want * the sale price. Here is the Price Listing:
The intention is to convert an IList of custom objects to a string equivalent comprising each element in the Ilist. Unfortunately I can't seem to find a way to get the underlying data of the custom object, and of course as in the above example, using object simply gives me a string of types definitions, rather than access to the underlying data.
I have two List(Of String) both containing several hundred thousand results.
Private Function AddUniqueFiles(lNewFiles as List(Of String)) As outList(Of String) Dim aCounter As Integer = 0 Dim files As New inList(Of String)
[Code]....
However the time it takes to do this comparison can be very long indeed - is there a better way of doing this type of comparison... All I am trying to do is add values from List2 in to List1 which are not already present in List1 - So in effect adding new Unique values found in List 2 in to List 1. I am only looking for performance improvements - nothing else.
I have a stream reader that reads a website text and places it in a txt file synonyms.txt then I can read to a specific line in the textfile that the results always end up on and place that line in a richtextbox in my project.the line looks something like this:
\tab\tab\tab\tab <br /><div class="ResultsSubTitle">Synonyms (Grouped by Similarity of Meaning) of <span class="Accent I">verb</span> house</div><br /><div class="Accent Sense">Sense 1:</div>house<br /><span class="equals">accommodate, hold, admit</span><br
In my application i have a TextBox named "Me.txt_catre.Text" and a MS Word File (.doc) containig "<<03>>" word that must be replaced with the value from TextBox...
I use this peice of code...
code:
The problem is... if the "Me.txt_catre.Text" contains more than 255 characters as a string... the application gives me error...
What solution i have to place more than 255 chars into that MS Word file ?
I want to create a generic list - but I want to specify the type at runtime - is there a way I can do this? using reflection perhaps?Something like this...
Public Shared Sub create(ByVal t As Type) Dim myList As New Generic.List(Of t) End Sub
I am using MS Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2000 to develop an application. I wish to make a list of radio buttons when I fetch a particular column from a table. for example, I fire a query that returns to me 10 types of candies, (yummy!). I want to show these candies as options on the form. I want to use Radio Buttons. Now the number of candies are not fixed, it can be any number (less than 15-20). So I wish to dynamically create this 'Array of Radio Buttons' on the form.
