Generated MAPI Mail Going To Outlook Instead Of Default Mail Client
May 7, 2009I have a piece of code which sends email with an attachment from my application. The code uses MAPI to send the email. It opens up a new email message so the user can add to the email message, and then the user clicks send.The code works fine. However there is one small problem. The email that the code opens, is always in Microsoft Outlook. Sometimes the application's user has Outlook Express set up as the default client, but my application always opens the new email message in Microsoft Outlook. (Outlook 2003. In the one user's machine that has Outlook 2007, everything works fine and the email opens up in Outlook Express.)As I searched for a solution, I saw this problem posed many times in various places on the Internet, with no solution (or none that worked). I did try several suggestions which involved creating registry settings and registering some dlls.

Jul 25, 2009I have my setup and deployment project is set to make the mailto: links refer to my program. It works with Firefox no problem. Internet Explorer complains that "Could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed." The mailto link shows as being associated to my program in the windows default programs thing.

Feb 1, 2012In a new program I'm including a button so the user can send en email with feedback.
The problem: On Windows Vista & Windows 7, an error pops up with the following message:

I am receiving the same error. However, on Windows XP, both of these codes are working fine. Email client used (as default) is Outlook 2007.

Jun 29, 2009My website creates an email from an HTML template using MailDefinition and ending up with a System.Net.Mail.MailMessage object.
Usually, I just call the Net.Mail.SmtpClient.Send method and the email is sent.
Now I need to be able to open the created email in the clients default mail program and then they click their email programs send button to send it.

Oct 6, 2011I am trying to create a new MailAddress, the email is coming from Request Parameters, that is: Request.Params("fromEmail"). It is actually being sent from an android device through an http request.When I try to create a new MailAddress from this email, I get the error "The specified string is not in the form required for an e-mail address". When trying to create it directly, that it ma=new MailAddress("a@b.com") using the same coming string, it works, but creating it using ma=new MailAddress(Convert.ToString(Request.Params("fromEmail")) produces the error.

I would like to create something like the ADO DataReader but that works in a TCP Client/Server scenario.Basically, in the TCP Client, I want to be able to call a certain command in the TCP Server which will return a DataReader like object, which I can then iterate through such as:
while dr.Read from the client. In each loop, I would parse out the various fields as in a normal DataReader.The reason I want to do this is to gain the inherent efficiency of the DataReader object since it doesn't first load ALL of the data. To my understanding, the typical TCP Client/Server setup using streams, would first load all of the data on the server, then transport ALL of that data to the client for processing. I want to avoid that, and just stream the data as the client requests through the Read() command which means the connection will remain open to the server while the Read() command is being issued by the client, or until explicitly closed by the client.

Jun 5, 2011how to create Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2005 for a Client Server application? The problem I faced is that when I created Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2005 where the Crystal Report is displayed in the client application it does not get refreshed with data entered. It only displays data that was entered during the time of development. I think this is probably because the database path changes when deployed in a new environment while the Crystal report keeps referring to the database location at development time.

this works fine to trap out numbers from letters but the problem i am getting is when the program calls uppon LastName it is recording 0 and wanted to know if there is a way of getting past this ..... so basically i need a way to allow letter but not numbers and symbols and then dispay a pernolised error message but at the same time use Stream writer to save was the answer is in a .txt file.

From what I can tell, this should be configuring some kind of sending option. I can kind of work out what's going on, but I don't know how I should go about re-implementing it.It's looking like the place to be putting this stuff is now in the System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient.Credentials class, but the information in there doesn't seem to bear any resemblance to what I have here.I'm almost certain I'm making some obvious error, here, but I can't see it. Can someone tell me what I should be doing?
