DB/Reporting :: CrystalReports Redistribution - Viewer App That Takes A Command Line Parameter
Jul 7, 2009
I created a report viewer app that takes a command line parameter, the report filename, and opens the report. I also created a ODBC File DSN that I want to redistribute. However, currently, the DSN needs to reside in 'c:program filescommon filesodbcdata sources'. Is there a way for the report to look for the DSN in the application directory? Also, what components besides .NET 3.5 are required to redistribute the report and report viewer app?
I have beginner skills using VB (am using the Express edition to learn). I would like to know how to set up a conditional statement in a Windows Form (WF) app that would check if a specific command line has been passed by another separate app that launchesthe Windows Form app using command lines, and if not passed, then the Windows Form app would shut down (exit, close). So far, I can use:
For Each s As String In My.Application.CommandLineArgs If s <> "xyz" Then Me.Close()
Is there a way in vb.net to create a sub/function that will take as an argument some kind of pointer to another function, and allow this new sub/function to execute the passed function? What I have are 10-12 xml-rpc functions I am calling against a remote server. Each of these functions has different argument lists (one takes 1 string, another might take 3 strings and one int, etc). All of them return an object.
I want to pass parameter to a crystal report viewer. I added .rpt file to the report viewer, but I can't get the parameter field to bound the variable.
How can I pass parameter to that viewer?
I added crystal report file to the viewer, but in the report file contains 4 parameters. I tried to use CrystalReportViewer1 to get parameter function, but i can't find parameter function.
I also tried to find parameter field from properties there. How can i do it with VB.NET? I want to pass parameter from main page form to report viewer form.
First let me say that I am not sure whether or not this should go in this section or the API section, and if it needs to be moved I apologize. My issue is fairly straight forward, but for some reason I cannot get it to work.
I am trying to send a command to a command line and then submit the command. I have been trying without success to get this to work in v2008 Express and v2010 Express, Here is the code I am trying to us:
Private Declare Function FindWindow Lib "user32" Alias "FindWindowA" ( _ ByVal lpClassName As String, _ ByVal lpWindowName As String _
I have a web app and I have a report viewer in my app and it works fine in VS 2010. Once I publish and move it to my server I have issues. The report viewer is grayed out (please see the screen shot report_error.png). I am using Windows Server 2008 R2 and IIS 7.5. I am running it on integrated managed pipeline and the 4.0 framework. I have been digging for several hours on Handler Mappings and Config Files. I have added the Handle Mappings. According to all other forums this is the way to fix it, but it still doesn't work. Any suggestions?
I have written an application that uses the Crystal Report Viewer Control. (And yes I am 100% sure we are all using the same application, run file, and viewer) When some users run my program they get a GUI interface that asks for parameters. Other users get a web-like interface. What dll, ocx, or other item controls this? I would like to get all my users on the same type interface.
FormA contain a textbox for user to enter their name and a button. When the user click the button, it will show the FormB which contain the CrystalReportViewer. I would like to to display the name which the user enter in the textbox on FormA on the CyrstalReportViewer.
The question is, how do I pass the textbox value to the Crystal Report Viewer The secondary question is how I am going to display the value on the Crystal Report Viewer. For you information, I am using VB.net.
I am using a CheckedListBox that is populated with Filenames (full path, i.e. C:TestTest.jpg)When I have the files that I want in the CheckedListBox I wish to click a Start Button which will process the list one at a time using an exe program that runs on the Command Line. There are arguments that need to pass to the command line as well as the file location in order for the program to process.I currently have it working but the issue is the loop finishes quickly and it is left up to the CMD.exe to finish the process. What I would like is for the LOOP to wait until each file completes processing before passing the command for the next file in the CheckedListBox.There some reasons I wish for it to work this way.
1) I would like to have a button that can Pause/Restart the Loop.
2) I would like to have a button that can Stop the Loop so the whole process can end.
3) I would like to have the Loop remove each file one by one from the CheckedListBox after it has been processed.
4) I would like to display a Message once all the files have been processed.
5) And if it were possible I would like to report the status either by text or a progress bar showing where it is at in the process.
6) And the ability to add some error handling if possible.
Since the Loop finishes so quickly as it just passes the command to the command line using the & as a seperator it is the command line that is handling the rest of the process. Because of this there is not control over it in the GUI.The code I am using allows the Command Line text to display in the Form so it won't open up a seperate window to run CMD.exe. This is the desired affect as I would like everything to appear to run from within the Form itself.
I have developed an application that creates Excel and Word documents, hence, Interop.Word.dll and Interop.Excell.dl asre being included into the installation package.May I redistribute these dll's with my application package? And how does the Developers Licenses work?I live in SA and have heard that the redistribution rights may be different.
When i pass the parameter and run the report it works fine as i close the form it closes the form is there any way so that i should be able to close the crystal report viewer and pass the parameter again and should be able to view report again.
I am struggling to pass a parameter to a VB.NET application via a Windows scheduled task. It works perfectly in Visual Studio (passing a command line arguement via project properties). If I am calling a VB6 application, then I will supply the following parameters and it works:
Run: c:progra~1TestTest.exe TestParameter Start In: c:progra~1Test However, if I supply the same parameters in VB.NET, the program throws an exception when it tries to create an instance of a class in the Form.Load: System.NullReferenceException cannot create instance of object.
I have also tried the following:Run: c:program filesTestTest.exe TestParameter Start In: "c:program filesTest" This time the status of the scheduled task changes to "cannot start".What is the correct way to specify command line parameters in a scheduled task for a VB.NET program?UPDATE I found the solution on this web page:[URL}.. I am still confused as to why the program would not create an instance of an object when I used the 8 bit paths (i.e. progra~1)
An in-line table valued function in SSMS takes about 6 seconds to return 11088 records. The same function in VB .Net 4.0 using TableAdapters.InputTableAdapter.GetData (Created with data set designer) takes about 15 minutes complete. Both are executed from the same workstation. Why does this discrepancy exist?
I have two tables and the form contains a text box so I need to add rows of Table 1 to Table 2 and taking the value in the text box for each row is added to Table 2.
i have insert syntax but it is need to modification:
INSERT INTO table2(column3,column4) SELECT column1 + @parameter FROM table1

I have a datagridview with a checkbox column. I'm trying to update data in the dataset but I keep getting this error: Conversion from string "ExtendDate" to type 'Integer' is not valid. The parameter type for ExtendDate is boolean but i'm not sure if that's the correct type.
Code: Dim Col11 As New DataGridViewCheckBoxColumn With Col11 .DataPropertyName = "ExtendDate" .HeaderText = "Extend Date"
