I am constructing a collection of objects, and need to use inheritance on a base class - I have been trying for hours in various ways and can't get this to work whatsoever - the error is always "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." The idea in the example below is that an object is instantiated, and within that lies a collection of Students when I try to access the oDemo.Students(0).Name property the error is raised. Otherwise the object appears to have instantiated OK.Here is the code being used to instantiate and access the class (from ASP.NET).

These web pages, once opened, work fine to manipulate data as intended, but they keep generating annoying warning messages.There are two messages that pop up every time the web page is accessed. Before the page opens the first message that pops up states: "This website uses a data provider that may be unsafe. If you trust the website, click OK, otherwise click cancel."After pressing OK on the first, the second message pops up and states:"This website is using your identity to access a data source. If you trust the website, click OK, otherwise click cancel."After pressing OK on both messages the page functionality works just fine.I've tried adding password protection to the database and even signing the project with a digital certificate, but I still get the warning messages. This would be fine except there are multiple end users for the access pages and I am trying to avoid the additional confusion this will create, especially since IT has restricted many of the users from editing the internet options.
View 1 RepliesI am writing a simple app using Visual Basic 2008 Pro, and SQL Server 2005 as the backend. However, I copied the database file (.mdf) from another computer onto my laptop. I added it as a Data Source by having the Data Provider as "Microsoft SQL Server Database File" and have it attach the file to the local SQL server. However, it isn't set to copy the database to the output directory every time the program is run for debugging, as I thought that would save time.
Now however, the data update to the database are very wierd. I run the program, add some new data, save it, and it returns the new primary keys properly (that is, it turns from -1 to 4 or 5 or whatever, indicating that the data has been saved). When I close and re-run the application to check that the data has indeed been saved, it reflects the changes and shows me the new data. However, when the program is run again after some time, the changes I made are gone. I'm assuming this is due to some wierd way in which VB is updating the database that temporarily updates its cached or copied database, but doesn't actually change the real database. How do I fix this? I had previously done the same project on another computer, except there the data source was directly the local SQL server, and I had created the database directly on the server through Visual Studio itself, and I didn't face those problems then. Is there any way to manually attach the SQL Server database file (.mdf) to the local SQL server instance permanently, and change the app to use the attached database instead?
Whenever I setup a database connection, and then drag items from it onto my forms, I get errors! 102 of them to be precise.All I've done is create a data connection, add the datasource, created relationships and then dragged items ome. I've been working with databases for a while and have never had this problem when taking these steps.

frmB.Show()
From btn2 (frmB is already open) I bring frmB to the front from behind frmA:
FormB.Show()
FormB.BringToFront().
No problem so far. Now I need to pass an arg to frmB. This is where I am having the problem.
from btn1 (in frmA) I do this:

then from btn2 -- this is where I have the problem

I tried placing myArg in FormB.Show(myArg) but that did not fix the problem. What is the correct way to pass myArg to FormB (frmB) in this scenario? Do I need to share FormB or frmB? How do I do this? "frmB" is frmA level variable.

EDIT: Never mind, seems like it was a stupid naming scheme and VS was adding a bindingsource with a different name than I wanted.
