The problem is that I get this message : Object reference not set to an instance of an object. I don't understand why, because I was using the same code before just for different database and it was ok.

I have 10 IP address I need saved so that when the programed is closed the user doesn't have to re type them all back in. To get around this I created a database that would store the values. My table contains one Field "host" and then has all 10 IP addresses listed below that.I'm trying to figure out how to make a text box on my form look at a certain row in a SQLServer 2005 table.
For example:
txtIP1.text = Row 1 of SQL table
txtIP2.text = Row 2 of SQL table
Here is what I have in my Form load Event. This works, but again I need the second rows value to show in the second txtbox.

What is the easiest method of storing data and retrieving it using VB? FYI, I have not used Access before. It will be a movie database that stores title genre, etc. I thought about using a text file but i think thats crude and ran across this site:

I like the PHP way of doing things but, it seems I am stuck with using a Collection of Object's to store/retrieve the data I need. I have my Collection loaded with my Objects's and the code to iterate through the collection, my problem is I am unable to retrieve the "key" as it would be called in PHP (I believe in this case it is actually the name of the object).
Consider the following example:
Dim xDoc As XPathDocument = New XPathDocument(fName)
Dim xNav As XPathNavigator = xDoc.CreateNavigator()
Dim sender As XPathNodeIterator
[CODE]...
As you can see, I am navigating an XML document, and creating an Object with some Key/Value pairs. The Object would look something like this if it were in JSON:
{"name":"John Smith","address1":"123 Anywhere St.","city":"This City","state":"FL"}
When I iterate though the Collection I can only get the value of the object, but I need the Key, in this instance I want "name","address1","city","state" to be stored in a variable for each iteration.

I have been having trouble finding a good way to do this. Basically what I need to do is take a query from a SQL Server Database and place it into a DataTable (or an array) for manipulation. I've got the connection and everything working, but none of the methods I've tried so far seem to work very well.I need it to compare data with an uploaded CSV file and post on a website.

If I'm extending OnCreated for a LINQ to SQL table object, is it possible to get a reference to the data context to which the table belongs? For example, if I add a property to the data context:
Partial Class MyDataContext
Private _myValue As String
Public ReadOnly Property MyValue As String
[Code].....
I don't want the property on the data context to be Shared, because it could be different per instance. I've been pouring over the designer code to figure out where the reference might be, but no luck yet.

I am opening frmB (variable for FormB - the actual form) from frmA. From btn1 I open frmB like this:
frmB = New FormB()
frmB.Show()
From btn2 (frmB is already open) I bring frmB to the front from behind frmA:
FormB.Show()
FormB.BringToFront().
No problem so far. Now I need to pass an arg to frmB. This is where I am having the problem.
from btn1 (in frmA) I do this:
frmB = New FormB(myArg) '--pass myArg to constructor of FormB -- no problem here
frmB.Show()
then from btn2 -- this is where I have the problem
FormB.Show()
FormB.BringToFront()
I tried placing myArg in FormB.Show(myArg) but that did not fix the problem. What is the correct way to pass myArg to FormB (frmB) in this scenario? Do I need to share FormB or frmB? How do I do this? "frmB" is frmA level variable.
