DB/Reporting :: Up-sizing Access 2003 To SQL Express?
Sep 19, 2009
I have an access 2003 database. I have VS2008 installed. I had SQL 2008 installed and with the problems upsizing I dumped SQL2008 and installed SQL2005. I would like to upsize the Access database to an SQL Express database. When I open Access 2007 and open database tool to do an upsize, I get ODBC-Failed.
i can't link access 2003 to vb6. its say's"unrecognized database format" explain to me in a low english.do i have to create module?i have to create conn.txt? i just have to add source code in a form to link the access 2003??
I am using Visual Basic 2005 and am trying to get my database in Access 2003 to connect with it. I have mannaged to connect my databse, but I don't know how or what commands are needed to load my database.
I converted one of my databases from 2003 to 2007 and am getting the following error 13 type mismatch with 2007 (did not happen with 2003 version) with the following code:
Thanks for your help!
HTML Code: Private Sub PageFooterSection_Print(Cancel As Integer, PrintCount As Integer)
Dim strMessage As String
Dim db As Database Dim rs As Recordset
Set db = CurrentDb [B]Set rs = db.OpenRecordset("TblFooter")[/B] ERROR HIGHLIGHTS THIS LINE
I have a combo box and a subform that uses continuous forms format. When Combo box changes, the subform POINTER points to the correct record. How could I at the same time highlight (change color) of all the fields in the selected record?
I'm am trying to determine the total number of fields under a particular heading given that the other Heading's total number of fields are > or < than the heading in question. The query, shown first in the attached code, works well if there is one column in one database table, however it does not work well when there are a number of columns with a different number of fields respectively. The CategoriesID encompasses the entire tables contents.I devised a function to determine the total number of fields within a particular column and then attempted to incorporate this, without success, into the second query, shown in the code.
Private Sub GetRandomHeadingFields() Dim varNumberHigh As Integer varNumberHigh = TotalNumberofHeadingFields()
My intention is to load my data from access database through datagridview but it keeps telling me the same error. This is the exact error message I've gotten.. it threw an oledb Exception stating: Could not open table 'MSysAccounts' in the workgroup information file. I've been browsing and viewing different resources but I still do not find a solution to view my data in datagridview. Few things I've tried:
1. I originally uses Ms Access 2007 to load, but it does not seem to work well, hence i converted it into Ms Access 2003 format. Same error displayed.
2. Working around with the workgroup in Access 2003, creating new workgroup which creates System.mdw file and I replaced it in:
For years now I have been using access as my database. But with the SQL server Express version around I have been wondering if it is not better to use this instead of access. Note: I only develop applications for small businesses and a limited set of users. So what do you guys prefer and recommend?
I want to create a table (called "Customers") in a Microsoft Access database and then insert/delete records into the table and update the table. The table shall have 3 columns:
ID Customer Name Customer Address
I know i need to make the "ID" column as an autonumber and a primary key, as i need to insert and delete records and update the table. I am using the Visual basic 2008 Express edition and quite familar with the OledBcommand.
Are the codes generated from Visual Studio.net 2003 Visual Basic fully convertible and compatible ti Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition ? I tried converting a project which was develop from VS 2003 for VB 2005 but after the process there are some commands which is not supported in the latter version. The deployment module in this project is also not recognised in VB 2005.
I have multiple copies of Access dbs running varous projects on diverse workstation all over the country. Some new additions to the team have only Access 2007. Is there a way that I can use both versions without having to re-do any VBA, macros, scripts, etc.?
I have created an excel 2003 file using visual basic 2010 express edition with access as backend. The excel is created using a select into query. I would need help to protect this excel file once it generated using visual basic 2010 so that the users cannot edit the same.
I have a program in VB.NET 2005. At some point I have to open an Access2003-Application for getting data in it. I do that by pretending my program is a human user and let it do all the work in Access as a human user would do. Filling Fields, pressing buttons etc. I use the Primary Interop Assemblies for that. So far so good. That code is in use for over half a year now. In the last week I got Office 2007 installed on my machine. Of course I tested the installed version of my program if everthing still works. Every test was succesfull. But if I do the same tests in Visual Studio it always crashes.
All I get is this Errormessage: {"Das COM-Objekt des Typs "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.FormClass" kann nicht in den Schnittstellentyp "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access._Form3" umgewandelt werden. Dieser Vorgang konnte nicht durchgefhrt werden, da der QueryInterface-Aufruf an die COM-Komponente fr die Schnittstelle mit der IID "{66B22FB4-F70E-4F03-A00A-F76E9ADBBF10}" aufgrund des folgenden Fehlers nicht durchgefhrt werden konnte: Schnittstelle nicht untersttzt (Ausnahme von HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE))."}
For all who can't read german:
"Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.FormClass" can't be converted in to "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access._Form3" ... Interface is not supported.
Code I use:
Dim access As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.Application = Nothing . . . access = New Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.Application()
[CODE]...
The Error occurs when I try to access any property of "access.Forms("frmTest")"
I am finally ready to move off MSACCESS to SQL. All the advice I've received says to go to SQL Express. I am running VS2008 using VB. I have a lot of experience with MS access. My apps are web based and communicate via web services with the clients. All I need is a good starting point, I want to convert my tables to SQL Express. All documentation I've found has been rather disjointed.
I started coding my first "real" stand-alone desktop application in VB 2008 Express. I was led into believing that using SQL Express Compact Edition was the thing to use for my database since it would reside on each PC (laptops) that I installed the program on. I created all my tables and about 6 forms and all was going well until I came to the point where I need to display a grid showing data from multiple tables using what i think is supposed to be a view. Now the problem is that CE doesnt allow views. Here are my questions:
1. Can I convert my CE database file into an SQL Server Express file? 2. Do I have to re-write all my forms that are using the database? I am planning on creating my SQL Server Express database with the same table names and the same field names, data types, etc.
I use Ms VB 2008 express edition with SQL server express. I want to know what is the reference to be added to make a connection the SQL express database?
I'm searching a free reporting tool for vb.net express. I only want pdf export and the basic functionality of a reporting tool (grouping, functions, lines, etc). I use postgresql server.What free tools are there out?
I downloaded the free Visual Basic Express Edition to create an application that connects to a Mysql database. I searched for the connection string and found a bunch of different ones.I have no idea which one should I use with Visual Basic Express Edition. I have been using PHP, javascript and mysql for a couple of years, but I have never used Visual Basic and have everything to learn.
I'm at an absolute loss here, I've read so many different things.I just want to add new records to a database I created using SQL Server 2008 with SQL statements in Visual Basic Express 2008. But I can't even connect/get it to recognise the database I created.The database name is 'database.mdf' and is situated in the MSSQL/DATA folder. So far I've read I need to use this code;
What is the best way to set the default value for 'bit' or boolean data types in SQL express? I am using the data base explorer in VB Express 2008 and the only way I seem to be able to do it is by using ((0)) for false and ((1)) for true.
I have just installed VB.NET 2003 and I am trying to manage some databases using SQL Server 2005 Express.When I try accessing the database via the data connection tab, I get the following message.
Quote: You have connected to a version of SQL Server later than SQL Server 2000. The version of Visual Studio or Access that you are using was released before the version of SQL Server to which you are connected. For this reason, you might encounter problems.
Please check with Microsoft to see if there is a service pack that you should apply to Visual Studio or Office in order to get support for the version of SQL Server to which you are connected.You can continue but any new object types might not be enumerated, and it will not be possible to save any objects or database diagrams that you create using the Visual Database Tools.I can not add tables or manage data fields. Does anyone know how to get the patch referred to in the message above? I can not find it via google or this forum.
i have done some research on converting an existing app to VB.NET, but have not found what I am looking for.
My existing app is currently created in Access 2003 VBA using access forms, modules, tables queries etc., and would like to convert all of it to VB.NET.
What would be the best method or tools to use to accomplish this? The VB.NET app would be developed from VisualStudio 2005..
I'm doing database development in Access 2003, and the Visual Basic portion of it is acting up. It seems to be "refreshing" itself constantly. Two very frustrating problems are occurring because of this: 1) Intellisense for properties and such pops up but immediately disappears and turns red and 2) it's automatically checking the syntax of lines before I can finish typing them.
The problem seems to be intermittant. Some forms in the database operate fine while others immediately turn the line red two seconds after I start typing. I am having this problem on both of the computers that I use on a regular basis.
i have a database in access 2003 and i submit a query to a specific table. The fields of this specific table (STOCK_PRICES1) :
DATE --> type date (d:M:yyyy) CODE --> type text OPEN --> type single HIGH --> type single LOW --> type single
[Code]...
i receive an error. Why? Conflicts between access 2003 and vb.net 2010? SQL Server is better?And another question. My Regional settings regarding the date is d/M/yyyy but in my vb.net example, the @date1, @date2 parameters accept M/d/yyyy dates. Is there a way to define into the parameters the d/M/yyyy specification?
The limit of an access database. Because I only know of manipulating access 2003 database with vb.net. And were going to make an information system for a small hospital for our project. Is ms access still usable for a hospital with over 2000 patients per year? some database if the ms access that I'm using no longer fits for our project.
