I am saving some operational log information into a XML file. At any time the user can bring up a datatable to display the information. I don't want them to see the 'HOURLY' log. I can't seem to filter this out. Also I need to populate a list box with all the unique events for filtering.

I'm using a DataGridView object that i populate using a series of datagridview.columns.add("xxx") and DataGridView1.Rows.Insert(0,"xxx")
I would like to create a text box that would filter the datagridview accordingly for a given column.
example: i put 'jeremy' in my text box and it returns only the row(s) with jeremy in the 'name' column.

This is my first program and have absolutely no training in programming Visual Basic Studio 2008 so forgive me if I have missed something obvious.Form3 contains a StartDate(Date Time Picker1)and EndDate(Date Time Picker2) with a button1 which launches a Form4 containing a report( Microsoft Report Veiwer)
I have been able to generate a report but it gives me everything in the database instead of date range selected.I have tried generating queries,stored procedures and writing additional code but nothing seems to work.( Though I may of but them in the wrong place)
I work with an access mdb When I run the program with the following code it gives an error "Nullreference exception unhandled" "the object... is not for an example of an object..." (very free translated but you will surely recognize this)

I need some advice I have a bound datagrid and a bound combobox lookup on a form. What i want to do is filter the combo box so it only shows the items left that are not in the datagrid already.
I have managed to achieve this already.But when the program runs, and there are items displayed in the data grid the combo box items are now filtered.The program crashes as it can't display the combobox item as i have filtered them out. The program runs fine if the datagrid is empty (IE combobox items not filtered). But as soon as there is a record in the datagrid when i save the database and refresh the combo box the program falls over is the items it is looking for is not in the combo box items list.
What would a work around be. I have thought of a separate combo box that is hidden and use the datagrid combobox events to show it in the correct position.Just to be tedious the displayed item is not the stored item value

I am tryin to filter out the datagrid, so when i click on one of the names , it will only show those records. Right now when i click on one of the names, it displays that record, but im still seeing the rest of the records from the other names. i know it something like

Now as you can see from my code i don't understand how the index can be wrong as the datagrid is binded to a datatable and the indexes would be the same, and i have the current row in the datatable and look for the index in the datatable and stored it as a Integer!
I have taken up a task where end user should be able to enter information via vb interface into microsoft Access database. This then will be displayed onto the Datagrid via VB interface. The program needs to be setup in a way that first entry by end user will flash upon 3 hours.

Values defined within database shows in this datagrid.The Datagrid works fine and I can insert values into the database fine as well however, I am not sure how to setup a timer so that when 3 hours are up the first entry into the database(shown on datagrid) starts flashing.This is needed so that the end user gets an alert when the time is up so that he can take the trays out of the oven.
In Summary: Can we really setup a timmer so that a value in the datagrid will flash at a particular time.Below is the image of an application. Here you can see the data on the datagrid however I want it to flash after 3 hours. So the first entry will flash after 3 hours following the 2nd entry.

I have a datagrid that I am populating from an Access 2000 query in Visual Basic 2008.
This code works fine:

The query works fine, except that I want to change the alignment for one of the columns. I tried to add this line before the "End With":
.Columns(4).DefaultCellStyle.Alignment.MiddleCenter()
Which causes the error:
"Access of shared member, constant member, enum member or nested type through an instance; qualifying expression will not be evaluated."
And this error:
"Expression is not a method."

The problem is, all of the data gets displayed correctly except for the ip address. It gets truncated to "134.1892". How can I change the formatting for the "Local Address" and "Remote Address" columns.
