In one of my forms witch I imported from VB2008 there are all properties saved in the *.resx file. One Property, of the Type System.Windows.Forms.Keys, can contain the Value 'Ctrl+F1' witch compiles fine in VB2008, but not in VB2010. To reproduce, simply add the following to any resx file:
<data name="cmdFenster.ShortcutKeys" type="System.Windows.Forms.Keys, System.Windows.Forms">
<value>Ctrl+F1</value>
</data>
It will compile fine with VB2008, but not with VB2010. Notice: The VB2010 also generates this Code in the resx file

I have compiled a successfull application in VB 2010 using .NET 4.0. Because my workplace only supports .NET 3.5 i compiled the app under that framework, and I get the following error:
Error1Could not load file or assembly 'System.Drawing, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. Line 123, position 5.C:\\My Project\Resources.resx123
Now under that line I have the following code:
<data name="Presentation1" type="System.Resources.ResXFileRef, System.Windows.Forms">
<value>..\Resources\Presentation1.jpg;System.Drawing.Bitmap, System.Drawing, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a</value></data>
I didn't write this code, i believe that it was automatically created when designing my app. It looks like something might not be supported, but am not sure.

I am using 8 different vb projects in one solution, beside this I am also using one 3rd party control ion all the projects, while compiling the application it takes around 5 minutes to build the project, While building the application I have observe that it uses lc.exe file which is used for "Reads text files that contain licensing information and produces a .licenses file that can be embedded in a common language run time executable." at this point it takes too much time.

My app bundles a set of VBScripts (UTF8 text files) into a VB.NET assembly. I used to embed the script code into the classes as String members, but this is proving to be a poor design. I want to include them as resources instead. What's the best way to add resources to the CompilerParams?
What I've got so far (excluding all the error checks):
Dim comParams As New CompilerParameters()
comParams.OutputAssembly = DLL_Path
comParams.ReferencedAssemblies.Add("System.dll")
[Code]....
The CompilerParameters contain fields for EmbeddedResources and LinkedResources, but from the examples I found so far these seem to pertain only to framework resources???

I've been using this article [URL]to add into my code the ability to compile code a user enters into a text box. I was wondering if anyone knows a way that I can pass in a variable that exists in yhe program that I have written. So the idea is in my program I have a variable, let's say a filename, that is used. The user of my program is writing their own program in a text box. When I compile the program they have written I want to be able to pass the filename from my program into theirs.

I am trying to compile my Visual Basic .NET project named Myproject.sln via command line commands.
I need to build and then to compile that solution.I read all questions here how to do it but I couldn't make it work.
My Visual Basic .NET compiler is called vbc.exe. Any idea how I do that thing?
I am using Visual Studio 2005.I have already read Microsoft's tutorial, "Building from the Command Line (Visual Basic)".

I just tried to convert some of my Projects from VB2008 to VB2010 RC, but got compiling Errors while compiling the resX Files. Seems like the reason are ImageLists/Icons, since if I remove them the files compile fine. I already tried to edit the Forms witch are showing the Errors with the Designer. The Designer changed the Content of the resX file lightly, but the error was still present Here the Error(German Version): 'FormsfrmUserTmpBUTable.resx : error RG0000: Der Objektverweis wurde nicht auf eine Objektinstanz festgelegt.' I recall a similar error in the Beta, but since I can't find it anymore, I guessed it was fixed.

I have a simple Win App VB project with a single form in it. I also have an Active X component which I am adding onto this form. This component is made in C++. On building the VB project i get the message "COM Reference 'CPPLib' is the interop assembly for ActiveX control 'AxCPPLib' but was marked to be linked by the compiler with the /link flag. This COM reference will be treated as a reference and will not be linked." but it compiles successfully. When i try rebuilding it or opening the view designer of the form VS2010 crashes. The project is locally creating two dlls namely "Interop.CPPLib.dll" & "AxInterop.CPPLib.dll". I have made the Embed interop types False for both these references.

This is how I update a table using DataAdapter and DataSet in VB using SQL Server[code]...
I know that the Fill method does not make sense in case of an INSERT statement, but I am new to this technology and the above statement does the job and updates the table w/o problems. My question is this: If there was an error (say a duplicate key error) how would I know this in my application? Should I be putting the above code in a try/catch block?
Also, if there is a "proper" method for running INSERT statements using a DataAdapter/DataSet combination that does not use the Fill method, please indicate that as well.

I am experiencing something very bizarre when I execute the Fill method of my adapter. I've been running this query for months and all of the sudden this is happening after I installed SP1 for Visual Studio 2008. For some reason several DataRows in 2 of the 3 tables within my DataSet have errors in them when I view them in debug mode using the DataSet Visualizer. Here is a picture of what I'm talking about
It does this to random rows. If I execute the Fill method the first time, rows (5-10) will have these errors. If I execute the Fill method again rows 12-23 are affected and so on. I have no idea what is happening here.
This is effected my DataGridViews, because they don't display any rows, because of the erros. I should also note that when I run the lines of code below in the Immediate Window it says the DataSet doesn't have errors.
?Me.ds.Tables("Current").HasErrors
False
?Me.ds.HasErrors
False

I have a VB .dll from a previous developer that I need to modify. So I de-compiled it with no errors and then exported the code. I tried to compile the project and get two syntax errors:
New SqlDataAdapter(query, Me.connection).Fill(dataTable)
New SqlDataAdapter(DirectCast(command, SqlCommand)).Fill(dataTable)
The error message just says syntax error, nothing else.

A need came up for me to work on a program that resides on a web server. I can't pull up the code and I get these errors:
[Code]....
In addition, you must run Visual Studio in the context of an administrator account. I have never worked on anything like this before and for right now I would just like to look at the code. I Googled and found this: You can enable these features in the Add/Remove Programs control panel. In there you wiull find a link off on the left labeled something like 'Turn Windows features on or off'. Click that and you'll get a UI for managing the IIS features that are installed.
I looked there and don't have a clue what I should check. I'm on Windows 7. What should my approach be? I don't want to just clicking things in the IIS configuration console. The attachment is what I see.

I'm not sure what happened. I saved my project last night and everything was in working order. I opened it this morning and it's not recognizing a lot of the System methods and functions
MsgBox
Format
FormatCurrency
InputBox
Even the constants like vbTab and vbCrLf aren't appearing. Any suggestions on this? I'm running VS2008 Express Edition.

I have a project that as a standalone runs perfectly. There are a number of routines, forms etc. that I want to incorporate into another solution that I have created. Each time I try, it will load in the new project, but if I try to access anything by clicking on it, one of two things happens, either VS crashes and then restarts OR I get 100+ designer errors thrown.

I'm just starting to explore VB.NET datasets but I'm stuck on a (probably) trivial problem.I have declared a dataset (let's call it 'Fred') as public in a VARs module.In the main form in a sub routine called at the start of the project I connect to an Excel spreadsheet and read it into the 'Fred' dataset into one table (called 'Table')I then bind the dataset table to a datagridview and I can see the spreadsheet. Which is very nice :-)
Having loaded the dataset I want to be able to get some values so I created a button and used the following [code]....

This must be a common problem, so perhaps someone can point me to a Knowledgebase article. I've got a form that works fine in a completed project. It's a windows form that uses a dataset and tableadapter (which show in the tray below). Now I'm developing a different project that requires a very similar form. I want to "copy" that form into my new project, make some minor changes, and then save it under a new name.

I have a MDI app in development that uses parent-child datasets. My problem is when I update a dataset on one child form I then need to update the dataset on another child form. I know the dataset update has been commited to the source as when I reload the second child form the changed values are displayed.
[Code]...
Main.CarTableAdapter.Fill(Me.RCCarV2DataSet.Car)Unfortunately when I close the form that executes the above code the "Main" form which is still open should display the new values in the bound controls but it doesn't. The only way I can get the changes to display is to close and reload the "Main" form.

I have a .net application that uses customerrors web.config module to display meaningful messages for errors. It works without any issues for 500 errors/exceptions caused by non-ajax and ajax components (updatepanel). However, in a scenario where updatepanel's asynchronous request times out, there is no error raised at all. I was able to see the timeout in firebug and come up with a solution that would at least display the error message as an alert and then redirect the user to the 500 error page using javascript but it's not quite doing what the rest of the application does in case of an unhandled errors like these. I basically just want everything to go through "LogEvent" mechanism so based on the severity of the error, it does the necessary work.This 500 error page doesn't have anything in the Server.GetLastError() for these timeout scenarios. Is this an expected behaviour? Can it be changed so I do have access to these timeouts in Server.GetLastError() OR maybe just run this error through "LogEvent" mechanism? Is there a better/more graceful way to handle this issue?
Below is my code to give you an idea, not exactly what I have in my application but pretty close.
Web.Config
<customErrors mode="On" defaultRedirect="~/Errors/ErrorUnknown.aspx" redirectMode="ResponseRewrite">
<error statusCode="500" redirect="~/Errors/Error500.aspx" />
</customErrors>
