How do i compile my vb project?I tried to compile , but i'm not sure which setting i should put and what i shouldnt.i did tried publishing, but i'm not sure which path of location to be publish and i put c:/ as the path and i can't load the database. The location of my db path in the string.[code]
In one of my forms witch I imported from VB2008 there are all properties saved in the *.resx file. One Property, of the Type System.Windows.Forms.Keys, can contain the Value 'Ctrl+F1' witch compiles fine in VB2008, but not in VB2010. To reproduce, simply add the following to any resx file:
I am using 8 different vb projects in one solution, beside this I am also using one 3rd party control ion all the projects, while compiling the application it takes around 5 minutes to build the project, While building the application I have observe that it uses lc.exe file which is used for "Reads text files that contain licensing information and produces a .licenses file that can be embedded in a common language run time executable." at this point it takes too much time.
when i compile the project and run it get the error Project Project has encountered a problem and needs to close. If you were in the middle of somthing, the information you were working on might be lost[ Close ]
My app bundles a set of VBScripts (UTF8 text files) into a VB.NET assembly. I used to embed the script code into the classes as String members, but this is proving to be a poor design. I want to include them as resources instead. What's the best way to add resources to the CompilerParams?
What I've got so far (excluding all the error checks):
Dim comParams As New CompilerParameters() comParams.OutputAssembly = DLL_Path comParams.ReferencedAssemblies.Add("System.dll")
[Code]....
The CompilerParameters contain fields for EmbeddedResources and LinkedResources, but from the examples I found so far these seem to pertain only to framework resources???
I have a problem with one of my projects that has only just started occuring this morning.I am using VS 2010.I get errors on every form that has a VS generated dataset, similar to;
me.<dataset> = new <namespace>.<dataset>() and with events <dataset> as <namespace>.<tableadapters>.<tableadapter>
I've been using this article [URL]to add into my code the ability to compile code a user enters into a text box. I was wondering if anyone knows a way that I can pass in a variable that exists in yhe program that I have written. So the idea is in my program I have a variable, let's say a filename, that is used. The user of my program is writing their own program in a text box. When I compile the program they have written I want to be able to pass the filename from my program into theirs.
I just tried to convert some of my Projects from VB2008 to VB2010 RC, but got compiling Errors while compiling the resX Files. Seems like the reason are ImageLists/Icons, since if I remove them the files compile fine. I already tried to edit the Forms witch are showing the Errors with the Designer. The Designer changed the Content of the resX file lightly, but the error was still present Here the Error(German Version): 'FormsfrmUserTmpBUTable.resx : error RG0000: Der Objektverweis wurde nicht auf eine Objektinstanz festgelegt.' I recall a similar error in the Beta, but since I can't find it anymore, I guessed it was fixed.
I have a simple Win App VB project with a single form in it. I also have an Active X component which I am adding onto this form. This component is made in C++. On building the VB project i get the message "COM Reference 'CPPLib' is the interop assembly for ActiveX control 'AxCPPLib' but was marked to be linked by the compiler with the /link flag. This COM reference will be treated as a reference and will not be linked." but it compiles successfully. When i try rebuilding it or opening the view designer of the form VS2010 crashes. The project is locally creating two dlls namely "Interop.CPPLib.dll" & "AxInterop.CPPLib.dll". I have made the Embed interop types False for both these references.
I keep getting this error when I try and use a MS Access database in my application:
The 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0' provider is not registered on the local machine.
After Google'ing the error for a while I came to see that this is a problem when running the application in 64-bit mode. If I was to compile the app in 32-bit it would work, so I went to try and find out how to do it. I got as far as the advanced compiling options in my projects settings page, but then I also read that I can't even set the CPU type in Visual Basic 2008 Express.
is this true? Is there no way I can set my project to run in 32-bit mode? The thing is, I did a similar thing with a database a few months ago and this worked, and I don't remember in the slightest what I did.
EDIT: After taking a look at my old projects compiling options, it is indeed set for Active (x86) Platform, but this option is not showing up in my new project. Weird.
EDIT 2: Here's a screenshot. Top one is the old project with the 32-bit running option and the bottom is the new one without those options.
I want to make a POS System but my problem is can I compile the database so that when I create an installer for the system and install it in other PCs, they won't require MS SQL Server(just the .NET framework) to be installed. Is that possible?.. or I have Install MS SQL Server for every PC?
I am compiling a VB Project in VS2005 with SP1. This is the error that I am getting when I build this project.
12>C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727Microsoft.Common.targets(802,9): error MSB3108: Error executing the ResolveNonMSBuildProjectOutput task. An error occurred while parsing EntityName. Line 1, position 115.Microsoft.Common.targets is a file present in WINDOWS folder and used internally by VS2005 while building the projects. I am not able to get any clue why this error has come.
I have a project that I have created, it something like a contact database. It is complete with its own sql server database, and controls and forms.I kinda of understand that I can include this project into another project. This is the tricky part,Can I include my contact project into another project and add more items to the database and forms in a new project? What I'm after is like using classes. My contact database would be like the base class, and the new project would be adding more features to that project.
The program is currently trying to pull information from three different database tables and compiling the information onto one screen, to do this i am using three different connections and a function to handle the data at each stage. The issue is as my code hits PageLoadStage of "2" and runs the QueryDatabase() Function i am encountering an error of: "OleDB exception unhandled: No value given for one or more of the required parameters." This occurs on line 15 of the first code snippet. Can anyone explain this and/or identify any code issues if that is the cause.
I have access to a database table that has been added as a datasource in project (A). Is there any way to refer to this database table from project (B) WITHOUT adding it to project (B)'s datasource?
Friends I have Developed my Data base Project on vb6, using adodc and datagrid using ms access database file, it was working nice in vb6, I also put Search box there and used adodc1.recordsource="select * from table" sql query.
later i needed to convert it in vb.net I converted it, every thing is working fine, but one problem appears, an adodc's Recordsource query for searching records is not working, it only works if there is data in dataset (Datagrid),suppose once i pressed search button to search record and if no record found then dataset / datagrid becomes empty, now i wanted to search an other record with other name, but this time it does not work and following error appears Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted. Requested operation requires a current record.
I'm trying to compile old Visual Basic dll code on XP, and it gives me error message "Error in loading DLL". I don't know exacty which dll is it, but the project references external dll created in visual studio 2008.
I am using VB .NET 2010 express, thought I don't know how much that matters. I was wanted to create an MSI installation of a bunch of EXE patches. How can I do this?
I already have a program made that downloads all the patches and places them in a folder. I just need something to takes all those and make them into 1 .msi file.
I got an app, which receives data via a R232 port, convert it to a string and on the other side I got a database, where the strings are saved. How can I find a way to compare the string with all strings in one database column and get back the another stringform the same row in this database. I never programmed a database
I have a radio button control on a web form. The members of my ListItem collection are assigned the following.
Text No Value 0
Text Yes Value 1
So what I need to do, is to readd a varchar value from my database and if the column value returned equals 'Yes' then I need to select the radio button that has the assigned value of 1. Otherwise if the value read from the database is 'No', then I need to select the radio button assigned a value of 0
So how can I set the value for my radio button? I experimented and could not figure it out. The 'Yes' or 'No' value is stored in my database in the field ds.Tables("employee").Rows(0).Item("answer")
So I tried something like this which is not correct:
I have an application that we wrote here at work that uses the SharpSVN wrapper for SVN. It has served us well of the past few years. However, we have started bringing in 64-bit systems and our application cannot seem to access the SharpSVN dll on these systems. I have downloaded the 64-bit version of the SharpSVN dll and I am wondering what to do next. I cannot stop my 32-bit users from using the application, so I need to be able to compile for both platforms. Luckily, with this application, we split different layers of the ntier stack into separate projects within the solution so my business layer that utilizes the SharpSVN dll is on its own.How would I go about compiling both a 32-bit and 64-bit version of my application without having to maintain two copies of the project?
I have a 3rd party dll, and I can't have it referenced while compiling for 64 bit. Is there a way around this? I'm guessing it is because the dll is a 32 bit one, but I'm not sure about that.
How can i add a database to my vb project? I know it's a STOOOOOPID question, but using the data source configuration manager the computer gets an unexpected error.
I am trying to add a MS Access database to visual studio 2005.
i think SQL came bundled with my vb.net 2008 express download (it is on my desktop). I have always used text files to store data, what is the advantage of SQL over text/csv files? I would think you would want to avoid SQL becuase 1.) the user has to have SQL installed to run the application 2.) It is slower. Wouldnt you want to avoid using sql if possible>
For reasons that are beyond my control, I have three Projects. Projects A and B reference project C. Project A references project B so that it can open a large form in project B. I now need to open that large form from project C, but VB won't allow me to add a reference from C to B because that would create a circular dependency. I found a way around it, though. I created a Timer in A, and when I opened C from A, I passed in that timer. When the user performs a certain action, I enable the Timer from A, and this causes C to open B for me.
How can I choose which resources to compile depending of the compile constants used? So, if VAR1=0 then I wouldn't add RESOURCE_A to my final assembly.
I searched around, but didn't find any info regarding this... I guess I'm using the wrong keywords, since I doubt nobody else had this problem/doubt ever before.
Also, I use both VS2005 and 2008 at my job, mainly VB, although I haven't got any problem using C# either.
I'm trying to compile some code that I found for an Application that I want to use. Now I've download VB.NET express created a new project and just replaced the code with the one I got, but this isn't creating the forms (textfields etc.) at all, so I can't compile it. What else do I have to do to be able to compile it.
This is the source code: Public Class Form1 Dim psc As String Dim pwchange As String Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load [Code] .....
