I have a project that I have created, it something like a contact database. It is complete with its own sql server database, and controls and forms.I kinda of understand that I can include this project into another project. This is the tricky part,Can I include my contact project into another project and add more items to the database and forms in a new project? What I'm after is like using classes. My contact database would be like the base class, and the new project would be adding more features to that project.

I have access to a database table that has been added as a datasource in project (A). Is there any way to refer to this database table from project (B) WITHOUT adding it to project (B)'s datasource?

Friends I have Developed my Data base Project on vb6, using adodc and datagrid using ms access database file, it was working nice in vb6, I also put Search box there and used adodc1.recordsource="select * from table" sql query.
later i needed to convert it in vb.net I converted it, every thing is working fine, but one problem appears, an adodc's Recordsource query for searching records is not working, it only works if there is data in dataset (Datagrid),suppose once i pressed search button to search record and if no record found then dataset / datagrid becomes empty, now i wanted to search an other record with other name, but this time it does not work and following error appears Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted. Requested operation requires a current record.

i think SQL came bundled with my vb.net 2008 express download (it is on my desktop). I have always used text files to store data, what is the advantage of SQL over text/csv files? I would think you would want to avoid SQL becuase 1.) the user has to have SQL installed to run the application 2.) It is slower. Wouldnt you want to avoid using sql if possible>

For reasons that are beyond my control, I have three Projects. Projects A and B reference project C. Project A references project B so that it can open a large form in project B. I now need to open that large form from project C, but VB won't allow me to add a reference from C to B because that would create a circular dependency. I found a way around it, though. I created a Timer in A, and when I opened C from A, I passed in that timer. When the user performs a certain action, I enable the Timer from A, and this causes C to open B for me.

I'm building a vb.net database program and have run into a small problem that I have not been able to figure out.Imports System.Data Public Class Form1
[Code]...
the line "dataAdapter.Fill(dataSet,"Address") " will cause an error when the program is run. "Syntax error in query. Incomplete Query Clause." is the error shown. If I comment that line out the program runs perfectly. Everything that I have seen (and gone by as a tutorial for Database work) has shown that line of code working fine. have I missed something?

I have a question. I've got a main application let call that main. And i had some problems with my database and such so i started a whole new project just to fix my databaseproblems. I'll call this project database. Now database works the way i want it to when i run it by itself. Now i inserted all of the files into main hoping i would work there aswell. Ofcourse i had to make some changes because of the namedifference. When i run i don't get any errors but when i try my validation there are some errors there. Main is project which has a mdiparentform and several childs. I'm thinking this in some way causes the problem because when i insert the database project into another (no mdiparent having) project it works just fine.
I hope someone can make sense of this and help me out. Because i tried everything. I copy the code from database to main, I retyped it myself, I even started with an empty form so that I had to create the dataset and everything all over again.

I have created a project with my forms & a little bit of validation logic, the basic skeleton of the project looks just fine. The data that I have for the project is currently in 2 Excel spreadsheets, so I have created a database within my project (I chose a SQL option, even though I have only ever used Access in the past) & I now have Database1.sdf & MyFinancesDB.xsd in my Solution Explorer.
I have created 2 Tables, the same as the Spreadsheets & have created Columns as necessary, and also set up Primary keys in both Tables and linked the Primary key of the Parent Table to a keyed column in the Child Table ... I *think* I have done what I need to do.Now, the big question (assuming I have set things up correctly !) is how do I import / load the data from the Excel spreadsheets into the SQL Tables?

My vb2008 project is connected ["PROVIDER=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source = C:MyProductMyInvest.mdb"]to an access database. The numerous searches and filters are sql select coded. The database has been added using the Data Source Configuration Wizard. My problem is when published and loaded on another machine it fails due to being unable to locate the database. I have tried the configuration alternative of making a copy and not.

I have a single form in VB with an Access database. The form is used to browse the database and works perfectly, however when I compile it into a a single exe file, the database still has to be separate file in the same directory.
Is there a way I can include or embed the Access database as "part" of the exe file so that I have a single exe instead of having an exe AND a separate database file?

I built a program in visual studio 2005 that access a Microsoft Access database. I need this program to be a standalone program on many machines. To do this, I need to install a copy of the database when the program installs. I tried including it in the application files part of the build, but the problem I am having is the connection strings dont update with the install. It still tries to point to the folder it is in on the comnputer i built the program.

Does anyone know why there would be no option to create a database project in VS 2008? In the New Project dialog, under Project Types I have no node for Database Projects. I've looked under Other Project Types as well. Every tutorial I read says this option should be in one of those two places, but not for me :-( I do have SQL 2005 installed on this machine.

I am taking Computing at A Level and need to create a solution for a business.I have thought of my solution which is a log of all the cars that go out on test drive for my dads motor company, i have created a database in Microsoft Access and have saved it as the usual mdb file. i have then imported this into the project and would like to use it.I have created a login form which i would like to use along side the database in the sense i would like it to check when a user enters their name and password for those two things in the database and respond accordingly. I also have created forms in which employees would enter information and then click the submit button, i need this to then place the information into a database as records under the right headings.I have tried using the program and play about a bit but i just can't understand it easily, even when i search for help i have trouble understanding what it all means. If someone could help me that would be great cheersLongy1259

Note 1: I'm moving from VB6, so you'll appreciate that I have little experience with this real OOP. If there is a link or article you can recommend that might answer this, recommend away!Note 2: I'm not concerned about databases and parameters per se, but more the _concept_ of class in a class (or class of a class).
