I have selected the correct driver SQL Compact 3.5
It will add the database to the project but the FULL PATH is always incorrect and I can't change it. (Please look at my seconderror.jpg) the correct path is C:SQLSample.sdf

I need a simple embedded database for a relatively small database size (< 100MB, but in most cases < 20MB) and maximum 1-2 concurrent users/connections on average. It must be able to protect/encrypt it's data with a login.

I have the following code which I hoped added a row to my DataGridView and also a record to my database. It does the first part, but not the second.
Dim row As DataRow = Me.CCLogDataSet.tblLog.NewRow()
row("cc_log_contract") = Me.txt_Log_Add_Contract.Text
row("cc_log_registration") = Me.mtb_Log_Add_Registration.Text.ToUpper()
row("cc_log_milage") = Me.txt_Log_Add_Milage.Text
[Code] .....
It seems to be storing the data in memory? As the data in the DataGridView is persistant, even after a Relaunch of the application. However, why I query the database, there are no records in it.

I'm updating an old VS 2003 project to VS 2010. Part of the application uses the old JRO COM object to compact the database. That seems to be depreciated in 2010.

I'm looking for a compact and small database engine to use, because i want to design an application that will store, record and get data from a database, i'm thinking of using VB or java as the programming language, the database that will work best for which programming i need an advice on which databse engine to use, one that i can bundle with the application after it has been developed, so the user can use the application and the databse on their systemfreely. A flexible database engine.

I'm wanting to add an SQL Compact database to a VB project. I am running VB 2008 Express and using SQL Compact 3.5 SP1.I've followed the various tutorials in adding an SQL compact database in VB but in all cases when I add a new item to the database (from within my VB Form1 window), pressing the Save button (via Binding Navigator Toolbar automatically added to Form 1) will save the data to the defined 'DataSet' BUT will not update the main SQL compact database.I've followed the tutorials line by line many times now.Anyone have an ideas why this will not function - the tutorials say it should be automatic?

My VB.NET program compacts and repairs my DB, but somewhere in the process unsets the database password. No problem, just reset it through VB, right? not sure how to go about that task.
So I either need to know how to compact it without losing the password, or how to reset the password after I lose it. Trying the best I can to make the code look decent in my post, let me know if there is a better way.
Dim strAccessDatabasePath As String = System.AppDomain.CurrentDomain.BaseDirectory & "App_DataSquirrel.accdb"
Dim LockedDbFileInfo As New System.IO.FileInfo(strAccessDatabasePath.Replace(".accdb", ".laccdb"))
Dim TempFolder As String = System.AppDomain.CurrentDomain.BaseDirectory & "App_Data emp"
Dim TempDB As String = TempFolder & " emp.accdb"

I've developed a software using VB.Net and SQL compact edition database. (.sdf file) Now i want to add my .sdf file to setup file. I've search internet and create setup file. when i install the software, it is created new folders in program files including my database file and exe file. after double clicking exe file, it is open the software. but when using, it's shown a message "connection current state is closed". but when i run my vb project, it is working well.
Other details.

Friends I have Developed my Data base Project on vb6, using adodc and datagrid using ms access database file, it was working nice in vb6, I also put Search box there and used adodc1.recordsource="select * from table" sql query.
later i needed to convert it in vb.net I converted it, every thing is working fine, but one problem appears, an adodc's Recordsource query for searching records is not working, it only works if there is data in dataset (Datagrid),suppose once i pressed search button to search record and if no record found then dataset / datagrid becomes empty, now i wanted to search an other record with other name, but this time it does not work and following error appears Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted. Requested operation requires a current record.

i think SQL came bundled with my vb.net 2008 express download (it is on my desktop). I have always used text files to store data, what is the advantage of SQL over text/csv files? I would think you would want to avoid SQL becuase 1.) the user has to have SQL installed to run the application 2.) It is slower. Wouldnt you want to avoid using sql if possible>

For reasons that are beyond my control, I have three Projects. Projects A and B reference project C. Project A references project B so that it can open a large form in project B. I now need to open that large form from project C, but VB won't allow me to add a reference from C to B because that would create a circular dependency. I found a way around it, though. I created a Timer in A, and when I opened C from A, I passed in that timer. When the user performs a certain action, I enable the Timer from A, and this causes C to open B for me.
