Make Changes To The Database Of A Project That Has Already Been Compiled?
Mar 29, 2012
I need to update a vb 2008 program which will affect both the data and the database structure. How can I do these? These program has already being compiled, I mean its already in its .exe form, How do I do this?
I have a VB .dll from a previous developer that I need to modify. So I de-compiled it with no errors and then exported the code. I tried to compile the project and get two syntax errors:
New SqlDataAdapter(query, Me.connection).Fill(dataTable) New SqlDataAdapter(DirectCast(command, SqlCommand)).Fill(dataTable)
The error message just says syntax error, nothing else.
I imported a VS 2008 project, and eventhough my project is compiled for x86, the intellitrace will not run and says that the project is not targeting x86.
i am a Microsoft Word developer and I sell Microsoft Office solutions, to companies. I am beginning to be concerned that my solutions are being copied - which is fairly easy.I am hoping someone can give me some advice about the best way to do this.I don't really have much of an understanding outside of Office VBA development - but have dabbled in .NET and VB in the past. Should I be buying Visual Studio - if so, does it matter if I buy Visual Studio 2008 or 2010 - I will initially need to convert some Word 2007. I have previously downloaded the .NET framework, and not sure how this relates to Visual Studio.
I would like these to have their separate "Bin" folders too if possible at all (I tried using "Probing" but I guess that's not allowed for web apps and defaults to "Bin" folder). If not that then definitely some ability for these to work together under one app/virtual directory because I'm not allowed to create another at any cost :(
I just want to make my vb.net project password protected without any database. And also i want to make my program trialware and with registration key facility.
Is it possible to make one project that saves all the database information on through forms. Then also have a word document that could access the database through labels on a separate project? Also i am using ms access for my database and is there any way after i publish them that they can access the same database?
I recently made a small exe program that connects to an Access database. Now it runs fine on most computers, but the one it HAS to run good on has some pretty harsh restrictions set on it's network. The problem is an OLEdb connection is refused because the file is not trusted on the Network, and I don't know how to give it the access it needs.I've tried running an install with it, and that will give it access, but only on the local computer and not on the network drives.I've tried placing the database in the network drive and accessing it with the install there, but there is a problem in that the local drives are wiped at logout.I've tried giving it trust access through Administrator Tools, but it always throws an error when I try it.
When I try adding a new data source to my project I get a prompt saying "The connection you selected uses a local data file that is not part of the current project. Would you like to copy the file to your project and modify the connection?"This sounds rather obscure to me, as I'm new to VB.NET and programming non-script apps in general. The data source in this case is a .sdf SQL CE file.
Question 1: If I say that I want to copy the database to the project, what will happen after I compile the app, where the database will be? (how will I edit it from another app?)
Question 2: If I do not include it, how the data source will still keep linked? Can I link using filesystem enviroiment variables like %ProgramFiles%MyAppDir?
Question 3: Can I just tell it to use a read-only (Just needs to read it) data source on the web, like on an FTP?
I have a project that I have created, it something like a contact database. It is complete with its own sql server database, and controls and forms.I kinda of understand that I can include this project into another project. This is the tricky part,Can I include my contact project into another project and add more items to the database and forms in a new project? What I'm after is like using classes. My contact database would be like the base class, and the new project would be adding more features to that project.
I have access to a database table that has been added as a datasource in project (A). Is there any way to refer to this database table from project (B) WITHOUT adding it to project (B)'s datasource?
Friends I have Developed my Data base Project on vb6, using adodc and datagrid using ms access database file, it was working nice in vb6, I also put Search box there and used adodc1.recordsource="select * from table" sql query.
later i needed to convert it in vb.net I converted it, every thing is working fine, but one problem appears, an adodc's Recordsource query for searching records is not working, it only works if there is data in dataset (Datagrid),suppose once i pressed search button to search record and if no record found then dataset / datagrid becomes empty, now i wanted to search an other record with other name, but this time it does not work and following error appears Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted. Requested operation requires a current record.
i've been working on a project. it was working fine. but now i cant make any changes to the project. when i debug the changes i made to the project are not visible. even if i add a button the button is not there when i debug. i cant change my startup form. even if i change the startup form when i debug the same form get loaded.
i have completed my application successfully and now i want to deploy it on the Customer End...How i can make an .exe file of the project that also include SQL DB ??

I have to make an .exe file, which could be installed on other systems.. I'm having a SQl dB project with VB .net 2005. I've searched all through the MSDN but couldn't find..
The project is suppose to total the 8 commissions (in the array) I see the coding but when I try to put in a label at the bottom of the txtReport I get an error now I have deleted the box and am confused as to what my next step should be. Do I create a label box in the txtReport. I am so close to being finished.
The item "objDebugWindowsApplication1.Form1.resources" was specified more than once in the "Resources" parameter. Duplicate items are not supported by the "Resources" parameter.
MDI Parent. that behaves same like taskbar, whenever a new form is opened there will be a link for the form, and also having RightClick Menu from which i can close maximize and minimize the form.
is any featcher like this is provided by the microsoft ?
when I open my project in VS 2010 (File - Open Project - *.vbproj) my project loads just fine. I can run it just fine. But, when I change something -anything at all- and run the project, nothing is changed. I can even save, close and reopen the project with the new changes, but it still runs the old version.
For example: I open the project, with Form1 that has 3 buttons. I run the program and I get Form1 with 3 buttons. I stop running, add button 4 and hit play... I get Form1 with 3 buttons.I save the project, close it and open it again. My Form1 design shows 4 buttons. But when I start it, there are only 3 buttons...It must be something inside the project, cause this happens on 3 different PC's where I have VS 2010 installed.
