I have a small app I've been playing with that simply connects to a .sdf database and displays two records in a grid. I wanted to make a setup program so I can learn that functionality. Everything goes smoothly when I run the setup but when I go to run the program and try to connect to the database, I get the following error:

I get this error when I try to publish: Error 2 An error occurred while signing: Failed to sign binReleaseapp.publish\setup.exe. SignTool Error: ISignedCode::Sign returned error: 0x80880253
The signer's certificate is not valid for signing.

I downloaded the .net 3.5 sp1 and it performed a repair but it still will not publish.
I got "Unrecoverable build error" when building setup project.I try the solution in [URL].. but did not work out.
View 1 RepliesI have a running program currently installed in my server, this program is running 24hrs a day. Now I did some enhancements on this program and tried to publish it. My publishing is successful but when I click the setup.exe Im have error message: "Critical error during application's main start up procedure. Description: Required processing files missing." user is install the setup file its installed sucessfully. but, when he perform some button click action,

another problem was the windows application which is used in the setup project can't work properly.. when i want to edit files in windows application these file can't be edited... error show object not found exception.

I have a database with customers and employees (among other things) and I'm trying to set up a basic login screen. Users log in with their EmployeeID (primary key) This part deals with logging in for the first time. It checks the database for a user with that ID and grabs the password. If the password is not empty / null, it shows a message box and stops there. If the password is empty/null it is meant to confirm and then update the new password. This is where my understanding ends. Debugging shows the error is definitely in the SQL update, but I can't see any errors...

In 2008 this just resulted in warnings when building but I now get an error instead indicating that the file is already included.I can fix this by excluding them but they will reappear after each build so have to be excluded again which slows the process down - example error message is below:

View 5 RepliesI am trying out the Visual Studio 2008 Standard Edition Setup and Deployment - Setup Wizard on a very simple VB 2008 app which includes a simple SQL Express dB. The build works fine and it installs on the target system ok. But when I go to run the application and add a new record for example, I get a "read-only" error indicating that the sql db is read-only. Yet none of the files in the folder are read-only. What is odd is that the folder that it was installed into "acts" like it is read only, yet it is not identified as such. If I move the .exe and db files out of that folder, (onto the desktop for example) it works just fine. Should I set up a post build event or something to make

But after installed in Win 7, it doesn't work well (it show one file not found, but I saw the file in the right folder). Could it be the incompatibility of VS 2008 and Win 7?
