Some question about Ado.net and SQL Server stored procedures. We have a stored procedure in SQL Server as described below
Procedure dob.PendingCalls
@UsID As Char(10), @Sts As Integer OUTPUT , @Msg As VarChar(100) OUTPUT
AS
Begin
[code]....
we are using vb.net in visual studio 2003. Now if ExecuteNonQuery is used then we do not get rows. If ExecuteReader is used then we get rows [ with forward-only access which is of no use to us] but we cannot get output parameters values returned by stored procedure?

I'm trying to figure out a way to save all the stored procedures on a SQL Server 2005instance to text files. One of our developers has made a huge amount of StoredProcedures, and theseneed to be managed somehow between our test / integration and production environments. I know how to retrieve / run / create stored procedures, it's just the "save-to-file" i need.

I want to create a stored procedure in SQL server 2005 in order to check if there a specific value in a table. As I don't know how to do this can someone give me a link or an example on how to create and store the stored procedure? Secondly I wrote this for my the above stored procedure: CREATE PROCEDURE dbo.dokimi -- Add the parameters for the stored procedure here
[Code]....
One of the things that I am not sure is that I want to check the value that the user passes throuhg my application that I am creating. In the above code this exists in the select query @txtUserName.text. Is this right? Can I use it like this or should I declare something more after the create procedure statement?

All of those disadvantages of stored procedures (database portability etc.) I am now facing. We are going to migrate our VB.Net/ASP/SQL Server application to something like Mono/Postgresql and fully internationalize.
One of the many issues we face is that we have 800-900 stored procedures. What we are thinking of doing is moving the logic in these SP's in to the application code. I have searched around for how people have done this or how it can be done however I have found very little. Most of the info on stored procedures is about what should be in them etc. So I have come to the conclusion that the best way to approach this is to leave the SQL retrieve/update type queries as stored procedures and move the ones with business logic in to the application.

In my VB.NET code I construct a ODBC.COMMAND to call a stored procedure that eliminates a record from table in SQLSERVER 2008, I use this code in a FOR NEXT loop, it may contain 1 to 20 records_ID to pass to stored procedures to delete the records.
This code work well for several months, but since the last compilation it only deletes the first 2 records.
In debug mode in VS 2008 IDE works fine.
VB.NET CODE
''' <summary>
''' DELETE CANCELED CUSTOMER ORDERS
''' </summary>

I have an application that is currently using DAO and would like to move it to ADO.Net. The problem I'm having is that when I do, I cannot do any queries that take variables if the database is Access or SQL Server Compact Edition. For example: SELECT RecipeName FROM tblMasterRecipe WHERE CategoryID = iCategoryID..The database is a local standalone database. Of course if I use the Standard SQL Server I can add parameters just fine using the TableAdapter Query Configuration Wizard. How do I do something similar for Access or SQL Server Compact Edition? The Create new stored procedure radio button is greayed out when the database is Access or SQL Server Compact Edition.

I am trying to test a number of stored procedures through SQL Server Query Analyzer. But am stuck when I try to test stored procedures that contain Output parameters.
Code:
DECLARE @Counterbigint
DECLARE @GUIDuniqueidentifier
exec usp_tbl_User_Add @Counter, @GUID, 'UserName', 'First Name','Surname',
[Code]....
When I put the Select statement though in the 'usp_tbl_User_Add' stored procedure in works fine and gives me the correct values.

For some reason my stored procedures are all executing twice! I have a static function that runs an SP given its name and the parameters and fills a datatable.
Public Shared Function RunSP(ByVal spName As String, ByRef spParams As Dictionary(Of String, String), ByRef pDataTable As DataTable) As Integer
Dim cmd As New SqlCommand
Dim lAdapter As SqlDataAdapter
[code]....
Is there something wrong with the code? I've checked with the debugger and the appropriate SPs are definitely only being called once, i.e. this function only runs once for a particular insertion function, but two things are inserted into the table.

I have created a vb.net application that uses a SQL Server database at a remote location over the internet. There are 10 vb.net clients that are working on the same time. The problem is in the delay time that happens when inserting a new row or retrieving rows from the database, the form appears to be freezing for a while when it deals with the database, I don't want to use a background worker to overcome the freeze problem.I want to eliminate that delay time and decrease it as much as possible?

What i have going on, is i have a MySQL connector as a resource on my application, and im basically trying to connect to my MySQL server, to either a) register a new account, or b) check that the account exists and they are premium, and login, Now what i have run into problems with is: My MySQL Database Name has a _ in it which VB is not allowing for some strange reason.
The code i am using is below
Imports MySql.Data.MySqlClient
Public Class Form1
Function UpdateRecord(ByVal query As String) As Integer
[CODE]...
How i can allow the _ into the application, because the only databases that don't have a _ in the user or dbname are a) Paid ones which i DO NOT have the money for or self hosted ones, i cannot leave my computer on 24/7

I was looking at using linq to sql (or EF) rather than in linedynamic sql within my application but have hit a possible issue. My application modifies data against any number of random databases accross several sql instances, linq appears to structured towards a single database scenario. Would it be best to just continue using in line sql or is there a method of using linq without tying it down to a single database? An example of what I'm doing at the moment:

I'm writing a program that will be based off of TCP communications with a server. The user would click a button, which would send data through TCP Client to the TCP Listener on another computer. The TCP Listener sends back a response, and the TCP client is receiving it. Right now I have the response from the server showing up in the immediate window, which is good. I want the response from the server to determine what action the client program will take next.
How do I use the server's response variable in a different class? I need to use the response from the server in an if-then-else statement to say "if the server response is 001, then execute this code. else, if the response is 002, then execute this code."

I have two web servers with public IPs, for example Server1 with IP 111.111.111.111 and Server2 with IP 222.222.222.222. see the picture:
There is an asp.net webform at Server 1. My intention is:
For every http request to that webform in Server1, the Server1 just pass the request's information to Server2 for logic processing and subsequently Server2 sends the response back to client (i.e. normal browser)
My questions are:
What information that Server1 needs to pass to Server2, so that Server2 able to send response back to client? note that at Server2, there is a TcpListener instance. This TcpListener instance acting as receiver for that webform request information from Server1. What is the suitable object (i.e. the class in System.Net or related namespace such as System.Net.Sockets) at Server2 for sending response back to client? Suitable here means able to meet my intention.

If you try to access a password protected page it does a security check and redirects you if you are not logged in, retaining the URL (ie. Members/MemberLogin.aspx?oc=/PodCast/Default.aspx)The vb script places the "/PodCast/Default.aspx" in a variable and holds it until the login process is complete.Once the user types in their username and password it is suppose to do a Response.Redirect(strRedirectURL) and go to the "/PodCast/Default.aspx" but instead it goes to the default.aspx page for logging in successfully

I know that time delays have been covered before around almost everywhere. however a method that forgoes forcing the GUI to become temporarily non-responsive, is all but a myth, or at least to my findings. i have the need for a GUI program to delay before the next command, however using the current method, detailed following, it causes the desired effect however it dose make it much less polished as when you click anything else on the GUI it goes un-responsive for the directed time. [Code] make a sub called say Tdelay( milseconds as integer) and have it run a loop as many times as the milseconds variable indicates and each time making the thread delay for 1 milsecond and then update the GUI/form in some way, then re-loop.
