i made a tcp/ip application using the .NET TcpListener class, my problem is that sometimes (about 30 / 4000) the connection between the client and the server got interrupted in the middle and the server response to the client is lost.is there a way to know if the server response was successfully sent to the client without the client response back?

This emailing code wont seem to work in my program. I get an exception "The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was 5.5.1 authentication required."

I have a small program which is a tcp client. I send a string from this client to a device over ethernet (it acts as the tcp server). As soon as the device recieves the input string it will respond back with response data. My problem is i am not getting the entire response data back from the server. (device).

How/Where can i get the error "response validation not conforming to wsdl and schema" in my vb.net webservice client. I checked the response using the validate response option, within soapui tool. Is there any way to generate the logs related to this, in .net client?There was no exception in my .net client, except the response object was blank, even though i could see the response xml in the trace log.
The below line invokes the webservice. After the excution, tracelog has the request and response xml, however my objresp(response object) is empty. In soapui, i validated the response, it was not conforming to schema.objresponsehead = objProxy.myoperation(objreqheader, objrequest, objresp)
Here's the situation. I'm a Java developer. Another developer in our company wrote a web service for our clients. They wrote the service in Java. They also wrote a demo for creating a client to consume the web service in Java and it works just fine. I've been tasked with creating a web services client in VB.NET to do the same thing. It hasn't been going smoothly. The problem is that the web service requires that you send the username and password in the SOAP header and I can't figure out how to do that in Vb.NET. I am using a client.openRead to send request and passing line through finalurl.

Now my server blocks ports and i am getting error on this line now is there any other solution to client.OpenRead and what ever i am sending throught this is code is going on other company's server so i can't tell then to change their way so is there any other solution to this?

All transfer of information is directly from the server to each client. I have a 3rd party webservice (happens to be a peoplesoft EIP service) that I'm trying to call from .net. I've tried using a service reference and the old web reference to call this service and every time I call it I get a response of "nothing" back from the service.
I've ran the service call through SoapUI and it works fine. I've captured the network traffic using Fiddler and notice that when i call the service from SoapUi or from .Net I get the same resulting xml back from the call. So that means the call is working. I've turned on tracing and logging within WCF and I'm not seeing any errors. Nor is it throwing an exception.
So my theory is that .net is having a hard time translating the xml from the service back into a .net object.

how to create a client/server... But I couldn't... I don't want anything fancy. Just want the client to send the server 4 numbers, depending on the user's choice; after that, the server would turn off the pc, restart it, etc. It all depends on the number received. Is there a rather "simple" way to do it? If it's not to much trouble you could use Atheist's example. (Btw I don't understand the code and, yes, I've checked on [URL])

But how do i go about writing a program with 1 client and server where the client side creates a text file.Once the server sees there is a text file it connects and downloads it to itself or the client pushes the text file to the server.Once on the server i will read the text file and put its info into a sql db.

Now im talking the server, after the client clicks disconnect or closes by task manager, looses connection, etc the server crashes and gives me.

There is a feature in the application that allows users of the app, to view a "Recording" page from the application, and works with a Soap API. Once the application sends the requested data to the API, the API responds with a custom URL, which must then be opened in a browser.How do I capture the response, or to be more specific, the URL that is being sent back from the API? Below, I have included the full parameters of the api, as well as the code that I have so far. What I really need to do, is figure out how to caputure the URL that is being sent back from the API to a text box. This will allow me to then transfer that text to the browser. But again, I have listed the full specifications, or parameters of the api below, as well as the code that I have so far. In case it helps, the app was designed for Windows Mobile using Visual Basic 08. [code] I am able to send the correct information to the api, but when the api returns the response, with the URL in it, I am unable to obtain that URL, and therefore unable to open that URL in a web browser, which has to be done as you can see from the API specs.
View 18 RepliesI've basically made a basic tcp server/client application. The thing is that I'm behind a router and so will be the other people that use my clients. I've had to use port-forwarding or the software "rinetd"to run quite a few applications online.
Let me explain: I'm on a lan network that connects to the internet. Whenever I want to host a server - for instance a basic ftp or http server. If I give my external IP to anyone, they won't be able to access my server. Even if I portforward, it doesnt work. I have to use rinetd here. For other applications, portforwarding works. I'm not sure how these things work at all.
Anyway, my issue now is that I have created this server/client application. I'm having serious doubts that if I run the server, I'll have to either a) portforward or use rinetd to get people to connect to my server. IF I need to portforward, that's fine. However, using rinetd would really suck... My 2nd concern is as follows: IF the person running the client is in a similar situation as me (i.e he's on a lan that has a router which connects to the net), will he have to portforward or use rinetd as well? If he portforwards that's fine. But I don't think I could get people to use rinetd.... Also, if there are more than 1 person on a lan trying to connect to my server, there is a big problem when they try to portforward: they will only be able to allocate one of their internal ip to that port, and the others won't be able to connect, right? How does this work? I mean, I use many softwares like msn/skype/(some games)/firefox that do not need portforwarding/rinetd. Yet they work. My housemates(other people on the lan) use the same softwares, and it works fine. There's no clash/probs watsoever How come these run fine?
Anyway, back to my issues. Given I have no knowledge about how the above work, I was wondering whether there was a way to host a vb .net server application on an external website (external to my house) so that I might *avoid* the above mentioned problems, and to what extent that would be a sound solution.
I am trying to return a javascript function using response.write in an aspx page. The problem is that the function i am returning has lots of quotes and they are conflicting with the repsonse.write syntax. Here is a sample code:

This is giving me a problem as the quotes inside are cutting off the response early. Is there a better way to do this?

I am using stored procedures in my application using vb.net, while executing stored procedures on mysql database server thru application, the response time from the server is more. Is there any settings that i need to set on mysql db server or any changes in connection string or in code.

The user would click a button, which would send data through TCP Client to the TCP Listener on another computer. The TCP Listener sends back a response, and the TCP client is receiving it. Right now I have the response from the server showing up in the immediate window, which is good. I want the response from the server to determine what action the client program will take next.
How do I use the server's response variable in a different class? I need to use the response from the server in an if-then-else statement to say "if the server response is 001, then execute this code. else, if the response is 002, then execute this code."
I have two web servers with public IPs, for example Server1 with IP 111.111.111.111 and Server2 with IP 222.222.222.222. see the picture:
There is an asp.net webform at Server 1. My intention is:
For every http request to that webform in Server1, the Server1 just pass the request's information to Server2 for logic processing and subsequently Server2 sends the response back to client (i.e. normal browser)
My questions are:
What information that Server1 needs to pass to Server2, so that Server2 able to send response back to client? note that at Server2, there is a TcpListener instance. This TcpListener instance acting as receiver for that webform request information from Server1. What is the suitable object (i.e. the class in System.Net or related namespace such as System.Net.Sockets) at Server2 for sending response back to client? Suitable here means able to meet my intention.
