Is it possible to view client transaction requests and host response in a self hosted console window?
Front end client sends request to service
Service console displays requested data in console window and forwards to listening server
Server responds with data
Response is displayed in console window
I guess it would be displaying the traces in the console window.
i made a tcp/ip application using the .NET TcpListener class, my problem is that sometimes (about 30 / 4000) the connection between the client and the server got interrupted in the middle and the server response to the client is lost.is there a way to know if the server response was successfully sent to the client without the client response back?

I need to build a Windows Service in VB.net under Visual Studio 2003.This Windows service should read the flat file (Huge file of about a million records) from the local folder and upload it to the corresponding database table.This should be done in Rollback mode(Database transaction).While transferring data to table, the service should also be listening to additional client requests.So, if in between client requests for a cancel operation, then the service should rollback the transactions and give feedback to the client. This windows service also keeps writing continuously to two log files about the status and error records. My client is ASPX page (A website). how to organize and achieve this functionality in a windows service(Processing and listening for additional client requests simultaneously. Ex. Cancellation request).

this works fine to trap out numbers from letters but the problem i am getting is when the program calls uppon LastName it is recording 0 and wanted to know if there is a way of getting past this ..... so basically i need a way to allow letter but not numbers and symbols and then dispay a pernolised error message but at the same time use Stream writer to save was the answer is in a .txt file.

While working on some functions that update my database, I was writing some quick tests just to make sure my functions were executing properly. When it comes time to actually update the database I can pass a transaction to a function and then commit it:
user.Assignment("assignment value for some column in table", connection, transaction)
transaction.Commit()
I am curious if there is a way to write a quick test that can verify that the transaction will actually update certain rows before committing?

I have set up a host that stores all the user details and when the user connects to the host, the specific user details will be sent to the client. One of the details include an avatar image. Since the example is sending data via text, how do I send an image from the host to the client and vise versa?

How/Where can i get the error "response validation not conforming to wsdl and schema" in my vb.net webservice client. I checked the response using the validate response option, within soapui tool. Is there any way to generate the logs related to this, in .net client?There was no exception in my .net client, except the response object was blank, even though i could see the response xml in the trace log.

Here's the situation. I'm a Java developer. Another developer in our company wrote a web service for our clients. They wrote the service in Java. They also wrote a demo for creating a client to consume the web service in Java and it works just fine. I've been tasked with creating a web services client in VB.NET to do the same thing. It hasn't been going smoothly. The problem is that the web service requires that you send the username and password in the SOAP header and I can't figure out how to do that in Vb.NET. I experimented by using asynchronous mode call backs etc. but it disconnects once connection is established and does not respond for further requests from the same client.

I am using a client.openRead to send request and passing line through finalurl.

Now my server blocks ports and i am getting error on this line now is there any other solution to client.OpenRead and what ever i am sending throught this is code is going on other company's server so i can't tell then to change their way so is there any other solution to this?

I'm looking at a website using Internet Explorer and Firefox. In each browser I select view source and see the website's URL in the links. These links were concatenated together using HttpContext.Current.Request.Url.Host in the code behind. However, when I use netcat or Burp Suite v1.3.03, looking at the same links I see the servername instead of the website's URL.
My question is - Why does view source in the browser display different links in the page source than what netcat or Burp Suite outputs? Is the browser rewriting stuff? My thought to correct is to have a web.config setting which is used to create the links. Next question - Does anyone know of a configuration change to make to IIS to return the URL instead of the server name or a .NET function that I should be calling instead to get the URL that the website is running as.
I get this error at the Commit of a transaction in a desktop application:
This OleDbTransaction has completed; it is no longer usable.
Other posts I have seen with similar error suggests this can occur if it takes a long time, or contains large amounts of data. This is not the case here.Logging tells me it takes 140 ms from Begin to Commit and about 10 commands executed inside the transaction.It is using an Oracle database.This class is a simplified version of my database class:

Is it not allowed to run a select inside a transaction like this? Or can it be done by running the transaction in a specific isolation level (I see that the BeginTransaction method has an optional parameter for doing this) ? ..Or some other sollution..? In my case, it was not a problem to move the select to run before the transaction started, but what if you need to run selects that must run inside the transaction?
I've seen plenty of examples of transactions in the actual store procedure's SQL. But I'm wanting to do the transaction and keep track of it in code. I tried this but it says that my insertcommand's transaction object is null. How can I fix this?
