Jan 15, 2012I just downloaded a Dictionary Words list .txt( containing all dictionary words ), every word is on a line.What i need is only words > 5 letters ( length > 5 ). S o i though about making a Visual basic software that delete words < 5 letters from the file.

Feb 4, 2011i need to get ALL the words/items in the listbox to go INTO a textbox... i know how to do it the opposite way with lstbox1.items.add(txtbox1.text) - etc.... but it need to figure out how to make it go from LISTBOX to TEXTBOX. i've already tried stuff like "txtbox1.text = lstbox1.text" - that doesnt work, i've also tried "txtbox1.text = lstbox1.items", and just stuff like that, i've probably tried like 10 different things but none of them work im using VB 2008 Express Edition

Getting The 403 Forbidden Error While Running A VS 2010 In Debug Mode
Jun 30, 2011I'm getting the 403 Forbidden error while running a VS 2010 in debug mode. It gives me this error as it tries to read thru an XML File. See attachment. This is a web app and it's reading an XML file that retrieves the DB/Server information. It's not the Web.Config file but just a regular xml file. This file is read by every application in our system. Not sure why it suddenly started doing this. I've created the virtual directory on our IIS Server and set permissions on the C:inetpubwwwrootAppName directory of my C: drive where the app resides.

Sep 20, 2011Alright so i have a form with alot (ALOT) of controls...many tabs, many listviews, many comboboxes and textboxes, all of which have values which i saveload using a class i made for saving and loading these values from a file.
Loading these values is pretty slow after the form loads. Takes around 3 seconds (i had to create a splashscreen and made it look decent, but it's still not a nice thing to have)
Then today i decided to try something. I opened the designer to initialize component, and i called the LoaderSub (that loads the values for the controls from a file) within initialize component, in a location after all the properties are set but before all the .resumelayout and .performlayout are called. Lo' and behold the form loaded in less than half a second, with the values and all.
However, now everytime i make a change to the form in design view, or even add a handler to some control in code view, the designer redraws and the auto generated code takes out my code from initializecomponent.
I did the googling, and all the results i found for similar cases issues were cases where the person asking the question im going to ask, the answer is "Didn't you read the part that says DO NOT MODIFY?"
Still, as a last attempt, I ask here: is there any way to modify initializecomponent without losing my changes? I just need to call LoaderSub before the layout resumes...if i call it before initialize component, i get null reference exceptions. And if i call it right after initialize component, loading is very slow.
VS 2010 WebClient.DownloadFileAsync - 403 Access Forbidden Error
May 1, 2010I'm trying to download a simple text file from a web server. It's easily accessible from the web browser and I can download it from the web browser. However, whenever I use a WebClient to download the file, I get a 403 Access Forbidden Error! I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do. I haven't come across this kind of error in programming before and I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do to get around it.

Feb 2, 2009I am using Visual Basic (VS 2005) windows 2003 and Exchange 2003. Also I have developed WEBDAV functionality for retrieving messages from my exchange. Everything worked fine until they have asked me to move to 2007. I already know that Microsoft has de empasized Webdav but they say that they still supporting it.My problem is that every time I'm trying to retrieve contacts or inbox or whatever I getting The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden Below is a sample of my code

Datagridview Delete Existing Items
Nov 1, 2010I have a datagridview i use to load alot of klients into a combobox. The values of the datagridview is a connection to a MySQL db.
What it's suppose to do, is to: When clicking the combobox, it should make a list from the datagridview, getting all the names from the klients.
My problem is that it gets dublicated, and will use to much memory at a moment.
I've tryed to check if the item it was about to add allready existed in the datagridview, if it was, it shoudn't add it again, however my code failed, and I'm having huge CPU and RAM useage when running this problem for more than 30mins.

The code above is only checking for dublicated in the combobox, And I want the code to also check for dublicated items in the datagridview.

Jan 20, 2010How is it possible to delete all the items from a ListBox that have the same extension? This is in particular to video files that have have extensions of .mpg, .modd and .moff. I can populate the ListBox with just the .mpg files but I would like to know how I can remove the other file types should I put the whole lot in.Also, presumably using similar coding, it it posssible to highlight all lines with a particular extension?

When I click on the listview item and then click delete button to delete a particula list and its content on the database, it is giving me the error as "No value given for one or more required parameters". My access database have a Primary key as the first character of the firstname combined with the first 2 characters of the lastname. It does not have a Anutonumber fiels. My code for the delete button is as follows: the code was working fine on a MS Access that has a Primary Key as the AutoNumber being generated.

1. When I launch the program, I want the items in my listbox to be sorted alphabeticly.
2. I want to save the items in the listbox, so if I close the program and reopen it the items are still saved in the listbox.
