Determined The Item That Invoke A Postback In A Checklist?
Mar 10, 2011
My checklist is doing a autopostback on selectedIndexChange event. I need to know how to get the item that was just selected that invoked the postback. I tried using selectedvalue, selecteditem, selectedindex, but they all give me the lowest item in thecollection and not neccessarily the item just checked

I've got the following code:
[code]...
The problem is that, when I call the "SetStatusBarText" sub from another thread, InvokeRequired is True (as it should be), but then my threads stall on the Me.Invoke statement - pausing execution shows them all just sitting there, not actually invoking anything.

I have a filesystewatcher object. On it`s event it runs a procedure which fills a treeview with a data. I had problems with treeview methods, but when I run them using invoke method everything is ok. But I still have one problem. When I load the form for the first time, everything works fine. But, when I then close the form (me.dispose, me.close), and load it once again, when Filesystemwathcer start the procedure i have an exception "invoke or begininvoke cannot be called on a control until the window handle has been created" trying to run a treeview.invoke method?

We have a UI with a progressbar. I know how to invoke, safely, the control from which it was not created from a thread. there are threads being processed in a threadpool, all of which calls an "agent" (which is a notifier to raise an event back to the UI to then increase the progressbar). an "agent" is set as a property in a State object, which is then passed into a method which will be executed on the ThreadPool. so, I invoke on the UI the method to update the progressbar, but the bar does not seem to update at all (screen frozen) and it takes a very very long time for it to execute. without threading, no problem.

I need to create a VB app to enumerate through a directory containing thousands of subdirectories, most of which have 3 - 5 (or more) PDF documents. The user would like the list of PDFs loaded to a table (UltraWinGrid) with the page count of the PDF in one of the columns.

For the assignment that I'm doing, there's certain skills I must demonstrate in my assignment. There are some standard ones, and some optional ones. The more optional ones I have, the better chance I have at achieving an A.Problem is, some of the things on the list are a bit wierd, and after Googling them, I still have no idea what they are. I will list them, if you could perhaps tell me what they are and how they work anInput Mask (Actually, I know what this is - when people input information, it's a method that inserts in the information in the correct frormat (eg. dd/mm/yyyy) but how do you do use this in Visual Basic?Use of procedures or modules
Optional
Validation rule andappropriate validation text message
Validating data input entry (eg data type, appropriate value, required)

I've searched a good deal on the topic and have found little results. It seems adding foreground into the criteria on any engine I've used causes tons of entry level documents on threading in .Net.
In my current project I have a foreground thread within a static class that lies dormant until it is told otherwise. It contains a queue of items that must be processed and the items application cannot close without all items being processed. Right now I have a method that tells the thread that it should stop accepting new items and close when it is finished processing everything, but not everyone on the team remembers to call the method. Having the GUI close while the process still runs in the background is quite a bug in my opinion. If I can add a periodic check to see if the queued thread is the last foreground thread, then I can call the method and not have to worry about others that use the class.

I am developing a .Net application that populates a checklist by querying the directories inside a "base" directory (this part already accomplished). The purpose is to show these directories and allow the user to "check off" the directories they want to delete, and then click a button to delete just those directories (this is the part I'm stuck at).My checklist populates, but how would I go about deleting just the directories that get checked? There is one more thing. Each of these directories might have a log file (of the same name) inside the "base" directory; this corresponding log file should also be removed.

I'm having trouble on how to code this. First I need to assign a value for every item in the list (1 for the first item, 2 for the 2nd and so on). Does this control have a separate field for the value aside from text?
Second, I need to insert this into my database(MSSQL 2008) in this format:
insert into table values(ID,selectedvaluegoeshere)

I am planning a three form checklist/status report for a FEED template. Each form will address a different FEL. FEL1 is really a simple checklist and is easily dealt with using the Windows Form. My question is there a better structure to handle the more complex FEL2 and FEL3, like the web page? FEL2 will have approximately 20 questions and FEL3 will have about 50. I am still undecided whether to use radio buttons (radio button list, which I do not understand yet) or text boxes that will take a value between 0 and 10. I may weight the questions to give an overall percent complete that I can show on the progress bar or some such. If there is a better structure than the Windows form, can it and the Windows Form be linked? If not, will abandon efforts to complete current FEL1. Conceptually, you cannot start FEL2 until you have completed FEL1, and FEL3 until FEL2 is complete.
Public Class FrmFEL1
Dim PctCmpt As New ProgressBar()
Private Sub CboxChrtr_CheckedChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles CboxChrtr.CheckedChanged
[CODE]...
This is what I have so far. It is no working at all. No values appear when boxes checked. Would like a value for each checkbox that can be added in in order to get a total. That total to be added to the percent complete (TxFEL1).

Im trying to make a scholarship analysis. i want it to be determined by percentage points using the following criteria.
OVERALL GPA
MAJOR GPA
VOLUNTEERED HRS = NUMBER OF REPAIRS * 4
VOLUNTEERED T SHIRT HRS = NUMBER OF SHIRTS * 10
I have inputs for the users name, academic status, overall gpa , major gpa , number of repairs and number of shirts. so how could i use the information to give the user say like 10 out of 10.. if they have 4.0 and alot of hours.. or like 6 out of 10 if they r an average students and have little hours used.

Working with System.Cryptography, I'm noticing that data arrays up to a certain size will either conform to the size of the Initialization Vector (IV) or the size of the Key provided. So with a 48-byte Key and a 32-byte IV, up to around 42 bytes of data will encrypt to 32 bytes and 44+ will encrypt to 48 bytes of data. I've tested this with a variety of data arrays, and it seems to always come out the same... but I have a concern that higher byte values in the original array may result in longer encrypted arrays.
how or whether I can construct byte arrays that will be guaranteed to come out of Encryption at a pre-determined size?

I had actually getting LINQ to work but I am past that now but I was wandering if anyone could help me what I basically have is a DropDownChecklist user control I made and the contents of the list are filled by LINQ getting a list of company names see below:
'Population for company filter box
Public Function GetCompNames()
Using DC As New DataClassDataContext
Dim comp = (From C In DC.Companies _
[code]....
Would you suggest using a public array or something to store the companyID's when populating the first list box? This just came to me at the end of writing this post. Will try this but not sure if its the right thing to do.

I have a list box on the form which functions as a copy/paste. When you copy something, it is automatically added to the list box as a "clipboard helper". Here is the problem, however: if the text is more than 1 line, the list box does not show all the text.It ends up looking messy. So getting back to my question, is it possible to make the list box item height for an item depending on the amount of lines that item contains? This is a one line sentence in the list box and should take up one line. This is a multi line sentence in the list box and should take up two lines for item height.
