While trying to delpoy it I came across this error:"The following files may have dependancies that cannot be determined automatically. Please confirm that all dependancies have been added to the project.c:\program files\microsoft office\office12\excel.exe".

I've searched a good deal on the topic and have found little results. It seems adding foreground into the criteria on any engine I've used causes tons of entry level documents on threading in .Net.
In my current project I have a foreground thread within a static class that lies dormant until it is told otherwise. It contains a queue of items that must be processed and the items application cannot close without all items being processed. Right now I have a method that tells the thread that it should stop accepting new items and close when it is finished processing everything, but not everyone on the team remembers to call the method. Having the GUI close while the process still runs in the background is quite a bug in my opinion. If I can add a periodic check to see if the queued thread is the last foreground thread, then I can call the method and not have to worry about others that use the class.

I have inputs for the users name, academic status, overall gpa , major gpa , number of repairs and number of shirts. so how could i use the information to give the user say like 10 out of 10.. if they have 4.0 and alot of hours.. or like 6 out of 10 if they r an average students and have little hours used.

View 2 RepliesWorking with System.Cryptography, I'm noticing that data arrays up to a certain size will either conform to the size of the Initialization Vector (IV) or the size of the Key provided. So with a 48-byte Key and a 32-byte IV, up to around 42 bytes of data will encrypt to 32 bytes and 44+ will encrypt to 48 bytes of data. I've tested this with a variety of data arrays, and it seems to always come out the same... but I have a concern that higher byte values in the original array may result in longer encrypted arrays.
how or whether I can construct byte arrays that will be guaranteed to come out of Encryption at a pre-determined size?

View 16 RepliesI have a database with 3 tables: Student, Unavailability and Duty.The fields for Student are entered in a form I have. One of the fields in Unavailability is filled by a form, the other fields are an autonumber and a foreign key to the Student table.ow I want records in the Duty table to be created and automatically filled in depending on what the values of the fields are in the Student table.For example, If the Boarder field in the Student table is 'yes' then I want the Duty Number field in the Duty table to be '1', '3' and '4'. If it is 'no' then I want the value to be '2' and '5'. I recognize it will have to create several different records to incorporate the different duty numbers for each StudentID. Obviously this will require an if statement, however this is my first time implementing a database with my limited experience with programming and Visual Basic, so I don't know how to refer to the specific fields in a table and set the value of other fields depending on the data in other fields.

I'm currently working on an application that allows users to select picture files and then categorize them into folders. Now I'm having two issues that are probably simple to fix but I only have a year of experience with vb so I just don't know how to fix them. The first and biggest issue is that once the user has selected and categorized a file, I want the program to select the next file in the folder that the first file was moved from. This way the number of clicks required is minimized. However I have no clue what I would need to do in order to accomplish this. Also, my other problem is that I want to be able to find the indexof a quotation mark but whenever I put it in the parameter it just reads it as a quote.
View 4 RepliesI am trying to import a bunch of excel 2003 files all with A:H columns and they are under the same headings etc. into a table in access 2003 database. This is a module in access im making. Im using a file search to look for every file that begins with Format (which they all do ) to get at all the files in the folder path. is there a more efficient way to do this? somehow select all files in a folder? and import each to the same table in access? The DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet seeems to take each file path individually so I'm not sure how to get each file name in the folder to import it.

I have VB project and I tried to use PUBLISH feature.It seems to create nicely some kind of setup program, but the setup program does not ask where to copy files (it does not seem to copy filesto target machine "PROGRAM FILES".)Is this setup program somehow different from usual installers?
NOTE: I want that app files are installed to Hard disk( from USB stick source)Is the signing recommended or necessary? My App is pretty simple, its just using access DB + printer api, should I still sign?

I wrote windows app to upload files to different FTP sites by picking the files from different folders.A log is displayed by appending text to the textbox at every step.Textbox is ReadOnly.
Issue:When app is loading a bf file to FTP and if user tries to scroll the textbox,the form is hanging and going to Not Responding.?
